- I gave 2 Pokemon Types to every Overwatch Heroes. Some are more accurate than others but I still tried my best. This does involve generation 9 Pokemon (if it didn't some heroes wouldn't have typings).
The Rules are:
- Must give 2 types to each hero (no single types)
- Must use every typing
- No duplicate dual typings (Heroes can't have the same typings)

Pokestar Studios was a side mode that you got to play after the second gym in Black 2 and White 2. I always found it boring, but Chuggaaconroy's doing his B2W2 Let's Play as I type and he already has an episode where he goes through PSS and speaks highly of it. It's worth checking out.
I thought Steel + grass was obvious for bastion as he was turned of in the forest with moss on him. But I guess you went with steel dark. Audio was fine for me
I feel like Doomfist should be fighting electric because he has got a giant metal fist, and it can be charged up with electricity. When he punches, electricity comes out of his fist. Also, there's literally a move called electric punch, which would make perfect sense for him.

Ana really could've been Poison, since her whole kit is kinda based on different kinds of poison.

Junkerqueen should be fighting poison imo, since her bleed and the anti on her ult is kind of like poison.
she does use electromagnetism for her abilities tho, so figthing/electric could also work

Kiriko should've been fairy ghost! Fairy types are typically "cute" or "attractive" and can also be great healers. And a Kitsune is a Japanese fox spirit from mythology.
I was thinking that the whole time and I was like when he said fighting I went nope incorrect you missed a massive chance, it just also fits her perfectly
I think dark type also would’ve worked a lot more than fighting as well as dark types are the ones with Prankster and Trick Room, and the Kitsune is a mischievous spirit.
Especially considering he used Fairy because of the spirit aspect for Kiriko.

Personally I think Electric/Normal would work better for Lucio because most sound related moves fall under the normal type
A shame that Pokémon doesn't have a "sound" typing.
Whismur, Loudred and Exploud would be the prime candidates for this typing, and that could apply to Lucio too
Lucio would probably be normal electric tbh. There are a lot of normal moves that could be considered sound type moves, so normal has just become the obligatory sound type.

He could still be electric/water IF he gets an ability that boosts the power of sound based moves otherwise electric/normal makes perfect sense
The problem I have with a lot of these is a fundamental misunderstanding of the Dark type - it's not the "absence of light" type, its literally called the "Evil type" in JPN. This is why moves like Bite and Sucker Punch are Dark type (they're dirty tactics), why Dark ISN'T super effective against Grass (people argue it should be because plants need light to grow) and why we didn't have a Dark type gym leader until Gen 8. While Elite 4 are purely focused on being powerful, Gym Leaders are supposed to be role models, which conflicts with the idea of specialising in "evil". It's also worth noting that the only Dark type gym leader to date was the bigoted leader of an evil team, planning to rig a national sporting event for his family's benefit.
With that in mind, here's a few of the changes I'd make:
~ Doomfist becomes Fighting/Dark. He's the big bad villain of OW's story, he HAS to have Dark typing.
~ Widowmaker becomes Poison/Bug. Sure, she's part of Talon, but Amelie is a victim with no agency of her own. As such, she can't really be called evil.
~ Zarya having Dark because "something something black holes" becomes null and void. With the fact she's an Olympic level weightlifter, who sacrificed her chance of fame to fight on the front lines, I'd have put Fighting has one of her typings (leaving her as an Ice/Fighting type).
~ Moira's whole announcement was hype and carried weight because "we finally have an evil support!! YOOOOO!!" Her defining characteristic is her amorality, switching her from Ghost/Poison to Dark/Poison would be more than appropriate here (and it's available now that Widow has been retyped).

