The Spetsnaz guy was absolutely badass in this..... Shot by a blaster, knifed through the chest.... and he just spits in the Predators face before getting the job done. Brilliant.
And doesn’t even scream once the Predator held him up with his blade. He was a total Badass!

Honestly, I think this movie is the only one in the franchise that comes close the original. None of the characters in this movie were forgettable and each had their moment to be remembered.
Maybe too close to the point where it can't even stand on its own without referencing the first movie. Prey is the closest we have to a sequel that brings something new in the table and it's actually good.
@@giagarex No it isn't. How is a super-human teenager who can beat up three grown men, fears nothing, and defeat a Predator in hand-to-hand combat considered "actually good"? Compare the physics of this film and the first Predator to Prey. The Predators in this film and the first Predator defeated grown men with ease, oftentimes one-shotting them, yet in Prey no one could hurt Naru, and she managed to survive multiple attacks from the Predator whereas every other man and animal died in one hit.
A good point. I need to watch it again. They captured a lot of the squad dynamics in a different way.

I really enjoyed this film, the fight scenes were dark, serious, detailed, and had great CGI. I'm don't understand why everyone hated this film so much!
A few reasons, from people who started with the first movie.
Despite predator being an 80s movie, the effects look ten times better.
This movie shoehorns in fan service in uncomfortable places.
Like the stupid mini gun, the mud, the girl, the music tracks, ECT, ECT.
Making predators bigger does not make them cooler.
Cgi blood looks like shit.
Cardboard characters and acting.
Inconsistent attitudes that fit the needs of the script.
Tried to be a predator reboot while pretending nobody has seen a predator before.
The cgi predator dogs. Disgrace.
Cartoony violence to please all crowds.

I say that because Predator 2 expanded the lore in ways that did not remove all fear and mystery behind the hunters.
In Predators, the first predator we see is chained up and dying.
All mystery is gone as we get a highly detailed, daylight shot of the hunter. We are no longer left with any curiosity. Here is a predator, it's weak, dying, and it's the heroes only hope.

There is, on the predator homeworld, a predator named Klexamachhh that runs a school deticated to teaching young predators how to properly rip out the spine without damaging the trophy.
He teaches primarily in the winter time from 5-9 PM on weekdays except for Thursdays, because his son Greshmela has dramatic helmet removal classes.

I actually didn't catch that the first time. That the inmate is wearing the plate of medieval armor under his jumpsuit and thats what helped him survive the plasma bolt in the back, i had to slow it down but it makes sense. He was eyeballing it when they were hanging out with Lawrence fishburns character earlier so he took it from there and put it on off screen under his jumpsuit,smart play, the pred didn't see it coming and he managed to shiv him a couple of times.

I'll never understand why movies portray claymores as a fiery explosive. Its has 700 tiny steel balls that spray out in a 70 degree arc. It would have turned the predator into hamburger meat.

I’m not gonna lie. This movie was really good and I enjoy it every time I watch it. The only reason people don’t like it is because it’s pretty much the same plot as the first movie with some of the same lines. The only difference is that this movie had a much more diverse cast as well as the obvious multiple predators to deal with
Poorly copying an existing work is certainly part of the problem, but it's definitely not the only problem I have with this one. The first one had well-defined characters, multiple factions of enemies, and it didn't have an idiotic twist near the end which turned the Predator from a warrior to a homicide detective. This film had so much potential, entirely squandered by the studio. I think setting it on another planet (though one that conveniently has a forest biome exactly like on Earth) was a terrible idea, since it basically meant that even if they somehow managed to defeat the predators, they wouldn't be able to get home anyway, and would surely die at some point soon. This meant there were no real stakes to the plot - these people that we don't know or care about are effectively dead either way. Predator 1 & 2 didn't have that issue. Also, why even use another planet? Just drop them in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, where there's nobody but indigenous tribesfolk around. Maybe they even help the other humans, and/or have heroic moments. At least this way, if the prey overcome the predators, they stand a thin chance of finally getting home again. I wish I liked this movie - hell, I'm here watching some clips to see if it's worth a 2nd viewing yet, but I don't think so.
Yeah it really was a good movie, it just did the same thing as Riddick 2013 did. Still an amazing movie overall.

