I think it's a pre internet generation thing! The world wasn't at our fingertips so everything was new and amazing when you went to these parks and other tourist areas. We also didn't have endless music and movies to download so going to the movies and buying new CD's was a great experience. Now, you can see everything online and nothing is really a surprise anymore. You can view the entire world from a phone. You can POV all these rides and see the entire park before you even go. I recently went to Cedar Point with my 21 year old nephew and his 18 year old cousin in law and both were on their stupid fucking phones all day every day, it was unbelievable. At 47, I still out lasted them both during our three day visit. As I was walking around the park, saw many others his age fucking with their phones while at one of the greatest thrill parks in the world. Mind boggling. Again, I think it's due to information overload and the immediate satisfaction that phones provide versus having to walk around and wait for coasters even though most were only 15 minute waits the week we went. So yeah, I agree... our generation was full of amazing innovations yet didn't take over our lives. We still went outside and rode our bikes and skateboards all over the place. We had lives away from the technology.
Growing up in Cincinnati, Kings Island was (and still is) a great park. There's a video here on the Tube about its history. The Eiffel Tower cost $1.4 million to build (in 1971/72). Imagine what it would cost today!
Did you know the Eiffel Tower was originally going to be located at Coney Island before the decision was made to build Kings Island? They were going to remove the Lost River to make room for it.
I dont know why but watching the Brady's always makes me happy inside. It's just the right combo of sweetness, family, music, nostalgia and the 70's..I wish I could bottle it..
My parents swear we were there the day they filmed. I definitely remember going the KI many times as a kid (we grew up less than an hour north), but I don't remember the film crew or cast. I'd have only been 7 at the time, probably why. Wonderful seeing all the old rides, many of them gone now. Just learned the old fashioned cars are coming back for 2019. Great times.

The Pyramids, the Roman Coliseum, and now Mike Bradys Amusement Park...... It must be the eighth wonder of the world? Being a child of the 70's its amazing that as kids we were thrilled to go to an amusement park. The one in my city only had two roller coasters. An arrow corkscrew and a mine train. The rest were flat rides and a log ride. We would wait hours to ride a flat ride. Amazing how times have changed.
One of my favorite episodes... two years later, my family would make our first trip to WDW. The year after that, Marriott's ( now Six Flags ) Great America opened roughly an hours' drive from our house.
I have to disagree. Cedar Point is far better. The Beast needs to be torn down before it kills someone. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Kings Island, but anyone who's been to both will agree with me.
You are crazy Jerry, the Beast is the best ride in the park and is a classic. It's rough but it's always been rough, takes a tough person to ride it. Has a great safety record too. Maybe you should go to the kiddie side of the park.
Barry Williams, Chris Knight and Susan Olson came back to Kings Island in May, 2013 for the 40th anniversary of this episode and did a show in the theater next to the main entrance. I was there to see them. They said that they did ride the Racer, even Susan did.
@@mcgannahanskyjellyfetti1663 Now a days people don't know how to drive because they hit an innocent animal or human. They go too fast or don't watch where they are going because they are talking on their cell phones. They didn't have cell phones back in those days but now they do since 1983 I found out. I thought it wasn't until the 1990s when cell phones first came out, but it really was 1983.
The ride showed @ 3:04 is the "Flying Eagles". It stayed at the park for several years in the Coney Mall section before it was taken down, replaced by a hoop shooting game, and then after Cedar Fair purchased all Paramount Parks, they brought back that same technical ride under a different name, "Woodstock Gliders" in Planet Snoopy and "Snoopy is a Beagle so an appropriate albeit unofficial nickname for that ride would be "Flying Beagles".
Possibly didn’t happen then either but it was part of the script which is why it happened probably. At least I would hope even back then they wouldn’t start until everyone was seated normally.
It would've been nice if they should do The Partridge Family at Kings Island 1973 Pop-Up Video. Their episode was entitled, "I Left My Heart in Cincinnati."
Another fact, the costumed characters that Bobby and Cindy were shaking hands with were a couple of the Banana Splits. They had there own series in the early 70's. There are episodes uploaded here on YT for those that want to check them out. They are "groovy" as hell. Peace.

My parents, my brother and I went to this amusement park when my brother and I were kids. I found it hard to believe that they filmed a Brady Bunch episode, there.
It is the ultimate rollercoaster, imo. There are other bigger, badder ones now, but none as fun as The Beast. Plus, it's a nice long ride, unlike most that are over before you can blink.
I went to the same school as Eve Plumb. I missed her by a year or two. All the kids that knew her asked everyone to watch her Dawn movie back in the 70's.