It stands to reason that black holes are supposed to be associated with the psychic type, actually. Because psychic typing relate to astrology and astral energies. For example, Gardevoir is known to create black holes in response to danger. It isn't dark because it generates an absence of light, it is psychic because black holes are an astral force of nature.
@@neferacronia6798The dark type z move is a black hole. Dusclops (part dark type) is said to have a body like a black hole. Guzzlord (also part dark type) eats constantly but never leaves droppings--perhaps because Guzzlord is also like a black hole and what it eats is destroyed at an atomic level from the gravity.
Speaking of, using black holes against your opponents is very much evil (I mean just look at what a few moments of exposure did to Sigma), you're spaghattifying them! That's basically torture.
Although it should be noted that Zarya's ultimate isn't actually referred to as a black hole. It's called "Graviton Surge" and it's description calls it a "gravity bomb".
With this in mind, we can look to the move "Gravity". It is psychic type, and causes gravity to be amplified for a brief period.
This, I think, is the closest thing we'll get to Zarya's ultimate.
Tldr: Black holes are dark type because of what they do; Gravity bombs are psychic
Note: Honestly, most psychic type moves could be attributed to the manipulation of gravity

Brigitte i would say Steel + Fairy because she heals her team, something very fairy like, she always wears an armor which represents the steel. Also Tinkaton is that type and Tinkaton just looks like a mini Reinhart

Personally I think she should of been Ice/Psychic, most psychic Pokémon use something similar to the color scheme and abilities, along with beams, shields, gravity, etc
I think Fire/Flying would make more sense for Pharah concerning her heavy use of explosives, a bit like Junkrat.
Mercy's April Fool's ultimate voice line was "Moth formation, go!" So I think Flying/Bug type would be better. Butterfree
i think flying fairy works way better because mercy is a literal angel, which works super well with fairy. moths are also connected to fairytales and look kinda fairy like

Also, I think Bug-Type would work really well for Moira. Not only because in a pre-game interaction between Moira and Reinhardt where Moira compares herself to a centipede which are some of the most impressively dangerous insects, but because when Moira-Mains go dps they are as annoying as mosquitos.

@@LumaSloth Biology doesn't sound like a specific enough topic to me (Like giving Pokemon typings to fps characters), but I guess that works too.
I like this idea because insects naturally evolve faster than mammals due to their rate of reproduction. And yea it makes sense she would want to mimic creatures that can take down foes much larger than them.
i think the "no monotypes", "no duplicates", and "Must use every type" rules just made it so all of the heroes' types were just EXTREMELY innacurate, meaning the video as a whole was kinda lame. Also BOB should have gotten his own seperate type.
Edit: also, saying a hero shouldn't be a type because they aren't tanky enough doesn't make sense- i though this was about overwatch and pokemon lore, not gameplay???
This is what I would make the types for the Overwatch Characters (Tanks):
D.Va- Electric Steel (rides a giant mech, is a gamer, massive electrical explosion as her ult)
Pokémon of choice: Magnezone
Doomfist- Dark Fighting (Martial artist, leader of Talon, always scheming evil plans)
Pokémon of choice- Urshifu (single strike form)
Junker Queen- Poison Fighting (Punk-like, ruler of Junkertown, many anti-heal abilities)
Pokémon of choice- Toxicroak
Orisa- Bug Steel (Same reasons as shown in video)
Pokémon of choice- Scizor (shiny)
Reinhardt- Ground Steel (Same reasons as shown in video)
Pokémon of choice- Steelix
Roadhog- Poison Ground (Fights on the ground, is overall gross, pigs are associated with dirt)
Pokémon of choice- Nidoking
Sigma- Psychic Dark (Cosmic abilities associated with psychic type, can float, result of malicious experiments)
Pokémon of choice- Malamar
Winston- Electric Fighting (Can’t really fly but can leap far, uses barrier technology, electrical cannon, strong gorilla)
Pokémon of choice- Pawmot
Wrecking Ball- Steel Normal (Massive steel ball, rodents are mainly associated with normal type, ball and hamster are separate)
Pokémon of choice- ?
Zarya- Electric Psychic- (Particle Manipulation, Electricity associated with energy, Defensive shields in Pokémon associated with psychic type such as Reflect and Light Screen)
Pokémon of Choice- Alolan Raichu

I’m still so surprised there isn’t any normal/steel type Pokémon like you would think since there are like 1000 Pokémon that every possible dual typing would be filled but no and a lot only have 1-3 like poison/ghost (Moira should’ve been Haunter bc of the hands btw) and fire/steel

