I love flying my F-22, its a fantastic value jet. It has plenty of power and I'm getting 5 minutes flight time with a 4s 2200 and still have about 40% battery left, so will put my timer up to 6 minutes. I have some up elevator on the gear switch just for launching which stops it sinking after hand launching (as I dont have the wheels on it), then switch it off once it climbs a bit. It can be slowed down soooo slow for landing too. One thing I will say to look out for is that it was sitting on the ground today and a gust of wind blew on the tailplane and pulled it completely off the mounting plate that it is glued to. Im just so glad it happened on the ground!! On closer inspection I found that the plate was glued onto the tailplane with just a miniscule amount of some sort of rubbery glue which was just peeling off. I cleaned it all off, roughened up the plastic and stuck it back on with epoxy. I took the other side off and did the same just in case. So I would advise if you have one of these planes, PLEASE CHECK YOUR TAILPLANE IS GLUED PROPERLY ONTO THE PLATE THAT HAS THE CONTROL HORN ON IT.
I'm getting 3 minutes on a 3S 2200 in my Motion RC version 1, 64 mm Freewing. Was looking to upgrade to the 4S but I love the idea of twin 40's and the option to use thrust diff. If it truly gets 4 minutes on a 4S 2200 I'm definitely sold! Lord knows we need more flight times with these EDF's. OH, BTW..... If thrust diff not used one can simply attach an invisible rudder on the nose gear. I did this and as simple as it is, it works in turns and line up for landings.
those full span stabilators are such a level up from the XFly SU-27, speaking of which thanks so much for the video on that, great recommendation and review by you guys! might even try this one out too after having such a blast with that nimble little Sukhoi.
Interesting that you found yours to be "powerful", I had one and found it a bit underpowered. I have the XFly Eagle and that wing has tons of power and almost unlimited vertical, so when I got the chance to get this F-22 with the same system, I figured it ought to be fun. Although the plane flies fantastic once in the air, launching it proved to be quite challenging and I never experienced the same power and performance I get from the Eagle. Even in your video you can see the plane sinking rather fast towards the ground just before you get your hands on the elevator. I had someone else launch mine 90% of the time and eventually, I got tired of it and sold it only a couple of weeks after owning it. I never flew it with the gear as I was 100% committed to hand launching it just like I do the Eagle. One thing I did do that helped launching it on my own was to have a mix of about 5% up elevator on my gear switch. So I'd flip the switch, go full throttle and launch. As soon as I had both hands on the radio, I'd flip the gear switch off and elevator returned to neutral. I launched a couple of times like that and it helped prevent the plane from sinking so fast. It's a beautiful plane, sounds great and flies great, just didn't have the power I was expecting (which made tricky to launch) and it felt a bit mundane after a while. Maybe I'll revisit this one another time, but sold it for what I paid for it, so didn't lose anything and put the money towards a new FW 90mm F-18 which I'm yet to maiden. Not a bad upgrade, I think. 😁
Well we didn't experience anything as you did! The plane did the sink because of my elevator settings as it was a Maiden Flight, so no trims set at all. We never had a problem with power or felt it was sluggish or underpowered. It was surprisingly good on power. Launches are easy and simple. Thanks for checking us out from across the pond!
Thanks for narrowing that down! 😶 Judging by the way you fly EDFs in your videos, I was thinking you would have said the Freewing F-22 Raptor High Performance 90mm EDF?
I havee the freewing f22 64mm and love it. Must say this xfly is pretty much same size , but looks more powerfull....and is actually cheaper here in the UK than the freewing. I was surprised as the freewing is a very good price to start with. Andy in uk.

Awesome 👌 info and great advice 👍

Good choice! Keep em flying!

Glad you like them!

Finally a video without landing gear. So ugly and draggy with the fixed gear . Might have to get one
Hahaha, I thought the same thing. If it doesn't retract, then I'm not gonna look at them, lol 😆
The flights were done without SAFE or AS3X since it has a AR620, right?
Yeah, no safe or as3x, so with it it would be even better.
Awesome, thanks for the quick reply!
As always, great review, camera work and flying! Question, out of all the EDFs you've flow in your videos, which do you enjoy most?
Ooooh tough question but I really enjoy the Xfly alpha jet, Eflite Viper 90 and Freewing Avanti and A10 80mm

How would you compare it to Freewing's 64mm F-22?
It's basically the same thing really not much difference than price

Wait a Minute.... I know that guy!!!!!
