This is huge, both figuratively and literally. Kinda reminds me of The Great Maze from the Subspace Emissary. I've never seen SM64 modders consistently release content of this calibre; be proud. If you want some constructive critisise, I would recommend reimplementing the water in the water areas. But otherwise, THIS IS OUTSTANDING.

YURA YT a very common trope of Mario titles, to remix songs over and over. My mind was blown when I finally figured out Star Road world in SuperMarioWorld is just starman slowed down.
So, I was just playing this and found something kinda funny. If you pause and exit course everything goes back to normal, meaning it is just regular Mario 64 (you still have the wing cap with coins though), but if you try to use any warps it pulls up the star select screen and you get stuck in a loop of selecting the star and being teleported back to where you were. just thought I should share
And also if you enter cool cool mountain the game softlocks. (I assume this is because the open world level is assigned to cool cool mountain's spot and it isnt supposed to be entered through painting so it just softlocks it)
If you want to do a battle royale mode, maybe make it so the stars increase stats? That way there's more of an incentive to collect them and take them from others
404waffles - I can only think of 1 way. But it'd be today's battle royal games sideways: have either damaging water or lava slowly start to rise the kinda like the water triggers in certain levels. But the only downside is landing higher is always safer than exploring. Unless the map were to be randomly scattered Everytime, this would only work till the map becomes familiar
Or don't even do battle royale. Game ends when all stars are collected or timer runs out. Coins let you activate caps for getaways or for fighting but are limited (or even make it so you have to pick one of the 3 caps in the lobby before the game starts as your "loadout" so to speak, and - like in the real game - certain stars can only be obtained by having certain caps. Maybe mod and add some new cap ideas?). If you kill someone, you get all of their coins and stars, every time you die it adds time to your respawn timer (optional but I think it'd help keep people from throwing themselves at people in hopes to luck into a weak target, however with fall damage and the time it takes to fall from the sky, it might be a non-issue)

He actually showed in stream that he could add those objects as intended in the original game, but they're time consuming. There's no real hardware limitation to what he's doing right now. He just wanted to stitch all of the stages together on their own.

Kaze could've added all the objects back and there would've been no issues because not all objects are loaded at the same time, but it has to be manually done and it would take very long for him to finish it

Yeah, I did some exploration, and after coming near bob-omb battlefield there was a hole and I went into it and dropped into the beginning of Hazy Maze Cave.
Wet-Dry World is also kinda a hole entrance, except it's in Big Boo's Haunt and you can just enter the course straight away instead of having to get into a hole since there's ledges that fall into WDW.
I have a dream that one day Kaze will be coming with a new big ROMhack named Grand Theft Mario with a whole big city to explore, cars to steal and drive, toads and koopas to hit and kill, interiors to discover... *I am absolutely not looking at you begging for it to happen!*
So, Kaze can almost do everything with Mario 64. But can he make it run Doom. Edit: now I'm actually really curious if it's possible to recreate the likes of zombies, imps, weapons and explosive barrels inside SM64.

I, for one, had know idea who Simple was prior to Hobo Bros' 1st 10 TH-camrs VS 1 Speedrunner video, but I have known about both the *Shoutouts To SimpleFlips* meme because Internet memes & the concept of speedrunning due to Guinness. i don't think it could be in gmod, the full map seems way too big then again, OoT's map is in there, and this hack does use techniques to wrap mario's position inside a 16384 x 16384 box which i believe is the same limit as gmod
Hard to believe that just 20 years ago if you were to entertain the idea of seamless levels in SM64 that you would be laughed out of town. You never cease to amaze.
I just wanted to say thank you for putting all the work you have into your hacks, just in general. The amount of time and effort you put into this stuff is genuinely inspiring to me.
I kinda like how the music changes when going from one zone to another, so I'm sure there would be improvements to this mod to get the skybox to change as well. At least that's my opinion, based from memory from watching gameplay videos of the original.
I know you don't do these but, it would be awesome to have a full open world battle Royale of ocarina of Time or Majora's mask. But this is amazing none the less, I'd look forward to see people playing this.