I think that dark instead of ghost would work way better for Moira. Dark in Japan is also known as the evil type, and Moira is very cruel in her experiments and total disregard for life.
i think giving dark for every villain is kinda lazy. i think ghost fits well since she can turn into a ghost and basically made reap a ghost.
I really like the idea of Moira being Poison Fairy. Poison is obvious but she really gives that Fairy feel

Lightning makes more sense for Tracer because her blinking around is like a flash of lightning, fast as lightning. Also, she’s the mascot of Overwatch while Pikachu is the mascot of Pokémon who’s also an electric type.
I'd say Orissa is a Forretres, cause her ulti is effectively an explosion.

Junkrat should be Fire Grass or Fire Poison. Fire grass because the move "Snap Trap", a move where you snare your opponent with what is obviously a steel bear trap, is grass type. Fire poison because the motor doesn't spin a magnet, generating electricity for a battery, the motor just spins the wheel directly, thus poison for the smog spewing from it. Typing this, he could also be Fire Psychic as to explain how he telekinetically guides the rip tire and sets bear traps from 20 meters away.
Not giving Hanzo 'Zweilous' given his ult is two dragons feels like a crime
10:13 fun fact, when doom was in his early development stage he used to grab a rock from the ground and throw it. They decided it didn’t fit the hero and eventually gave the ability to sigma!

I felt like junker queen should be Fighting and electric type. She is a fighter but also uses a lot of electric magnetic and I know some electric type moves has paralyzed effects and would give out slight pains.

I think you missed the mark.. like a lot. It made me so aggravated that I made my own entire list. Odds are if you don't think any of the Pokemon with those types match them even remotely- then you gave them bad types
Pokestar studios is a place in Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, it allows players to make movies by simply fighting oponents with their pokemon. These oponents are coded and handled like pokemon, despite not being pokemon. Hope that explains it
Honestly Ramattra should have been Bug/Steel.
Not only is he made of metal, he's an engineer (like Tinkaton; "From one engineer to another" pre-game voiceline with Hammond), so steel is a no-brainer
Bug also just makes sense. Practically all bug types have exoskeletons or carapaces of some kind (Crustle's rock shell, Durant's steel armor, Burmy and Wormadam's coats) and Ramattra uses nanobots to create his Nemesis form, which makes him more durable like a shell. Not only this, but his void accelerator, ravenous vortex, and annihilation also use nanobots to attack Ramattra's foes; ants are Ramattra's favourite animal, so its clear that working together to overcome foes is very important to him (also seen in other voice lines of his). Plus, the Bug Type moves "Attack Order" and "Defend Order" (signature of Vespiquen) has the user (Vespiquen) "call out its underlings", just as Ramattra commands his comrades and nanites in combat.

to sigma i would give dragon since its a type that has some cocnection with cosmic powers like gravity, also one of the moves is Draco Meteor wich is a rock
Very nice! I actually made a list of this myself 6 years ago when Overwatch first came out, shortly after Ana got added. I didn’t have the rule of having to use every type at least once, or of making everything dual type, but I also gave them each an ability. Out of the 22 original characters, we only gave 4 of them the same exact typing (Lucio, Mercy, Winston, and Zenyatta). I liked a lot of your justifications behind the types you chose as well!

Personally, i would have done psychic/ghost for tracer. In her origin story she likens herself to a ghost, and you are literally using the Wisp skin.

