  • This video demonstrates making card backgrounds using both napkins and using newspaper. Although the techniques demonstrated in this video are focused on card making, the same techniques could also be used for scrapbooking, party decor, or home decor.
    Some of the mixed media techniques demonstrated are decoupage, stamping, die cutting, ink blending for an antiqued look, and adding a touch of nostalgia with sealing wax. Various mediums are utilized including Distress Inks, embossing paste, Mod Podge and Golden Regular Gel Matte. This video is suitable for both the beginning paper crafter (as a "how to") up to the advanced paper crafter (layout and card making inspiration).
    This video is not sponsored, I'm not trying to sell anything... it is just free paper crafting inspiration for you to have fun with. More details regarding supplies used and cutting measurements can be found at www.papergluefun.com .
    Thank you for watching... and Happy Paper Crafting!!

      Thank you for watching… I really like the humming bird napkins a lot, too.
      You are correct about Mod Podge… I need to watch what I say. We have a bad habit of letting the little ones in our family transform how we say things and assimilating those pronunciations into our daily speech. My son (who of course grew up in my crafting world) would always say modgepodge, s’getti, and angurger… instead of Mod Podge, spaghetti, and hamburger… and those three words (and probably more that I’m not thinking of right now) took on a life of their own… sometimes I still say them without thinking even though I know better. Now our grandchildren are doing the same thing to us.🤦🏻‍♀️😂🤣. Thank you again for watching.

I 've added you to my YT "clips! 😍 LOVE this & you have inspired me & I have a TON of cocktail napkins & guest sized napkins & think they are better suited for card fronts & I iron my napkins to paper- it fuses them together & it feels like it was made that way..(with a cricut iron) you should try that in another video- you will LOVE the results. @@PaperGlueFun Its @$40. @Joanns..I promise you will be very surprised The result is: the napkin fuses to the cardstock & feels like it was made that way. I use Royal Coat (instead of M.Podge) in Bible journaling, it has a satin finish- smooth as silk.Ive done a TON of decoupage I eve do napkins on shells. .I even used the cricut to IRON a napkin to a round 8in candle & my friend asked if I MADE the candle!! You use plastic wrap & THAT becomes the glue!! You will need a cutting board- silcone mat- cardstock, plastic wrap , parchment paper & iron. THAT is the sandwich.(board protects your table or counter top) With your cardstock on the mat, lay down the napkin, cover it in plastic wrap then the parchment. The cricut is a crafters iron- has 3 temps & EVEN heating, Iron over the napkin area - like 2mins..check .maybe another minute-let it cool..remove the parchment- The plastic melts & any leftover plastic is stuck to the mat- so you lift your card & trim the excess- & Boom- you have an awesome card & then you can do it to envelops- to MATCH! what?? Yes. Ive even done this on MAILING envelopes with Christmas napkins from Dollar store..They looked like those expensive mailers that come in holiday print. You will ask yourself- WHY did I wait so long to do this? check out Joan at DIY Decoupage th-cam.com/users/shortsRvbuIYS0ZFU?si=ntuw3jvLkl4bY3e2 & th-cam.com/video/QRpNvT7wv3Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=t0PmmSCjBaGIYcvX you can find me @DonnasCraftingWhimsey. I get wrinkles when I use glue sticks, so I understand how frustrating that is. Sometimes I like the wrinkles if I want the texture, but I tend to want to keep it smooth, too, most of the time. Let me know how it goes if you use the gel.

      I bet it does dry matte... I only have the gloss in my stash. I bought it waaaaay back before I knew what I was doing. 🤣 Then I started using the Golden (based on a comment left on this channel) and fell in love with it. Let me know if you do this project using the Mod Podge matte finish and how it works for you. I would be really interested in learning how it goes.

    When you said the ink wouldn't stay on the one card that you did with Mod Podge, the first idea that came into my mind was: What if we'd take enough MP into a bowl of some sort, add ink from a refill bottle and mix; would that work? I love your cards, TFS, Nicole

      Hmmm🤔 Now you have me thinking... I definitely will be playing with that idea. Thank you Nicole! I think I will add ink... also, I have some shimmery ink... I am going to try it with that, too! This is going to be a fun experiment. Thank you again for the idea and for watching/commenting on the video.

    Great video except for the extremely loud music. I had to keep my finger on the volume button because your voice sound was low so the volume was up then as the music started I had to quickly lower it.

      Thank you for the constructive feedback. Back then I was still learning to edit my videos, so I hope that I have gotten better over time… I agree with you… I used to really struggle with balancing the sound/music. I hope the paper crafting technique itself inspired you to create something beautiful. I’m always a work in progress.🤣

      Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate you watching. I completely agree with you about the music. I was still learning my video editing back then and hopefully have gotten better about volume controls now (although there is still so much to learn). I have a video coming out tomorrow (my regular 3pm ET Friday video). I’ve added some music in this one… if you get a chance (and have the time) I would love to know if you see any difference in the video quality between then and now as far as audio editing. If you don’t have time, I completely understand, but since you noticed the sound in that video your perspective on this one would be helpful. Thank you again.🤗

      @PaperGlueFun  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for watching Diane. Your are so right about Mod Podge… I need to watch what I say. We have a bad habit of letting the little ones in our family transform how we say things and assimilating those pronunciations into our daily speech. My son (who of course grew up in my crafting world) would always say modgepodge, s’getti, and han-gurger… instead of Mod Podge, spaghetti, and hamburger… and those three words (and probably more that I’m not thinking of right now) took on a life of their own… sometimes I still say them without thinking even though I know better. Now our grandchildren are doing the same thing to us! Thank you again for watching.

    Just wanted to mention for anyone who can afford the mod podge but not the Golden brand acrylic medium that you have gloss-finish mod podge and matte-finish gel medium which accounts for the difference you see in the finished texture (the difference in finish texture is not a difference in the product itself). You can also get matte-finish mod podge and gloss gel medium so if mod podge is what you can afford, you can still have a matte finish.
