This has helped me grow closer to God today, and be able to discern between the good word of the lord, and the corrupted or misguiding beliefs of others. Amen and praise God!
We all do. Thats why we are justified and washed by faith. In gods eyes we have been made righteous by the obedience of the Christ. Rest in his grace, have peace and knowledge you are his child and heavenbound.
Romans 13:9 KJVS For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
1:36 there's a difference between an idol and an icon. Both can be depictions of things. The key is in the word idol. When you turn an icon from a representation of the thing you worship to the focus of worship (say painting a scene from the bible, then later worshipping that painting instead of God). You are then idolizing the object/etc. Instead of God. Take the story with the golden calf, the people turn from God to worship the statue instead. Later God commands them to adorn the Ark with icons of cherubim. One is idolatry, the other is iconography. It's less about making depictions of things than it is about keeping your worship to God alone.

When Jesus talks about murder and adultery in the Sermon on the Mount, He is making application of "Do not covet". The Ten hang from the two greatest (Matthew 22:40) and even the second hangs on the first. It is impossible to break any of the Ten, or any other, without breaking the greatest one of all. We break them because we so easily forget the Lord's love for us (I John 4:19). Israel could not bear these commandments being spoken to them by the Lord. It might be interesting to do a follow up video about that. Not to mention the experience was essentially forgotten by them within 40 days.
Honest question. Since the Ten Commandments were lifted from the Egyptian book of the dead compiled 1300 years BCE, why are bible worshiping folk still believing in the story of Moses and the Ten Commandments? Is it denial? Or not actually being aware that these existed before the Bible and the Quran? Or did God send down a shorter version of commandments to Moses? Its confusing.
Just another way satan works he knows the future he is the master of confusion of course he throws in stories from GODS word into other false religions. The commandments have been around scince the beginning of time . How did Cain know when he murdered His brother that it was the wrong thing to do .that's why he buried him .
The Ten Commandments are the ministry of death and condemnation to bring man to the end of himself in humility to come to Jesus Christ through faith. Only Jesus Christ can fulfill the law which is what He did and died for our sins and rose again.
The good news according to Romans 8:3-4 is that when the Holy Spirit comes into our hearts, He not only fulfills (meaning carry out, doesnt mean abolish) the law for us but also fulfills (carry out) it in us. It is not us doing the work, but the Holy Spirit who is working in us, fulfilling (carrying out) and writing the law of love on our hearts.
This is the Christian view of the 10C's ... I believe the Jewish people combine 1 and 2 ... and #1 is the statement "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery" ... So 1. Freedom, 2 No other God's including idols ... sorry for being that nerd:-)
The speaker in this video lied. These commandments existed in the garden of Eden. God is intelligent. He created these laws before he created marriage in the Garden of Eden. He created the Sabbath, the family, sex, parents etc. in Genesis , therefore he created laws to protect each of those God made institutions back in Genesis . This institutions ( Sabbath, Marriage, sex, family , food/diet etc.) that was beneficial to all man kind. God wouldn’t create a law that protects marriage ( Thou Shall not commit Adultery ) that he created back in the garden of Eden 2000-3000 years before the Children of Israel in Exodus chapter 20. That’s ridiculous. God wouldn’t create parents in Genesis chapter 4 and make a law 2000-3000 years later telling children to Honor your parents. That’s silly.
Is the sabbath day saturday or sunday Because I see both being mentioned as the sabbath day (I know you said saturday but you also said the day at the end of the week so I also wanted to ask just in case it was a mistake)
The Sabbath day is a reference to Genesis 2, where it talks about God finishing His work of creation. So Saturday is the Sabbath and is called by that name on Jewish calendars. Gentiles came to use Sunday as the Sabbath because the Gentiles were not allowed to worship in the synagogues, so the Jewish Christians and Gentile Christians took to meeting together on Sundays. I am not sure how long it took for Sunday to be referred to as the Sabbath, but it now is by many. There is much contention about obedience to the law and what day to worship on. Peter says we are a kingdom of priests and Jesus said the priests break the Sabbath and yet are innocent. Even for those who observe in the strictest sense, their pastors, musicians, and other servants all work on the Sabbath day, most times harder than they do the rest of the week.
The Sabbath was given to Israel, not the church. The Sabbath is still Saturday, not Sunday, and has never been changed. The Sabbath is part of the Old Testament Law, and Born-Again Believers are free from the bondage of the law (Galatians 4:1-26; Romans 6:14). Sabbath-keeping is not required of the Born-Again Believers-be it Saturday or Sunday. The first day of the week, Sunday, the Lord’s Day (Revelation 1:10), celebrates the new creation, with Christ as our resurrected Savior. The apostle Paul said that each individual Born-Again Believer should decide whether to observe a Sabbath rest: “One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind” (Romans 14:5). We are to worship God every day, not just on Saturday or Sunday.
@@farmboy5622 The Sabbath was given long before Israel; it was given to Adam the day after he was created; therefore to everyone (Mark 2:27). The warning to keep the Sabbath was so no one would reject the gift of God, and rest is a gift from God. Just as God rested from creation, so those who love God rest from their work; just as Jesus rested from the work of salvation, so we rest from trying to save ourselves. Israel was given a law to rest one day a week, but the promise brings a permanent rest, seven times the command (see Hebrews 4). Those who do not fully rest from sin do not yet understand the love of the Lord as much as they need to (1 John 4:19).
Nelson you are missing HALF of the wisdom. The 10 commandments are the greatest most powerful spiritual laws on earth and not for a single reason that you mentioned. The bible was written in parables and you fell for the face value and missed the wisdom hidden underneath.
This has helped me grow closer to God today, and be able to discern between the good word of the lord, and the corrupted or misguiding beliefs of others. Amen and praise God!
I fail. But thank you God for your Son Jesus Christ.

Sin is transgression of the law.

Excellent video and explanation! Christ is KING!
Thx for the video I’m trying to get closer to God
Thank you for making this clear
Cool set up.
Agreed. Very Tron-esque. I love Tron lol
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house.
Remember the SEVENTH day keep it holy. This commandment seems to be the one that most people ignore.

Nice

I'm here for the hermeneutic gymnastics...
0:22 there's no nation of Israel when the tablets are given... it was being built, not already in existence.
1:51 that's not what the third commandment means... unless you're talking to third graders
2:25 NOR THE ALIEN... then he skips over that and moves on to the fifth commandment. HAHAHA

I don't get it. It's pretty easy to follow the ten commandments. I don't see them as rules. I see them as things he just won't do
I'm afraid there are plenty I would like to apply number six .
The Ten Commandments are the ministry of death and condemnation to bring man to the end of himself in humility to come to Jesus Christ through faith. Only Jesus Christ can fulfill the law which is what He did and died for our sins and rose again.
Correct , the law is designed to prepare you for grace.
