I made these today with my daughter. It worked perfectly. We added orange zest and rose petals and it amped up the scents. This recipe made lovely bath bombs, and adding the water into the oil and food coloring mixture did not make the dry ingredients react before making the molds. It worked perfectly. I’ll be adjusting the added scents with other dried flowers in the future. Thank you for sharing your video.
My daughters have been interested in making these for a while so today we have made them using your instructions & tutorial. I managed to source the citric acid from an independent health food shop (was in the wine making section?!) and we used bicarbonate of soda. I had some rose essence left over from cake making. I used olive oil, but next time I will use almond oil as it isn't as strong smelling. We didn't have moulds so we used a silicone cupcake mould. Patted them down firmly and turned them out like sandcastles on some baking paper on a tray, to dry out. They look great & smell lovely. We are already discussing future designs & fragrances. Thank you for the tutorial. It has provided some entertainment on a wet afternoon in England!
Sunflower oil is also a very light oil that doesn't smell much. Citric acid can also be bought online from candy supply vendors, because it's used to add sourness to citrus candies.
I made these today ( after a long and interesting search for citric acid) and I have to say, I love them! I didn't have much food colouring, so I used a red soap colouring, which worked just as well. I didn't use as much, because I wanted a lighter colour. It worked really well, the colour was a light marshmallow-pink. Awesome. I can't buy essential oils easily where I live (and shipping is a no-no) so I just used soap flavouring I found in my cupboards, in vanilla. The smell was just as amazing! I was super happy! I used almond oil instead of olive oil, as I find it a bit more moisturising and I didn't have the oilyness from the essential oils. I found that the mixture was a bit dry though, so I added one or two more teaspoons of almond oil and it was perfect. I also couldn't find a mould anywhere in any of the shops and as I said, shipping was too complicated for where I lived so i tried using silicone cupcake moulds. Well, lets just say those FAILED EPICLY. LOL. I dug around in my cupboards and found a smallish bowl and an eggcup. I followed your instructions on removing the mould and they worked perfectly. The mixture was enough for 10 large bombs and 2 smaller ones. Nearer to the end, I started playing around with them by adding sprinkles into the bottom of the mould and into the mixture. They were even more beautiful than the others! Success! I am now looking forward to a future of vanilla-cupcake-marshmallow baths. Thank you so much for your awesome tutorial, it was so helpful. The bath bombs turned out beautifully!
It took me a long time to figure out how to make these bombs. Finally mastered it but I use stainless steel molds now. Once you use bombs you never want to take a shower again!
Sorry I have just viewed this video and I can't seem to find the description box can you please list the amounts for each ingredient? Thanks you in advance.
I have to give credit when it’s due and your the first to leave one of the best!!! And simple instructions explained very well might I add I’m late I know… getting to your video but thanks so much job well done 👍🏾
Wanted to do this 4 years back.. Bought the ingredients but left inside cupboard and realised it was there today! Oh well. Corn Starch (exp 2017) and Citric acid (exp 2018) had expired.. Any idea if these still be use for making bathbomb now?
Thank you SO much for making this video! I just found out about bath bombs today on TH-cam and as a bath lover, I looked them up and was saddened when I saw they are around $7 for ONE ball! As a college student, I don't have money for that! This is relatively inexpensive and I cannot wait to make tons of these for myself and hopefully as gifts for friends and family :)
Unless you have citric acid this will bot fizz it will just blend into the water.the baking soda dosent set off the reaction the citric acid and bake ing soda do.
I made a bath bomb for the first time using a recipe I found. It was 1 cup baking soda, 1 cup epsom salt, 1/2 cup corn starch; food coloring (for color), 3/4 tbsp water, 1 tbsp coconut oil, and 1/2 cup lemon juice. I didn’t add epsom salt (forgot to) and not enough lemon juice (for liquid). Mine fell apart. How do I measure out enough ingredients so that it doesn’t happen again or where did I go wrong, where the fell apart after they dried and taken out of the mold?
Carstina Beauty Thanks for the reply. :) Do you have any rights on that formula actually? We are having a school project at the moment where several groups have to produce and sell a good. I would like to present the bath bombs as idea but I don't want to steal something.
It doesn't take a week to hold shape. They don't require curing. Curing is a product that is unsafe to use immediately. These are not unsafe, they just aren't dry. I leave mine in the mold maybe 5 minutes and carefully remove from the mold as she showed. Within a few hours you can package them and they are harder. Within a day or two they should be very hard, which is a good thing! =o)
hello! I love your recIpe for bath bombs. I find very usefull that you used grams instead of cups, becouse in my country we don't use cups for measuring and it's difficult for me to convert everything.(i am a littlebit lazy for doing converting :D) I used combination of lavender, bergamot and ylang ylan esential oils and it smells awesome!! i even added some dry lavender petals. I also used fine sea salt instead of Epsom salt. I add even more oil and water becouse bombs were breaking all the time. So that way i succeeded. YOUR RECIPE IS TOTALLY AWESOME I LOVE IT AND IS SO SIMPLE. I AM REALY GRATEFULL THAT YOU POSTED THIS VIDEO! I WATCH SO MANY OF THEM TRYING TO FIND THE SIMPLEST ONE AND THIS ONE WORKED FOR ME JUST FINE... NO, NOT JUST FINE IT WORKED AWESOOOOOME :D THANK YOU AGAIN JJ
Thank you, I'm looking forward to trying your recipe. Can you tell us how many the recipe would make and the size mold you use? We know it depends, especially for theme shaped molds, but just the round clear mold and how many inches across it is, please.
ok for us folks that are not bakers the recipe is 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup citric acid, 1/2 cup corn flour, 1/2 cup epsom salts, 1 tsp water, 2 tsp essential oil or 10ml, 3 tsp olive oil, and coloring.
I believe those same kinds of molds are available at Walmart (and other stores with a christmas section) during the holidays/whenever people start putting out their Christmas stuff! I've only seen sphere ornaments, though.
Wow this doesn't seem bad at all. I feel like im wasting my time because when I'm done with my college work I just go on my phone. I would love a hobby to do
thank you so much we dont have this in mexico ( or at least i havent seen a lush store neat me) and thanks to you i can try this things i just need to get a mold.

