- Following the worldwide success of Lang Lang’s Goldberg Variations album, the world-renowned pianist now presents a series of seven new recordings as part of the Goldberg Variations Extended Edition.
The album features some of the works in which the pianist immersed himself during his intensive study of J.S. Bach’s Baroque masterpiece.
“The more time I spent with the Goldberg Variations, the more I wanted to know about Bach, his contemporaries and the composers he later inspired,” explains Lang Lang. “Each of the new pieces I’ve recorded for this project have added to my understanding of his music.”

The 1st time I heard this, it was as if everything had gone away in the world except this music, it was breathtaking. It is still the same, even though 35+ years have passed.
Just heard this first time yesterday and WOW! A tune of sheer beauty from JS Bach, hard to believe it’s around 300 years old. May I also recommend “Vivaldi-four seasons-winter-largo” to everyone here too, a beautiful version of it is on here with full orchestra though the name escapes me

Since this is Mr Lang's channel, I would remember to keep the comments respectful. Egon Petri, born in the 19th century, transcribed this Bach chorale for two hands. Fortunately, he recorded this for posterity. Those who heap praise on Mr and Mrs Lang's rendition should listen to this mono recording. The Langs' video is undeniably beautiful, but true art is about the art that conceals art. The simplicity of the Petri recording takes one closer to Bach and his inspiration, the Almighty.
