If you don't feel like paying for Photoshop, GIMP is an good alternative. As a 16-year old, I don't want to use money for photoshop, as I'm manipulating images just as a hobby. I've used gimp for a few years to "Photoshop" motorbikes, mopeds, cars, etc... and I'm really happy with it. It's totally free and it's got pretty much all the tools that Photoshop has.
Just wanted to say a quick thank you, im buying a cafe racer project bike and your channel has so much useful information, so thanks for putting so much effort into these vids
I don't mean to offend you or anyone who uses photo shop. But this video made me feel more respect for the "masters of old". Who made things to happen by their own imagination.
No offence taken. It's very true, although photoshop is a useful tool it does take some creativity away. But if you can harness that creativity and use Photoshop to assist you then that's when things get good.
Man, old school and craftsman used to spend a lot more of money and also gettin more stressed for not knowing how would look out of their head. But I agree with artisan jobs anyway, they worth every penny
This was so helpful thank you very much for me being able to share my vision for my bike with my buddies so that we can all be on the same page while we build it
thanx for the ideas.. as an engineer I would have hoped the scaling was in measurements.. it's easy to fit tank from other bike in PS, but really hard if it's 5cm too short IRL. but I think this video was more for the getting new ideas and how they fit together.
Better shadows for the wheels: Make a black circle, blur the hell out of it, and only then, Cmd+T and squash it down to the floor. that way, the shadow's perspective matches better with the floor
This is soooo helpful! But when it comes to the tools, I have Adobe CC with Photoshop 2017 so these buttons don't apply because this is an old version. I just recently got an '81 Suzuki gs650gl so your channel has taught me SOOOOO much! So, thank you! I will figure out the Photoshop buttons myself somehow. No biggie!
For The Bold - dreegez I have it on "essentials" and the magic eraser is different. That's the only part I'm really struggling with. It doesn't outline it in CC, it just erases it. Do you know of a fix?
If you click and hold on the tools you'll get a drop down menu to select from magic eraser to a normal one. Same with all tools where there's a little arrow in the bottom right hand corner means that there are more tools to select if you click and hold.
That's what I'm doing, and there is "eraser" "background eraser" and "magic eraser" the magic doesn't have an option that I can find to change to where it will select the space it's going to erase, it just gives me the middle finger and erases what it thinks I want when I click hahaha. P.s. I hope I'm not coming off negative at all, because your videos has taught me sooooo much!!!!! I'm very grateful for you.
Awsome stuff. QUESTION do you have any tips on getting rear tires inflated after mounting. I'm in a bit of a pickle all I have is a pancake compressor. I have already tried the starting fluid trick but dont want to blow my self up
Is interesting... but you can make a tutorial where you can hold proportion(the real dimmension) of the bike and "donator" bike. In reality will be hard to scale and the result will be other...(unproportional bike)
Hi! Greatings from Brazil... Awesome video, help me to start creating a bike i wanted for a while! Would be very nice if you keep doing some this videos and hints of photoshop... Keep the good job!
CB250 would be a good place to start if it's simple you're after. I always say that the frame is the hardest and most expensive part of the job. So CB would eliminate a lot of work.
Hey mate, love your channel. I'm new to building and still in planning stages. In regards to fuel tanks, are fuel tanks generally designed the same so they can be cross fitted? Or is there modification involved to make a tank fit from a different bike?
Wow this is so kool I just saw this video don’t know how I missed it before. Are you still using photoshop on your builds. Maybe a update on this subject. Thanks for the videos.
The problem with designing a bike this way is you are altering the relative scale of the individual items and distorting the actual physics of the build. So, in reality, it looks cool but would not be necessarily feasible nor look like this as nothing is scaled respective to the other components. In essence, you are building a good looking bike (digitally) that cannot actually exist as designed. If you tried to put those components together it would look odd.
A very valid point. I would never suggest anyone basing their decision of whether to buy a specific product like this, but for choosing colour, and basic layout / style of the bike it's handy.
The correct way of using photoshop is to test out looks. I was thinking of doing Apes on my bike (Honda Rebel 500) and photoshop was the best way to see how they'll look on the bike and what's the angle of my hands. I ended up going for a flat bar and a custom peg position to make me lean forward more comfortably and the bike now looks cool and is more comfortable
For The Bold - dreegez oh yeah i remember ive watched that already haha. great work you do. unfortunately im still yet to find my donor bike so im doing lots of cosmetics to my 600rr for the summer instead ha
Nice tutorial man, but i got a question... Let's say that i wanted to fix the rear wheel perspective on your design so it didn't slanted to the left side, but i didn't get some good example of rear wheel, so could you come up with any tools i need to use to fix it? thanks btw for the tutorial...
Great videos, one question. i cant figure the command to select the bike to put on the canvas. i didn't hear an instruction or see a mouse click? your advise please.
I haven't made a video on the cheapest way of building, but I might. To be honest sometimes the cheapest way might not be the safest way. Definitely cutting costs on paint etc is ok.
What software would you consider for adequate functions thats 100% free and what would be the best lower end scale of paid version. Or is graphical design software needed?
Gimp is the best free software to do this and is very similar to photoshop. Inkscape and/or corel draw are low priced alternatives to ps and are also very similar.
dude we are colleagues! haha a few videos i was asking this, btw do you have a bunch of cut parts? or every time you gonna make one you have to cut all the parts?
I'm using CS5.5, but the new CC is the same principals, same tools & menus just a black background, the panels may be set out differently but you can do that yourself.