When Kings Island opened in 1972, it was arguably one of, if not THE greatest park in the country. Cincinnati based Taft Broadcasting built the park, which was its flagship park, along with Kings Dominion in Richmond Va, and I believe Carowinds also. For many many years Kings Island's attendance topped all seasonal parks in the US and it is still usually up in the top 2 along with Cedar Point today. Taft Broadcasting promoted the park heavily as a National Destination when they owned it, however beginning with Paramount's and later Cedar Points ownership the National promotional efforts turned into much more of just a regional effort. When I was a child in the mid 70s, visiting this park with my parents from nearby Southern Indiana was by far my favorite day of the year. Over the years I think the park has lost some of its luster because of both the decrease in promotion and also the complete over emphasis of thrill rides replacing family rides...While super thrill rides are necessary and always make a big splash,, it's also important to have more family oriented attractions for long term stability. I think the current owners Cedar Point realize this and it's a big reason they are beginning to bring more family attractions back.. The Dolphin Show was a classic in the 70s along with the Biplanes show with skydivers, the train ride when it had real actors, The Enchanted Voyage was a classic, Lion Country Safaris monorail gave it a Disney like feel, along with the Skyride The major improvements to the Royal Fountain and International Street area this year, along with the return of the Classic Car Ride were major steps in the right direction in my view... It also appears that possibly a major roller coaster is in the works for 2020 in an area slightly north and east of the Racer. Now if only they could get the promotional spots going again like they were in the 70s.
The same "Wheel of Fortune" ride in this video was relocated to a small amusement park in my state, so its nice to have a little piece of Kings Island history here in PA. I cherish it also because Florence Henderson rode on it ( :
This is really cool to look at. I've gone to Kings Island all my life, but I was born in 1981, and a lot of rides, like the canoe ride and that black/red one, I didn't know about. And the Racers red tracks are so bright and new.
Thank you for the "pop-ups." On other sites, I find them irritating and unnecessary, but this gave a good look into the park, the show, and the actors. Nice blend of history and nostalgia.
Nice job on your video. Good thing it was the last season, the show was “played”. Brady Bunch had a subtle base of slapstick, I think the world had moved on by ‘73.
That was too cool, I've been there tons of times. I was born in 1989 so when I visited it had ofcourse expanded and there were newer rides. Crazy to think I had my first trip to Kings Island just 45 years after this filmed. I think I actually rode The Racer on the same side they did, as only one side was running the day I went. I can't wait to visit KI this summer.
Was there in the very early 80's. All of this was still there. The one coaster (I think it was the Racer) was running really fast one night and scared the crap out of people. It felt like you'd get tossed right out on those little whop-dee-do hills and no one was NOT holding on to the bar.
I live near Kings Island and I go every year it’s nice to know that famous abc sitcoms such as the Patridge Family and The Brady Bunch was there when it first opened. If u don’t live near Kings Island it is way better than in 1973

And it would've been nice to see the entire episode with pop-ups.
I loved pop up video!
good old kings island, kinda makes me wanna go back
Loved that and thanks for posting it. Take care now.
Was there in the very early 80's. All of this was still there. The one coaster (I think it was the Racer) was running really fast one night and scared the crap out of people. It felt like you'd get tossed right out on those little whop-dee-do hills and no one was NOT holding on to the bar.
It's pretty cool to see rides that I ride now, almost 40 years younger
I love this episode
I highly doubt the park guests were upset by being in a Brady bunch episode.
If I were alive at the time, I wouldn’t be upset. I grew up with this show.
@@MrDash03 if you were alive? Are you dead? Lol
Nah, he just died for a couple of month and then came back to life.
@@josephalfonsoamantia7028 He came back during the last part of Avengers Endgame after Thanos was defeated.
cool episode. Liked the pop ups.
RIP ROBERT REED, ANN B. DAVIS

PressYourLuckAndStuff And now Florence Henderson too😢
so sad,all the best ones are going
Best Brady episode of them all.
JamieB Brnsde they should have made this a two part episode but not 3 like Hawaii or the Grand canyon episodes.
They should have made an entire SEASON of this episode.
I actually LOVED the "Wheel of Fortune" ride....hated to see it torn down....
Jan's plaid pants. I want them.
Just think...every kid you see is in late 50's to mid 60's now......sigh...….
Fake news. Some of them are dead.
Yeah I'm one of them 53
I live near Kings Island and I go every year it’s nice to know that famous abc sitcoms such as the Patridge Family and The Brady Bunch was there when it first opened. If u don’t live near Kings Island it is way better than in 1973
The last scene before the rollercoaster ride was filmed while it was raining.
