It's not. I can't use ray tracing and I have yo lower some settings at 1440p in order to avoid heavy stutter because of the small vram (I have the 12 GB version). This card could have still been great if it wasnt for that ridiculous vram it has. It should have been a 16gb card, but nvidia scammed us
I play Red Dead Redemption 2, Max Preset at 4K with an RTX 3080 paired with a R7 5800X. (No DLSS) I've never seen it drop below 60. It's still more than capable in all games at 4K. In Cyberpunk 2077 all settings are maxed (except SSR set to high and quality DLSS) and I score over 70 FPS with the in game benchmark. It's a total beast! I will keep it for the next couple years before I consider upgrading.
I got the 12gb version and I can ultra most games on 1440p with no issues. I do think we're going to be needing 16gb minimum VRAM within a year or two though
But 1080p is very outdated. Last year I switched to 1440p and I'll only use a resolution below 1440p on a portable device. Granted I got an RX 7800 XT but I recommend Nvidia-users to find a way to buy GPUs that have enough VRAM just to cushion. @@madboi1591
I had the 3080 but I wanted to run hundreds of mods on cyberpunk which more beam than the 3080 has but that’s a niche need really. Can’t fault the 3080 specially at the prices you can pick it up these days

I have the xc3 ultra edition, ,on a 165hz monitor at 1440 most games sit at around 75-90fps on ultra all settings, this card is still quite relevant and decent priced right now.
3080 was probably the best card I have ever owned. Used it for 3 years until I upgraded to the 4080, which is still a great card, until the 4080 super dropped, and I wanna upgrade again. Still have it (just in case) until the 50 series drops. All in all, it's an amazing card and if you can nab one for under 400, which I believe you can pretty much everywhere now, I say go for it
I have the msi suprim model, with a 5800x3D and 32gb 3600mhz ram and it's impeccable for 1080p 240hz gaming. I can max out my monitor with almost every game.
Got a 10GB Vision and there's absolutely nothing in the 40xx series that is worth upgrading to... due to the shady memory bus on the lower cards, none of them are worth it... apart from maybe the 4080ti and 4090... even then, the premium is not worth it for such a small bump... DLSS is NOT nor never should be a factor when purchasing higher end cards.
Just got a watercooled 3080 fe 10gb for £400 last month, yes very worth it, can be undervolted and limited to 80% power for cheaper everyday use for most games I’ve played with zero performance loss at 1440p
Honestly for 400£ there is not much to choose, maybe 7700xt or 6800 which performs a bit worse. But its a bummer that you didn't find one for 12gb that would be a steal. I bought my 3080 ti for 480£ in summer of 2023 and it was decent with graphite pads and liquid metal it never hits 80 degrees.

I just bought a 3080 Aorus Gaming Box watercooled egpu for $435! Seeing if I can pull off 4K with it and my i7-12650h laptop that came with a 3050ti. I have had the laptop for a couple years and it has been good at 1080p. But I have a 4K projector so I wanted to make it 4K capable. We'll see
@@CobiesTechI know that some people don't like userbenchmark for benchmarking but I ran it on there and the 3080 egpu connected to my Asus TUF Dash F15 with the i7-12650h performs slightly above average compared to other 3080 setups. I have only played GTA V at 4K so far. I had to drop the settings slightly below maximum at 4K to pin it at 60 FPS which is the refresh rate of my projector. It stays very cool and is probably better for my CPU thermals this way.

@@Jcamp701 It would depend slightly on what resolution you plan to play at, but i would recommend at a minimum a 6 core cpu over the last couple generations (amd 7600 for example). If you do more than gaming, then you might need something a bit higher, but 6 cores would be the minimum, in my opnion
Forza Motorsport is a mess. Switching out your 5800X for a 5800X3d would give you a nice bump in 1% and 0.1% lows. I've still got my 3090 Rig, its just sitting there doing nothing. Im thinking about selling the MB, I7 10700k and Ram and replacing them with a B650mb, 32GB of DDR5 and a Ryzen 7600 to make a sale more appealing. Id keep it, but the cash would come in handy as it could go towards a 5090.
- the high resolution texture pack in farcry 6 since that needs over 12gb and not forgetting cyperpunk with raytracing as that also needs more then 10gb. the 10gb model was fucked from the begining. massive scam.advertised as a 4k raytracing card and you couldent even do that with most titles.

According to techpowerup the 3080 is 199% stronger than 2070 (2070 is set at 100% base)

You can get FG using the mod FSR 3, check out digital trend for the mod. I’m getting around 60fps CP2077 with 4k RT, DLSS Balanced, High everything
Fg can be enabled thru mods.. its 220elw undervolted. Theres no better option in terms of 40 series