Absolutely, the scales aren't measured here, only a a reference. But you're right, the reality of fitting these is a lot more complicated.

For £3000 for the entire build you could go Honda CB or Suzuki GS for a straight forward build.

Thank you.
Is interesting... but you can make a tutorial where you can hold proportion(the real dimmension) of the bike and "donator" bike. In reality will be hard to scale and the result will be other...(unproportional bike)
Without knowing the original dimensions then working on a scale it's hard to do, so first step is finding out the original size
@@forthebold you can make a video where you presume I know the dimension? To have everything scaled
Can u show how to tranform benelli leoncino 500 look very very great too look..if can bro
Personally I use Excel. I quickly realise I can't afford to build one. Saves me loads of time!! 😁👍
IT sure does cost a lot more than people think.
Instead of using the lasso tool to select the whole bike, it's much easier to use select colour range, pick white and invert the selection
This is very helpful, I was hoping is it possible to do a bobber build? Really like your videos though they help a lot
Yeah absolutely, I will do in the next couple of weeks.

Hey thanks for your videos they have inspired me to try build my first cafe bike do you have any suggestions.
All depends what bike connects with you. Which kind of angine / frame do you like?
Thanks for replying, Im not sure just yet but I want something fairly simple to work on im thinking cb250 but dont know yet.

What you'll find is some tanks will swap, but always measure the length and mounting brackets, although they can be modified.
That looks great on how you do it. Do you do designs for other people on the side?
This was in Photoshop and After Effects, unfortunately I don't do commissioned designs at the moment.
Your videos most useful in cafe bike then how to change my bike Baja v15 change to cafe bike?
Wow this is so kool I just saw this video don’t know how I missed it before. Are you still using photoshop on your builds. Maybe a update on this subject. Thanks for the videos.
Still using it but only as a guide. Some builds change along the way.

Hi. What edition of Photoshop are you using in vid as I have purchased PS 2018 but totally different.
I'm using CS5.5, but the new CC is the same principals, same tools & menus just a black background, the panels may be set out differently but you can do that yourself.
Using CS 5 now but when I Copy and paste image from Path I just get a pencil outline and not the image I want.
you need to cmd and click on the path which will bring up a dotted selection on the screen, then paste.
