    i have a rockshox monarch rt3 shock and i recently did a full service but when it came to the part to unscrew the shimstack nut the whole shaft unscrewed. i didn't think much of it and i proceded with the service and cleaned the compresion and rebound adjustment rods inside the eyelet(ps i couldn't take the nut off since i didn't have blocks neither someone who could lend me a pair) so i put the shock back together with the correct rockshox 7w oil (thats what is says to use in the rockshox service manual) and the ifp depth to the correct level. also the damper body was scratched on the inside like the one in the video, like exactly the same type of scrathes, but i could barrely feel them with my finger nail so i put the shock back together. and then dissaster: the rebound wasn't working as it was stuck in the slowest setting no matter how much i turned the rebound dial. also the lockout worked fine, to my surprise , it was only the rebound.
    now i'm thinking of dissasemble the shock again and try to clean the shimstack as i think there might be some crud built up in the holes that go in it. i am desperate for solutions since my local bike shop asks for the equivalent of 100 euro for a full service. and he is a picky guy and he will probably tell me to replace the damper body. and the seals are brand new also. has anyone had this problem? can it be fixed easily or is my shock bricked? worst case scenario i just buy a new shock but that won't be so easy to do since i don't have a lot of money and i rarely find shocks in my size(200x57). i'll keep you updated if i fix it.

      @@Sir-Kay i looked at it before doing the service but they don't take apart the shaft. they only go as far as the shimstack and then they put everything back together.
      i guess the shaft unscrewing instead of the shimstack nut is a common issue since i've seen the same thing happening in a video.

    good job. a curiosity, the air bubbles that come out before putting the ball, how can you be sure that there are no others left? does the roch shox procedure involve vacuum or this system? where can I find the attachment to let the piston come out with the air pump? Thank you

    • @remcodevries8821
      @remcodevries8821 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tip for the bubbles, after filling the fluid in the can, touch the bubbles with you're fingers. Than install the damper and you won't have bubbles at all.

    • @Sir-Kay
      @Sir-Kay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for stopping by. The attachment I used in pumping out the piston can be found on Aliexpress just search for it. I got mine here in Poland via their local site called Allegro dot pl so, check to see if they ship oversees. The air bubble thing requires patience, just wait till u no longer see any air coming out, it will never be 100% bubble-free but, hey! if I get 99% out,I'm good. As for vacuuming, I can't remember any vacuuming or any additional thing going on. Look, this is about as it gets with this tiny thing. This videos was an 100% tear down. So, follow the video one more time and it should solve any & every servicing issue with this particular model. Hope this answers your question & if not, feel free to let me know.

    Hello, I would be extremely grateful to you if you tell me, I have Rock shox Rl (Debon air), the first problem was the loss of the lock, the rebound worked, then I drove in the winter and my speed sharply decreased by 2 times in some pit, I lower it the air becomes even smaller, the idea is that this should not be, what could be the problem? The other day I want to make out, is this a problem in the damper or not? Maybe you know what could be the problem and how to solve it. Before that, I didn’t disassemble the shock absorbers, so I don’t understand their design

    • @Sir-Kay
      @Sir-Kay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm afraid I don't have that same damper and I might not be able to help but, I will tell you this, strip the whole thing down to pieces(that's of course if you can't afford to pay a mechanic to do it)clean and do a full service - replace all seals then, try to find the diagram of the damper in the service manual, that was exactly what I did. I'm sure you'll be able to do it if you follow the instructions there. Let me know if this helped.

    Hello tank you for your vid! I can't find the complete kit I got the 50 hour kit, so I am lacking the seals and o ring from the damper body so as the o ring inside the damper shaft. Do your think it is strictly necessary to replace those? Tank you

    • @Sir-Kay

      50hrs kit won't hurt it's better than nothing but, If I'm taking the damper all apart to the bone, I'd just rather get the right kit and do it all at once.

      I've serviced my damper since 2018 that I've owned this Bike and not a single problem, and you know what? this particular 200hr service was the best thing that has happened to this bike other than the dropper post. I used to do the 40hr service, it helped for a few rides then it was pogo stick again until I invested in the 200hr kit and since over a year now, all I do is dust off my stanchions after every ride and apply a tiny amount of stanchion spray to keep it grit free and my bike always rides like new. If I can do it, you can too.
