Doug you haven't lived until you've eaten some good potstickers. Get thee to an Asian restaurant! This puzzle fell into place very quickly for me with no mistakes. It's unusual for me to see Doug struggle when I got it right away... usually Doug puts me to shame. I don't like mushrooms and don't eat them -- but I do like to cook and read recipes so I've seen those terms. I knew morel was a mushroom, it would be a difficult solve if you don't know that.
Potstickers are called different things in other parts of the US. "Potsticker" is common in San Francisco, "Peking Ravioli" is what they say in Boston, "Jowds" or "jiaozi" are more similar to how they are pronounced in Mandarin, and you see this in some places. "Dumplings" is pretty common across the country. In LA where I am, you see "dumplings" and "potstickers" most, though sometimes you see the Japanese term "Gyoza" which is cognate to "jiaozi"
This was hard if you didn't know that Morel was a mushroom. Luckily, I knew Morel and button as mushrooms and was able to deduce what the other two were. A pot sticker is a Chinese Dumpling.
you are correct, I cleared yellow and green right away and made 4 mistakes trying to find either light blue or purple. I don't eat mushrooms. I submit, if I had run over a pothole the day before I could have seen purple and gotten the perfect solve. On aha moment between failing the puzzle and scoring the perfect solve. That's all it was!
Morel and oyster jumped out at me as mushrooms (from survival video games). Made everything else easier even though I wasn't sure about the other two fungi.
@@archtansterpg4246 At least in the UK the mushroom is a mor-ell with the stress on the second syllable , the opposite is the case with moral. Morale does have the stress on the second part though !
For whatever reaso Morel and oyster jumped at me first as edible fungi/mushrooms. I didn't get it til later because i am not as familiar with the other types of mushrooms. But i thought i remembered button being used with mushroom. trumpet seemed most likely. It is always easier to figure out purple when it is all that is left. 4/4
One mistake today. I tried Belly, Buck, Button, Clam as an ______UP connection. Purple was last and took a few minutes to figure out it was Pot_____ . As for mushrooms being vegetables - just no.
Yellow, blue, green, purple. I got green before purple even though I did not know that smacker was slang for a dollar. But when that was right, I immediately saw what purple was various pots. The mushrooms were a bit of a guess too because I wasn't sure trumpet was a type of mushroom.
Yeah, this is a tricky one if you don't know mushrooms or synonyms for dollar. Managed to solve with 2 mistakes, but never heard of a "clam" for a single dollar. Or maybe I have, and just forgot. 😆 Potstickers are a kind of Asian dumpling, particularly popular in China. Though you might know them in Japanese as gyōza. My favorite kind of mushroom...hmm, that's a tough one but I'd go with portobello? They make for good vegetarian burgers.
Appreciated that you noticed Belly and Hole. I'm a big fan of Tanya's projects in particular. 🟨🟦🟩🟦 under the sea, wrong 🟨🟨🟨🟨 Feet, right 🟪🟦🟩🟩 "____ up," wrong 🟩🟩🟩🟩 Dollar, right 🟪🟪🟦🟦 Very wrong, just hoping words that contained other words connected 🟪🟪🟪🟪 Almost gave up ... Didn't make any mistakes but this was slightly tricky because I didn't know what morel was. Managed to guess what all the categories were. Got lucky with putting it with the mushrooms category. I also hadn't heard of smacker or clam being one dollar but seeing single or buck inferred that idea since it was my last category to get.
Hey Doug, I sent you an email a while back about a possible sponsor/collab. Not sure if you got it, so just reaching out on here. No worries if you're not interested either way.

Morel is a key word b/c as far as I know it only applies to mushrooms.
Yeah, can only really either refer to a mushroom or a homophone of "moral".

Morels are very expensive and my son will forage for them in April/May. People will pay good money for them.

🟨🟦🟩🟦 under the sea, wrong
🟨🟨🟨🟨 Feet, right
🟪🟦🟩🟩 "____ up," wrong
🟩🟩🟩🟩 Dollar, right
🟪🟪🟦🟦 Very wrong, just hoping words that contained other words connected
🟪🟪🟪🟪 Almost gave up ... POT! Oh, right!
🟦🟦🟦🟦 Did not see the category, I don't like mushrooms.
I got foot parts pretty quick, then one dollar. didn't get blue or purple. I looked up Morel and still didnt get it
Paris bien sure😅
Every word here is 1 letter from another word.
I got everything right except the category for purple. That just didn't materialise for me.
I've never heard of a pot sticker. Now a pot licker is a sheepdog that's no good as a worker and just eats as a pet !

I got Purple and Blue and then blew four guesses on Yellow and Green, fml.
I guess you don't like Chinese food ❤
Morel, a mushroom, is pronounced mo-RELL and would not be a homophone for moral.