@@overseastom Well to be fair, it does highlight the predators ability to adapt to new foes. Just like Nolan’s said, each season they come back with different tools and tactics for their prey. Humans are known among the predators for their ingenuity, thus making strong ones prized kills for the species. And in reality, each hunt was a progression from the last if we’re getting specific. So I can’t blame the producers for making this movie the way that they did. I loved it
@@iDropPhats I'm glad you dug it, at least. Anyway, moving on from this one, did any of y'all ever read the old Aliens vs Predators comics, by any chance? I loved them back in the day, and I wish they'd made *that* version, instead of the AvP we eventually got. The comic one was set on another alien planet that was being colonised, kinda like LV426 from Alien & Aliens, but more like something out of the rocky wilds of Utah. It could've had some future tech, and actually been set somewhere hot (which was apparently when the Predators most liked to visit Earth, per the first movie), instead of being set in a frozen locale on Earth. I'm bummed the studios don't seem to know how to make a decent Alien or Predator film nowadays, cos they were soooo good back in the day.
Jeez, Imagine getting your spine pulled out while fully conscious, along with your head, and being alive for like 2 seconds, long enough to realize that someone is holding *you* bu your tailbone, while the other *you* just lays on the floor right there.

I remember when the trailer debuted and Adrian Brody’s character had like over a dozen predator lasers pointed at him
the pred ripped out his spine with skull on top, yet the prisoners head is still there when hes lying on the ground
He learnt that technique in mortal kombat, where multiple heads, rib cages and limbs are produced by the victim upon dealing fatal damage.
The general shape of the head and meat around the skull is still going to be there it's not completely deflated

It's cool the predator took the prisoner as a trophy because he respected how fearless the man was. Even though he was somewhat small and scrawny looking, there's a reason he survived prison. He used his head. Billy from the first predator movie was taken as a trophy but he was buff. Yet billy slowed down the creature just like the prisoner and bought a little time, by funneling the predator right at him. He knew he was gonna die but sacrificed himself. The prisoner could have played dead and ran off but he made a different choice. Now that predator has a story to tell and that "scrawny" prisoner is gonna live forever through stories told by this predator and others. That story holds a lesson..Don't underestimate anybody's ability to fuck you up ha.
As a hunter who grew up on my reservation I became good at sneaking up on elk because i wanted to show the hunters that's how you make a clean kill. I would show off too much and sometimes the elk would detect me (somehow there's times where i would spook em and im still tryna figure out so i could make better kills and harvest more meat to feed my people and use as much as the animal that i can). Being cocky would have cost your life in the days of our ancestors. That might of been the only animal you'd get a shot at. Just like how some of these predators would get too cocky and tangle with humans just so they can show em how strong they are. Make a clean kill and respect your prey.

People need to hear the stories of the "losers", as well. There's a reason some people keep losing. A smart man learns from his mistakes. A wise man learns from another person's mistakes.

These are badblood yautjas, they don't hunt for honour or they don't respect their prey, they take trophies just for fun and they hunt anything they want.
People that don't know why this movie is so hated - this was supposed to be a reboot of the original where the premise is essentially the same - Band of misfits lost in a jungle being hunted by the predator(s). This film should have been so much more.
I mean it literally has that, this movie isn’t as god awful as people make it out to be. The predator 2018 is god awful this one is not. Predators is by no means perfect but it’s entertaining as hell and is very reminiscent of the original.
Predator 1987, Predators 2010 and Prey 2022 are the best predator movies.

Prey was a solid movie but Predators felt much more like a Predator movie than Prey did.
Prey had good cinematography but that was it. Naru was a super human that nothing could hurt. Even a bear trap didn't slow her down. She had the strength of three men. Feared nothing, and beat a Predator in hand-to-hand combat. It's funny comparing that movie to all the other films, where Predators ragdoll around grown men and kill them with ease, but that Predator couldn't harm a hair on Naru's head. Awful.

Claymores do not make fireballs. You barely see any fire at all unless it’s nighttime. What you do see it a small flash and a “misty cone” emanating from the device. After you look at the “target” you see that the cone was actually 10,000 marbles leaving behind shreds.
