Thank you so much for doing this. Learned a lot of edge related tips and tricks and the basic workflow in modeling swords like these. Hope you do more of these tutorials in the future with not much know tips and tricks wedged in between as well.
Hello, I am trying to do the extrude to add the detail you added on the hilt. What did you do to merge the vertex to smooth the mesh? Combining the vertex doesnt seem to be working, they don't move when I do edit mesh -> merge. It also wont let me select vertex individually because theyre duplicated. How can i fix it?
I have 2023 maya and used the multicut tool to lay in edge loops. How ever it's only just dropping one. Each time I go to outer edge line, press control there isn't a new edge loop that shows up.
hi ! let's try to solve this. There are few other options you can use to add multiple tools. Try the "Insert Edge Loop Tool" here is the documentation from Autodesk. Let me know if this helps. help.autodesk.com/view/MAYAUL/2025/ENU/?guid=GUID-226AECD6-F2C0-48D7-BE16-39E52EE7F075
Sorry . i got stuck on deforming the middle edge at 3 minute mark . Tried but it just wont work it gives me a error related to the selected object not being a polygon . How do u do this? Anyway i can fix it?
Hi! Try restarting Maya first. Also Are you modeling with polys or nurb surfaces? Hopefully polygons, now select the verts that you need in your blade first then activate a lattice deformer. A rectangular shape should appear, right mouse button click and select the verts in your deformer and you should be able to adjust it. Let me know how this goes.
@@mahanmzj1065 modeling with nurb surfaces has its advantages ie. CAD, but if you’re modeling for games or film, it’ll be much more useful if you model with polygons ッ
Help. Im trying so hard to get the lattice right but the points are not matching, making the fuller "narrow" all the way from top to bottom, rather than "wide to narrow".
@@kristine3D 😁 Your welcome and especially in Maya. I am learning new stuff all the time even watching your vid I was like "Oh wow! I didn't know that trick."

Hi poppy! Let’s try to fix that! Could you give me the time stamp of where you’re at in the modeling?

@@kristine3D sharing is caring
Appreciate the tutorial but would be better if you went a lot slower. I had to watch it at 0.25x speed at times.
hope it was helpful ! and im trying to manage a happy middle between too slow and too fast. Feedbacks are appreciated, thank you ッ

@@kristine3D You might know this or not but another way to slide edges you can hold control and shift then select which vector to slide the edge.
Yes, this is another way ! It's great that you commented this, hopefully people will see. Sharing techniques with each other is awesome, thank you .
