Thanks for the instructional video. Can you please add a note to the video to make sure no one makes the same mistake I did when lifting up the speaker connection. I thought I was following the video exactly but when I was putting it all back together I realised I actually made the mistake of lifting off the whole connection. I now have to take it to be soldered back on. If you look at the 4:42 mark you'll see where I went wrong.
My wi-fi was greyed out so I bought a replacement wi-fi antenna and installed it but the wi-fi was still greyed out. Short of buying another antenna and installing it, is there a way to tell if the problem is something else? Could it be anything else?
Hello, i did a digitizer repair, but the wifi antenna cracked at the point where the 2 screws are, are the pieces under the screws a part of the antenna????, it is just a tiny piece of antenna under the screws, i still have wifi but I am unsure if it is unstable.
My ipad 2 has a problem with wifi. When i using my ipad near wifi access point (3 or 4 meter), signal wifi in bar so strong, i can access internet. but i stand far away (6,7 meter) signal wifi so weak, i can't access internet. Do you think problem is antenna or problem is chip wifi ipad?
Hello. I am soon going to be performing an iPad 2nd generation digitizer replacement. I am going to be extra careful not to ruin the wifi antenna. Do you have any tips of how not to do this?
Hi, thanks for the video, I changed out an antenna on my Ipad 2 but the signal was weak and I had to be close to my router, I updated IOS and it was still weak, do the wifi has firmware that need to be updated?
***** Everything is up to date and Bluetooth is working. Thank you,I will definitely subscribe to your profile for future references and when I need to order parts.
One question, will replacing this antenna will solve the following problem. Sometimes my ipad2 looses the wifi signal, and if do a reboot, the wifi is completely gone and the wifi toggle is grey. So in order to make it work again I have to do the freezer trick and also the hair dryer trick. I should mention that bluetooth always works even when the wifi toggle is grey. Thanks.
FunkyFreak My wifi is greyed out, so I doubt that would work. It's been a common problem on iPads and iphones for 10 yrs. That's one reason I'm an Android developer and not an iOS one
mrequi1 works for me and my ipad air 2 doesn't have any wifi problems so ipad these days don't have those common issues anymore.. Only my ipad 2 wifi cable snapped so wrapped aluminium foil around it connection is stronger than before and saved me money
FunkyFreak They certainly do have these issues still. As of last week people are still bringing it up on the forums. The problem is the way the chips are soldered on. That's why heat or cold will allow the wifi to connect temporarily. I'm done messing with that iPad anyway. It's not like you can do much with one from a development standppoint. I guess they're ok for technically challenged people with too much disposable income.
FunkyFreak I am curious though as to why if you went through the trouble of taking the screen off, etc to expose the wifi cable, which is a pretty delicate job why didn't you just replace the chip, antenna and cable? The whole assembly can be had for about $15 on Amazon or ebay.
I have an Ipad3... a small black wire that is attached under the black wifi pad that's now broken. However,I'm still getting a signal and the only thing not working is the home button. If I replace the WiFi will i do it the same way as the ipad 2 and will this solve the home button problem? (i replaced a broken screen) Thank you for any assistance.
on my ipad 2 the place below the home button is dented and it does not connect to any wifi only when kept beside the router it gets 4 bars qnd 5 cm away no bars
+Cristal Araiza. This would be related to the WiFi antenna and would be a good start. However if replacing the antenna does not resolve the issue, it would be a software issue. Possibly try restoring the operating system via iTunes to see if this helps.
on my ipad 2 the speaker cable was welded to the mother board so when i removed it like shown in the video it just broke off and now my speakers wont work because of it.... not to mention it's completely useless to remo the whole mother board. it only requires to remove the daughter board part

Also be mindful of the power button ribbon cable I ripped mine when replacing the digitizer

why i ask because i had my friends broken ipad3 i may pull out and use it if it work
wifi antenna price?
Nice video, clear instructions and good photos. Anyone know how to tell if your wifi issue is the chip or antenna?
mrequi1 just put aluminium foil around it and save money and time.. Makes signal stronger than the useless strip where it's connected to

I've replaced the antenna on my Ipad 2, but the Wifi signal is not coming on. How do i troubleshoot to know if the antenna works?

It's possible the wifi antenna was damaged.

Many thanks for your posts. Very well done. Peace!

+miha2342 We apologize to hear about this.
Your video shows very little.
A poor tutorial.
