Thanks so much. I broke my mother's iPad and as a 14-year old I thought fixing it was either hopeless, ore way out of my reach in expense. With this easy guide I bought a cheap 30$ OEM digitizer and replaced everything perfectly.
One trick that you all should learn is to get packing tape and tape the entire broken panel so you wont get glass shards all over. And it also makes the thing more easy to handle. Nice video.
great idea mine is totally shattered, have iphone 6 totally shattered too, just picked up ifix it kit for phone, now to find for ipad 2 and ipad 4...not going without otterbox or lifeproof cases again..
Many people say that my iPad 2 is not fixable, but deep inside me I know it can be repaired. The only intact thing that probably works is the motherboard. I'll try to swap the motherboard with another iPad 2 (same model A1395) and I hope that it will work because there are lots of photos, videos, games and memories from my childhood. (I destroyed it when I got super angry as a kid.) Also can I swap the motherboard from the white bezel iPad to the black bezel version? (They are both A1395.) I hope that it will work.
That was a good guide. I watched it once and successfully managed to replace my iPad 4 top glass and digitizer. Definitely not an easy repair and also very messy because as you pry the screen up it splinters into the tiniest of glass slivers that end up all over the place. At the end of the day however, I saved my self several hundred dollars by going DIY, but then I am an old PC technician.
Thanks for this video. I found a nice kit for the digitizer on Amazon for $18.00 that included the home button, adhesive and tools, very complete kit. The hardest part is getting panel off, it took me at least an hour but I was learning as I went. All-in-all this really helped me pull off a successful front panel replacement.
I enabled airplane mode on my ipad and tried to fly it across the room but it didn't work! now I have a broken screen AND I have to figure out why my airplane mode doesn't work. :(

This makes me feel a lot better seeing that its quite hollow underneath, had me worried for a short while there until I looked this up on my broken iPad now. Getting it fixed tomorrow hopefully, stuck some tape over an exposed gap for now.
The glass is only about $10-15 on amazon. Far less than the $50-150 he quotes in the video. Takes less than 10 minutes for someone who is comfortable building computers and handling electronics to do this. Thanks for the video, was A++
looks do able. I like the fact you pointed out testing before removing the adhesive on the new glass. I have many examples of repairing stuff only to take them apart to reinsert the flex assembly ..
I have had my iPad four 4 years and I took the cover off and after a couple of months while doing Chloe tings workout, I DROPPED IT! Now half the screen is covered in cracks 😭

I’ve had my IPad 2 for years and never cracked it but recently, for some reason I just became super clumsy and began to drop it so many times. The first time it was okay, the second time it literally fell on the screen and I knew it’d be cracked but surprisingly, it wasn’t and I was like “wow this thing is indestructible!”....literally 10 minutes later I drop it one last time and the screen completely shatters😑

Easy enough. Remember to check that the LCD touch works before putting on the glass. Mine didn't work, but since the glass was loose, i took it off, and attached the wires again. I applied just a bit of glue, and now it works great
Thx this was pretty helpful. Also I don't replace the glass untell it is unusualble. I don't do it when there is a small crack. Cuz there's no point on spending 100-400 dollars to get the screen fixed or replace the product via inserince thing. When there's just a very small crack. Basacoly I live with it untell it's unuseabale.

Worked well, took a fair bit of time but then my screen was in very bad shape. One thing to be aware of is that when you attach the new screen, make sure that the digitizer attachment is pushed in enough so that the broken white lines are flush with the fixing. If it isn't your screen won't work - like the guy says at the start this is a tricky fix, but I managed it using this video, one other thing to remember is to tape the screen your removing and do this somewhere where you can clean up afterwords as you will end up with tiny pieces of glass falling off as you remove it. Just be honest. You'll probably be surprised on what'll happen and how common it is. Apple use a glass screen that's super easy to break. I have an iPad mini and my £149 smartphone is a lot more stronger. They're more likely to be pissed if you keep it from them.

I want to bring it to this repair shop but I read this comment that the repair shop doesn't use proper screens since the screen was thinner and the screen broke again soon after by just touching it. There are also lots of positive reviews but I don't know whether I should trust them. If I just hand the iPad over to apple its going to take too long. I need an on the spot repair. There aren't that many options where I live. I seriously don't know what to do. Help!

Guys don't do this, it doesn't work, you should NEVER try and fix something like this yourself, it's safer to get it sent somewhere and fixed, either send it to Apple (if you have the money) or look up some legitimate companies that do it cheaper but not TOO expensive like apple And you can see here his screen isn't fine because if you look at the game centre logo from 5:05 onwards you can see it flickering implying the screen wasn't fixed properly. I know a lot of my friends who did stuff like this and it messed up their phones and iPads really badly. It's not worth the risk unless you really know what you are doing
lol your right, I tried replacing one today and picked it up from the edge and it cracked like a sheet of toffee. For those that are extremely careful can get away with a $30 one but pricier genuine digitizer does it's job in the long run...

The tools worked okay I used a pair of tweezers, head lamp, other metal pry tools, and more guitar picks. Make sure to wear eye protection. I have a question: my gals is NOT broken, but the "touch" sensitiveness start to fail: some zone does not "respond" to the touch , gently o strong the pressure I put on it. just did it. Took about an hour with a bad crack. Take your time and be patient is all I can say. Make sure the connections are in securely.

For these kinds of repairs it tends to help if you do it in the bathroom and run how water for a bit before hand to remove dust from the air.

I ordered this screen but it seems a little less quality than the original. I tell you what thou, this worked great and the screen looks new and works as new. The tools worked okay I used a pair of tweezers, head lamp, other metal pry tools, and more guitar picks. Make sure to wear eye protection.

thank you for this extremely clear Video. I have a question: my gals is NOT broken, but the "touch" sensitiveness start to fail: some zone does not "respond" to the touch , gently o strong the pressure I put on it. It starts to be nearly useless, since I can not interact with the IPAD. Do you think that this can be solved by replacing the the glass front panel ?

Its digitizer problem. Glass front panel have digitizer integrated, so yes replace that.
