notes:
i try to keep screen movement to a minimum when taking out screws 3:01-4:15 because i don't want to put any unnecessary stress on the remaining hinge screws under the palmrest/keyboard which rely on these screws for support

Although it was 4 years ago now you uploaded this, thank you for doing so. I recently acquired one of these laptops. It's in near mint condition, but needed a little work. Just upgraded it with an SSD and upped it to 8GB RAM and it now runs beautifully with Windows 10. Still plenty of life left to give for every day tasks.
I have one of those, but sadly it has too many problems to the point that it'd be too expensive to fix. I've been thinking about stripping the RAM from it and adding to another functional laptop, but I didn't get the chance to check the RAM when the notebook was still usable. Are the sticks 1 4gb and 1 2gb (totalling 6gb)? Or is yours different?
@@arthurheine5631 mine personally has 4gb RAM and has 2 RAM slots so it is a 2x2 configuration

@@sex_therapist Thanks for the info! However I ended up giving the laptop to a person whose laptop was worse, therefore being cheaper for them to fix mine and keep it than to buy a new one

If your model is with an i3 you could put an i5 to improve the experience, that was going to be the max upgrades for this laptop

I missed some screws IV got too get too the cooling fan and give it a good clean out it's over heating after years of sucking in Dust
I upgraded the memory a few years back
There Really good computers mine still runs really good minus the over heating issue

Yes, the CMOS battery is removable. But, do not replace it until absolutely necessary.
Please, is it possible to upgrade the processor to a higher processor that supports virtualization?
With me the hard drive is completely stuck and wont come out.
For who has a one of this and want "more performance" put an i5, you could also put an i7, but i7 first generation doesn't have integrated graphics and there's a bigger tdp (45 watts) than the i3 (35 watts)

This computer may be old but does anyone know if it can handle 16gb ram my grandpa bought it and then gave it to my dad then to me and as a tech guy no one in thr forums talks about this laptop sure you can throw any ssd and better wifi card but I don't know about the ram it is ddr3 tho

Laptop was abused from the word go... Missing rubber feet, some keyboard keys... who does that to a laptop?
I have the same laptop. the keyboard is simply garbage. I lost two keys and many many others have been falling and I put them back. This is the worst kind of laptop keyboard you can ever use.