Hi! how many bombs did you get from this recipe? and how long did you leave them to dry?? thank you! :)
What oil did u use ✨
Why does the bath ball not float up
The essential oil I use

Shelly Tan that last sentence explains everything.
Yea I know
Cathy Emery stop plz

Ive been trying to find a decent video. 4 videos later. Finally found a good one! Thanks! 💙🇦🇺
Such a cool video! Now I don't have to completely break my bank at Lush
Thank You for the down to earth tutorial. I simply wanted to learn how to put these together and You gave perfect instructions on how to do that.

@@jarvisfarley4282 225g Baking soda
113g citric acid
113g corn flour (cornstarch)
113g Epsom salts
1 tsp water
2 tsp essential oil
3 tsp oil e.g. olive oil
Food colouring
tip: instead of getting a mold, you could use an egg poacher or a plastic easter egg
spottedstar1123 omg thank you so much dont know how i didnt think of that
spottedstar1123 omg thank uuuu!!
plastic Easter egg! Eggcellent idea! (Bummer I just bought molds from Amazon. Oh well, 6 bucks for 3.)
Or for a smaller and oval one you could use the shell from silly putty
spottedstar1ice trays as well
Extra, really extra, very good work
Omg you sound like rebel Wilson! Great tutorial xx

My boys love bath bombs, we are going to make these, thank you.
How long do they take to dry? And how should they be stored? Love this video!
I saw somewhere that once it's dried you store them in an airtight container
I hear a New Zealand Accent :) awesome video, you have a new subscriber
Caro You do! Thank you so much :)

Thank you. Not all American's are so rude as a previous post . I am sorry someone was so rude. nice recipe thanks again
I don't take offence, that's just what some people are like especially on TH-cam. Your welcome :)
How do you even know that they were American? Kinda racist even if you didnt mean it like that.....
Deborah Koh cuz the girl said she lived in the us....
American isn't a race, it's a nationality.
Will it still explode in the bath?
Yes
Parker Best this comment made me laugh for no reason
well sort of, it should fizz like crazy and dissolve into the water.
not really explode lol
it will fizz a little because it has baking soda :)
Unless you have citric acid this will bot fizz it will just blend into the water.the baking soda dosent set off the reaction the citric acid and bake ing soda do.
Could yu jus put it all in a jar and sprinkle in tub when u bath?
luanne roeder Yup, but thats usually called bath salts :)
Good idea
luanne roeder yes you can just put it in a jar instead of a mold and they have videos on it it is called fizzy bath salts

You make a wonderful video Carina! The simplest method I have seen.
LuSinda Dionne Thank you so much :)
Hi Carina
awaiting my molds to make these bath fizzies. Prefer this name than the one beginning with B. Think how this looks to gmail.
can you use bath salts? instead of Epson salts?
u kinda sound like rebel wilson
+Christine Miller Rebel is from Aussie. We are Kiwi's, different accents :P
We're sensitive about it like the Canadians with the American accent :D
+Janine Wilson oh ok sorry i didnt know
Can you add a flavor so the water 'smells'? :)
HowIMetYourSmurf Essential oils are usually what has the scent but you could add something else if you wanted to :)
Carstina Beauty Thanks for the reply. :)
Do you have any rights on that formula actually? We are having a school project at the moment where several groups have to produce and sell a good. I would like to present the bath bombs as idea but I don't want to steal something.
HowIMetYourSmurf I've sort of changed it around from a lot of different recipes so it's completely my own :) You wouldn't be stealing anything
Carstina What do bath bombs do?
Chibi Sketchbook Well they kind of change the bath water or something like that.
My daughter loves bath bombs, I guess I'm going to be buying some ingredients ;-) thanks
Thank you for an amazingly simple recipe and easy-to-follow instructions.
Mmmm slight problem.... Where do you buy citric acid?
The acid store
Online or stores that sell in bulk like Bulk Barn for example and some grocery stores.
Amazon
you can actually use limon juice.
lemon juice will cause the reaction because its wet. dry citric acid works best
Can you do a demo of this in the water please
This is such a nice thought, I hope you'll do more.
Thank you! I've got quite a few other DIYs :)
Your the best u know my kids love your diys thank u🙏🙏
About to make mine now :D Been excitedly waiting for all my bits to turn up from amazon and ebay, finally there here ! Thanks for the tutorial : )