Brigitte getting smack down makes so much sense.
I can see Echo as Flying Psychic because she’s got the psyche of her creator inside her brain, her super intelligence; and the ability to get Synchronize; plus Mew also learns transform.
I can see Grass Psychic for Lifeweaver and also Symmetra as Psychic Ice. The hard light is created by their imagination and the psychic type is the type of light screen which is their primary thing.
Moira as psychic type also makes bunch of sense because one her voice lines when she throws her damage orb is “a taste of poison”
I’m gonna have to hard disagree on Widowmaker because if she was Bug Poison she would be Ariados which is literally a spider.
Carya should definitely be Psychic Fighting, it just fits her so well
Junker Queen should’ve been Fighting Electric imo, because her ult is the magnet gauntlet. Not to mention her Zeus mythic skin

My theory is when overwatch characters go to the pokémon universe, they would train the pokémon that you chose.
Honestly, I could see Zen being Psychic / Fighting because the metal balls, me being a dnd nerd makes me think of the Monk class when I remember Zen is a monk.. aaannndddd the spartan kick that hits harder than Will Smith's slap

It’s Pokémon’s version of Hollywood.
You and your Pokémon basically fight props, robots, and Pokémon actors to make movies.
My man really giving electric to junkrat for a really obscure reason meanwhile he didn’t give it to junkerqueen when all her abilities are about magnetic stuff

I think for Junkrat Fire/Ground would fit well as he uses explosives and is mainly fighting on the ground with his mines, grenades and trap. For his Pokémon-Counterpart it could be Camerupt which is also fitting as they both can erupt and cause destruction with their fire-power. Ps: The robot you mentioned for Wrecking Ball is part of the Pokemovie-studio from Pokémon Black2/White2. You could star in scripted battles which then become part of movies and they also had special characters like this robot.

I did something similar to this for Magic: The Gathering. I tried associating each character, during OW1, to the color pie of Magic. I'll have to return to it, because I didn't take into consideration their backgrounds, but instead solely their ability.
The basis for these typings was wild

The revolver sound is becouse mercy changed the weapon to the gun in the Gameplay
Basic Rotom actually really fits Sombra. She can hack things and Rotom can posess electronics.
I would've done fighting and flying for doomfist since he can literally fly to appear anywhere on the map whenever he wants. also because his slam is similar to the move "flying press" which is only learned by Hawlucha, a pokemon i think is similar to doomfist
The Lunatone for Sigma is great for 2 bonus reasons. It gets the ability levitate which Sigma is constantly floating/levitating. And the moon is connected to gravity, which is Sigma's whole shtick with gravity (which he uses for his abilities, he controls gravity, which is different to telekinesis.
Minor nitpick, but lorewise Ramattra and Coballion are both incredibly similar. Coballion is a legendary Pokemon that has a resentment for humanity for their treatment of Pokemon. It leads other Pokemon into battle against humans in an effort to bring justice to the Pokemon people have hurt. Aka, literally what Ramattra does by leading Null Sector

Bastion could have also been a steel/ghost type, due to it being the last of its kind and the haunting memories from the war it represents.

I thunk Kirkuk would match better as a fairy ghost type because she can teleport, which could be considered as a ghostly thing and she can turn other invulnerable with her bomb thing, which makes them kinda like a ghost
Tracer could have been ghost type because in her origin story, after her incident, she became a ghost lost in time fazing in and out of existence.
I think zarya would be a psychic type cause of the move barrier or mime wall (or are those a different type moves? I haven't played Pokemon in a while)

Diva should have been steel/fairy because not all pokemon that fly are flying types and diva has fairy-like skins.
Nah, lucio's only typing that makes sense is Electric normal since almost all sound based moves are normal type
I feel like it should be said that Dark and Fairy type are types with dual/hidden meanings. Dark is usually assumed to just be for darkness, but it also stems from Evil and Sinister, in many languages like Spansih, the Dark type is called the Sinester type, basically giving an evil/mischief edge to those pokemon. And with fairy it is meant to be kinda like a light type and a mythic type, where it obviously acts as the counter for Dark type and a lot of its attacks refer to light or shine, and it's mythic in the sense of fairytales/folklore, which is why the Tapus are fairy types.
Im saying this because it helps justify giving characters like Hanzo and Widow the Dark type and Kiriko and Mercy the Fairy type
Also Psychic could work well for Mercy since Psychic has healing and revival moves that can revive/heal your teammate/other pokemon

4:11 isn’t there new 9th gen rock flying type Pokémon as well
The only one I disagree with is junkerqueen. I like the fighting typing, but I really think her 2nd one should be poison because she applies bleed to enemies as well as anti with ult
