Hi Simon. Have been away for a while so playing catch up. Watched parts 2,3 and 4 today and has been brilliant! Great to see what can be achieved by the home mechanic when taking a bit of time and thought and a positive attitude. Looking forward to each and every update. Well done 👍
Yes but I mean with the amount of rust, when I bought mine 9 years ago I went all over the underside with Bilt Hamber UB which has kept most of her nice and tidy, however I've been under her recently and where the subframe carriers bolt onto the chassis that chassis plate has rusted badly on the kerbside, so I'll have to cut it out and weld new plate on. Cheers, Jon
@jonathanslade2358 hi again John, it's not actually too horrendous underneath. It definitely will need some welding in a few places, but I'd rather that than one where someone has been before 👍
Hi simon, firstly well done. Can i make a small suggestion as i work like this on my back with no lift. What i have is plenty of carpet off cuts underneath. Makes it a lot more comfortable. Like being in the front room except you can weld and it doesnt matter.😅
Hi buddy, thanks for getting in touch, and thanks for the top tip. I have been lucky enough to get a couple of amazon vouchers from my subscribers to buy myself a 'mechanics' floor matt to lay on. This turned up in the post last week, so I will be featuring it in this week's video. I have also been up on the roof in the barn today to fix a cracked roofing sheet, which sits right over the top of the jag. So I'm hoping this keeps the floor a lot drier, so a few offcuts of carpet, as you suggest, should work really well 👍
Well done Simon! I shared your emotions as the subframe finally reached the ground, safely! Great stuff.
Hi Andrew, Good to hear from you again buddy.
It came out a lot easier than I was expecting, and progress is coming along too on its stripdown 👍
Hello Simon, excellent work , you did really well removing that against all the rusty odds 👏
Hi Mark, good to hear from you, buddy. It was a bit of a challenge, but it came out better than I was expecting 👍
Crikey! That was scary. My heart was in my mouth for a bit there. Well done fella.
Hi Gerard, Yes, it was a bit of a moment, but it actually came down a lot easier than I was expecting 😀
Massive pat on the back for that! You took calculated risks which paid off. Delighted for you and good luck with the rest of of the subframe refurb
@Paul-tk2my cheers Paul, we're getting there with it buddy 👍
Hi Simon, that was exciting and better than a crime film. Thanks for showing the video. Congratulations on your success. Greetings Udo
Hi Udo, it was pretty tense, I'm very pleased it came down without too much trouble, let's hope it goes back up as easily 😀

Hi Stephen, welcome back, and good to hear from you again, buddy. There is plenty more content to come, so stay tuned and catch up again soon, mate 👍
Well done Simon. Seeing how crusty they get it’s a job well worth doing.
Hi Steve, I appreciate that buddy. It is amazing how rusty they can get just sitting around 👍
Bloody brilliant result 👍🏻
Cheers bud 👍 🍻
Great work mate. 👍👍
Cheers Steve 🍻
Cracking job mate👍
@johnwilkinson4782 thanks John, that's much appreciated buddy 👍
Nice work, you are braver than me!
Hi Andrew, Thanks for that, mate. It's only nuts and bolts and a bit of brute force and ignorance 😃
Hi Simon ...to get it back up, you will definitely need 2 jacks to adjust angles so that everything is properly aligned !
Hi buddy, I agree, I will need a good amount of control to get it back in there 👍
Well done Simon, but bloody hell you are alot braver than me! Jon
Hi Jon, I appreciate that, buddy. It's only nuts and bolts, what's the worst that could happen 😉

Cheers, Alex, we got there in the end, buddy
