Sonos Era 100 had a more balance cleaner sound to me. Other two sounded limited in highs

From this recording I agree the sonus era 100 had better clarity than the home pod and had a better top end.

I've got a pair of era 100s and there amazing as a setro pair. The bass is very impressive for the size👌

im nowhere near the audio specialist as you are, Jason, but from what I can hear in the video, i think i disagree with your audio analysis of these. I thought the homepod to sound the worst, with a my v shape sound with boosted lows and highs to the point it almost sounded tin-y. The Sonos One seemed the most balanced to me and through my headphones I can hear all the instruments with ease. The Era 100 sounded similar but with just a tad more sparkle. I agree they all sounded good, but I would not choose the homepod out of this lineup for best sounding. idk price so that’s a different convo

Definitely the Apple HomePod V2 it’s overall sound quality was balanced the Sonos was good but just seemed to lose it at times.

This video is right up my alley. The Sonos Era 100 sounds the best IMHO. Thanks Jason!

Listening to the speakers in this vid (with Airpods Pro) the Era 100 won easily. The Homepod had a muffled sound.

I’m running dual original HomePods in my theater and they sound great. Once I get my acoustic boards setup I’ll really be able to see if it’s doable.

Wow! Was that an error in judgement? The Sonos sounded way better and you can build upon it by adding whatever you want, subs, soundbar, bigger speakers, smaller ones, etc. But it did get me to click on the video so I guess that's mission accomplished. But man, the Sonos won by a long shot, it wasn't even close.

I definitely prefer the Homepod 2. Both Sonos’ sounded like it’s firing sound directly in front of it while the Homepod 2 sounded like the music is floating around you (if that kind of made sense). I can imagine the Sonos’ sounding at its best when you’re positioned right in front of it while the Homepod 2 would probably sound as good no matter where you are located in a room.

My Sonos One SLs are part of a Beam and Gen 3 Sub home theater set-up. I've noticed each individual Sonos speaker gets noticeably better as you add more pieces like a stereo pairs, sub, and/or soundbar for movies and music.

While they have similar use-cases and the price point isn't far off, the Era 100 isn't fundamentally similar to the HomePod. The Homepod will win because of Dolby Atmos sound, more drivers, etc.
The Sonos Era 300 on the other hand is meant to compete with the HomePod, it's just at a higher price point because Sonos is pricey.

I have the Era 300 and it's a lot more speaker than the homepod. I might do a video comparing them, but I don't know if it's a fair comparison.

No speaker will ever sound as good as two will. Overall, the homepod 2 sounds better.

The sound from each speaker does not seem to back your conclusion. Both Sonos are brighter and peek w/o distorsion. HomePod seems more mixed and focus on low frequencies.

Hi Jason, Are you playing your own music for demo? You nail it! Nice music composition, performance and recording!

@@thejasontlewis Yes, I can hear your voice in demo. Nice!
BTW, all those speakers sounds bad to my ear. I only use a pair of HomePod as TV speaker. For serious music listening, I use studio monitors (Mackie) with Audio interface (Motu).

The Era 100 sounded more deep, more quality in the sound.
Made the others sound kinda cheap compared to it.
That last song Jason...Great use of your voice. Could hear the feelings even without listening to the lyrics, and that's what a great vocalist is to me no matter what genre.

    Sonus Era 100 for me

  • @moomin7461

None of them sounded that great to me, if I'm honest. The sound was a little too "processed". It could be TH-cam compression of course, but I wouldn't buy any of them, lol. My 90s Sony hi-fi sounded better. ☺️

    • @thejasontlewis
      @thejasontlewis  ปีที่แล้ว +4

You have to take into account that hearing them this way is not at all like hearing them in the room. They all sound pretty darn good in the room, but there's no way to accurately translate that through TH-cam. You just kind of have to compare them to each other based on what you hear, understanding that it's not a full representation.

The HomePod 2 has no sibilant.

book an appointment with an ear specialist. The HomePod is clearly inferior to the Era 100 if talking pure audio quality
