I'm gonna go against the crowd and say you get the full point for blue. Not because you deserve it, but for the reason you stated, because I like you and its the new year.
Well done. I found light blue right away, and then purple occurred to me. The rare time I clear light blue and purple first without error. Then it was easy to find green and then yellow for an easy perfect solve. However I didn't describe yellow correctly as I said these were "things were you can record time". I overlooked the fact these are supposed to be verbs, not nouns. So, 3 points for me according to Doug's system.
Blue was the first category for me! When I saw Juror I instantly thought of groups of 12. Green, yellow and purple all fell into place with no mistakes. I was surprised to see that today's puzzle was rated 5/5 for difficulty. There weren't any really nasty tricks.
I got them all in order. All the categories including dog. 1 mistake: days, month, inch, meter are all units of measure. Almost guessed 12 days of Christmas instead of inch, but caught it before hitting enter.
@constancebrown3507 I guess you are referring to both the imaginary group I mistakenly made up of units of measure as well as the mistake I avoided with one of 12. I have been burned trying to pick out parallel parts of speech/conjugations/pluralization. I just figured I would be more mad about inch being left out of the 12 group than if day(s) was left out. Day(s) is the least elegant answer of the five.
@constancebrown3507 I think today's groups were good. Sometimes I get mad (like Crash is a synonym for plunge? In what language?- I did get that right though). But today's were good. (But honestly it is "Doggie Paddle" not "Dog Paddle")
I got the Blue first when thinking about inch and 12 inches make a foot. Apparently Doug doesnt buy donuts by the dozen! I got Green easily, then fell apart on Yellow and Purple!
Yeah, when he said how do you measure with donuts I thought he'd say dozen. I don't think he should get half a point. It is 3 points for Doug. But it counts for his new streak.
🟢🟡🟣🔵 One mistake today. Here are some measurements, but still have some tricks somehow. 12 inches is a foot; 12 jurors in a jury box at most; and 12 small donuts in a box usually. (I might think of baker's dozen, which is 13.)
🟩🟨🟦🟪 Time for a Red Herring 🟩🟨🟩🟩 Time, Meter, Rhythm, Register 🟩 Felt stupid missing that, but register is a musical term 🟨 I sussed it out 🟦 What about a baker's dozen? Extra donut. 🟪 Should have noticed it, gave up too early.

I only got green! Doug you amaze me how you seemed stumped (like me) but end up getting them all!
Like Doug, I got purple early, which is rare for me. I jut saw Dog Paddle and it fell into place. Got all the rest correct too, no errors.

Got my longest Connections streak going! 😁
Coincidentally, I was just listening to "Dog Days are Over" by Florence + the Machine last night!
Doug. Since when do you have a dozen doughnuts ?
I’m from England & 1 is quite enough 😮 🇬🇧🇺🇸.
You buy donuts by the dozen, but you're not supposed to eat them all at once, LOL!
@@Tiqerboy YOU'RE NOT?!

Since days is pluralized, it is a hint that it would not be in that group.

You did better than me today but you, like me, did not come close to getting the blue.

I got one error, placed tag in the percieve group. Then I saw purple group. Got blue then green.
Yellow, green, purple, blue. Again still not getting the blue😑
