I never really care about the looks of my farms and builds I just only care about efficiency. But every single time I watch wattles I get really excited about making my base really good looking. Thanks man.

This spider farm works exceptionally well (and the water trap is definitely a necessity), the only thing i'd suggest is to remove the top left and top right iron trapdoors because the spiders still cant get through but you can, which allows you easy access into the farm
I made a change to my build - I changed the slabs for more trap doors , the experience does not get caught anymore. and I put gates on the front wall just above the water level and above the opening to the killing chamber, that way spiders can't climb the wall. some will get through if they climb on top of another spider. More kills = more experience. I also found the drops where getting caught in the high water drown area.
Just wanted to say thanks for the tutorial. This worked great for me. I just started enchanting for the first time ever and this is making it waaay easier.

To make the spiders easier to kill, I put magma blocks on the ground in the little 3x3 chamber the water feeds into. Not sure how much damage it does to them but it seems to help a little bit.

as someone who hates any creature that falls under the category of insect, arachnid, or general arthropod, this brings me great pleasure. especially since I found four these (well, cave spiders) beneath my base and also happened to a silk touch spawner datapack on the world, meaning I can finally put my bane of arthropods sword to use!

Wattles dont you realize that when birb crossed the inter-dimensional gateway his soul left his body. Thats why he wasnt moving. You lost the opportunity to take him out.
wattles, a journeymen levelled fletcher (or expert) trades for string, you can double on your profits from these farms! I recommend you making a string villager hall with clerics to sell string and rotten flesh after a decent grind.

Hey Wattles! Put a shepherd and a fisherman villagers in the room where you kill the spiders. So.. you could make some of the string to wool sell them to shepherd and.... strings itself to the fisherman villager.
If spiders are still climbing the walls, I recommend using chests on the same level as the flowing water, since the smaller hitbox of the chest acts as a small indent that's not high enough to stop the spiders from getting pushed by the water Alternatively, you could just make a wall of water flowing inward, but that's a bit more complicated and unnecessary I've only used this for cave spiders, and it's a bit costly in terms of wood, but it works

I found some things that would upgrade the farm... First, put slabs on the roof of the little room the spiders go into, then you can replace the too iron trapdoors with normally blocks to save some iron. Then you won't have to look up and will only have to look side to side to kill the spiders
Normally, I don't leave mean comments, but this video made me so angry. I searched up "spider xp farm" and then this was the first video that came up. I figured that it would be a great tutorial, as it showed up first. However, during my time watching this horrendous video, I was confused, hurt, and betrayed by this video. At the beginning of the preparation portion of the video, you stated we would need a fence gate, iron trapdoor and hopper. However, I was shocked to see you using 6 iron trapdoors and 3 hoppers and a shocking lack of fence gates. This video also can't decide whether it wants to be a tutorial or let's play video, as the title suggests it's a hybrid, giving this video so much extra time that was simply not needed. Words cannot describe my anger towards this man. I am sure your videos are great, but this was a terrible first impression. I will not be watching any of your tutorials again, but you also have 1.63M subscribers so I'm sure that doesn't matter. I just needed to vent my anger, and hopefully, you can decide whether or not to be a let's play creator or tutorial creator.
The string dropped by the spiders that get stuck in the water trap in the ceiling doesn't drop to the bottom to come to the kill box and be collected. It hangs in the water in the ceiling until you climb up there and get it (which isn't the point of this farm) or it despawns at the 5 minute mark. But if you use a row of cactus (no fence gates), the string will fall to the floor and get swept in to the kill box.
Dude, this helped me a lot! I went from 5 levels to 21 in like half an hour, and I'm not sure if I built the farm right either! Also, I was going back to the surface at times, so it's like 25 minutes. Thanks a lot!

I used a cave spawner, if you use slabs and have full blocks at the bottom, they cant get through however I dont think the hopper works that way

I like using a fence line after the spawn room to push spiders against the trapdoors. No jumping necessary. Awesome content regardless.

If you swap the trapdoors for top slabs it should work for cave spooders but they might be harder to kill because the gap is smaller