An open world version of Mario 64? Honestly, this looks and sounds amazing. If this could somehow be made into a full game/hack for a solo adventure that would be amazing. I am a big fan of your other hacks (barring a few criticisms here and there) so I am very excited to see what you do with this in the future!
Even though I despise Battle Royale with a passion, there's no denying the fact that this is cool as fuck. I've always wondered what all the SM64 levels stitched together would look like... 🤔 Awesome work, dude!
2 main reasons: 1) sm64o was already C&D some time ago and back then i already wanted to quit the entire developement there. however, i had made a few promises about content that would still be added and i wanted to keep them. i believe its a bit too risky to keep developing this game much further 2) working in a team is very stressful for me and not really in my nature. i hate being held blamed for code i'm not editing and not being able to make all the decisions regarding the game myself. mainly the release of the 64bit only net64+ client, without releasing the original net64 client and the cryptominer, that had been added without notifying me, annoyed me to no end. some people ended up thinking i was running some sort of scam to have the program mine cryptocoins for me, when in reality, i wasn't related to that at all.
Case is point of why you NEVER START UP A DEV TEAM ON A PROJECT THAT YOU WANT TO RUN YOURSELF. I've seen this happen several times: the main and original developer either is removed by the others, or leaves voluntarily, due to several reasons. It becomes almost corporate and nonsense, instead of being a team effort. They start to focus on the project too much rather than the people involved behind the scenes. Ultimately its not the project that matters (well, partially yeah it does matter), but rather the people who bring it to you, the ones who come up with the ideas, that deserve the praise and respect. It really sucks that you fell into this trap, but on the bright side, you probably wont do that again, and at least it wasn't on a giant romhack like Last Impact.
This is a crazy cool idea! Have different hats scattered around. Metal cap gives you less damage, Yoshi cap flutter jumps, luigi higher jumps, etc. With items showing up to attack, like fire flowers, ice flower, etc. Coins are great use, stars can help you lower coin usage while flying, more health, etc. With different bosses scattered about and defeating them gives us items and coins. And the map shrinks with lava coming around or water.

yes, net64 actually already supports 28 players. making that like 40 would be no issue at all. problem is actually finding enough people to play.

An open world version of Mario 64? Honestly, this looks and sounds amazing. If this could somehow be made into a full game/hack for a solo adventure that would be amazing. I am a big fan of your other hacks (barring a few criticisms here and there) so I am very excited to see what you do with this in the future!

Even though I despise Battle Royale with a passion, there's no denying the fact that this is cool as fuck. I've always wondered what all the SM64 levels stitched together would look like... 🤔 Awesome work, dude!
Why did kaze left the net64 developer team?
2 main reasons:
1) sm64o was already C&D some time ago and back then i already wanted to quit the entire developement there. however, i had made a few promises about content that would still be added and i wanted to keep them. i believe its a bit too risky to keep developing this game much further
2) working in a team is very stressful for me and not really in my nature. i hate being held blamed for code i'm not editing and not being able to make all the decisions regarding the game myself. mainly the release of the 64bit only net64+ client, without releasing the original net64 client and the cryptominer, that had been added without notifying me, annoyed me to no end.
some people ended up thinking i was running some sort of scam to have the program mine cryptocoins for me, when in reality, i wasn't related to that at all.

Case is point of why you NEVER START UP A DEV TEAM ON A PROJECT THAT YOU WANT TO RUN YOURSELF. I've seen this happen several times: the main and original developer either is removed by the others, or leaves voluntarily, due to several reasons. It becomes almost corporate and nonsense, instead of being a team effort. They start to focus on the project too much rather than the people involved behind the scenes. Ultimately its not the project that matters (well, partially yeah it does matter), but rather the people who bring it to you, the ones who come up with the ideas, that deserve the praise and respect. It really sucks that you fell into this trap, but on the bright side, you probably wont do that again, and at least it wasn't on a giant romhack like Last Impact.
If you made this into a full-fledged SM64 battle royale, I would be ecstatic.

This is a crazy cool idea!
Have different hats scattered around. Metal cap gives you less damage, Yoshi cap flutter jumps, luigi higher jumps, etc.
With items showing up to attack, like fire flowers, ice flower, etc. Coins are great use, stars can help you lower coin usage while flying, more health, etc.
With different bosses scattered about and defeating them gives us items and coins. And the map shrinks with lava coming around or water.
Yes, a "Battle Royale" is a very good idea, but the maps must be approached for a best gameplay.
