    I have to be careful watching your videos! 😄 After years keeping all sorts of reptiles I have fallen in love with the green tree monitor (can't believe I didn't sooner) and the leaf tail tort and the red eye crock skinks, largely in part to you and a couple other influencers. I'm waiting though. I have a full house. While I live in the Southern Louisiana, USA and weather permitting I can keep the majority in their outdoor enclosures at least half of the year, I still don't have room or the time needed for my own Sabsy though. During winter it's a full house! One day!!! Thank you for continuing to influence and educate. I think I started watching back in the Tikki gecko days! Fav feeder to keep. Roaches. Dubia and Hissing! Saves me a ton of money and I don't mind them at all.

    Oh my answer for today’s question of the day is EASY! It’ll be roaches for me, absolutely love pet roaches. Absolutely make amazing first time pets for literally anyone for how low maintenance they are compared to any other type of pet. Also very misunderstood critters. My favorite pet cockroach I had were madagascar hissing cockroaches but I plan to get more roaches as both feeders and pets.

    Cockroaches are my feeder pet of choice. Ive kept them longer than i have reptiles.
    I've got orange heads, halloween hissers, tiger hissers, domino roaches, and my only true feeders, the dubias. I really like the dubias though, more than i thought i would lol. Theyre a more recent addition since i had a leopard gecko rehomed to me(the leo being my first lizard big enough to take adolescent dubias), i figured why not get them breeding now. Im only going to get more herps from here lmao.

    Man I need your help! My tokay’s are laying a good clutch of eggs. However, they are lying them inside a small cork tube. I have tried multiple times to get them out of the tube and into the incubator, but it seems they are glued to the cork. How do I get the eggs of the cork without damaging the eggs? Also what do you recommend doing with the eggs? Love the vids❤️🙏🏻

    • @Reptiliatus
      @Reptiliatus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Happy to help! Trust me, don’t touch them! They are calcified eggs and will break! The best thing you can do is leave them alone. Tokays are fantastic parents and I promise you they won’t harm their babies, neither will their older siblings. All my tokay geckos hatched in the enclosure with their adults. On average they take about 3-4 months to hatch but sometimes as long as 6. Mama tokays know where’s a good spot to lay so trust in their process! If you really want to raise the offspring on their own you can collect the babies after they’ve hatched but be ready because they parents will defend them from you!

    Hissing roaches with their sharp "spikes ?" i am nervous they would injure my tarantulas so they became pets for some reason our guests never stay long? lol
    In south africa, I ordered 50 silkworms they cost me (7.63 Canadian dollar converted from our weak currency the rand). My female leopard gecko stopped eating for ages until i offered silkworms, was her first time having them. She had me worried was in contact with my nearest exotic vet. She now eats silkworms, she loves them.

    Me watching this video thinking silkworms would be a great thing to add to my diet.
    Doing a quick Google, apparently humans can & do eat them. Albeit not wide spread.
    I've eaten bugs before. They have zero flavor to them. Just texture. So it would be pretty easy to add them to a soup or stir fry for a nice nutrients boost.

    Your Gecko, Tiki.....his color? Rather dark and subdued.....what is up with that? And as usual, great vid content here!! keep it coming. When will you have another frog update?

      I'm by no means an expert, but my understanding is that geckos can "fire up" or "fire down" changing the depth and vibrancy of their colors

    Why do people need some many reps?. One should be enough , the more you have the lower the quality of care you give to each

      I appreciate your concern however the individual keeper is responsible in excuse using self discipline to make sure they don’t exceed their capacity/ability to properly provide the needs and more for each animal. I do this out of love and passion, turned into a full time job. I also have a hired employee who works for be 2-3 times a week cleaning and caring for my animals too. ☺️

      @@Reptiliatus the reason I replied as I did , was we all know there are a lot of sub standard keepers , and I can't help but cry , when I think of those beautiful animals either being put down , or released into an environment that their not used to. Especially since it's not their choice. After the recent storms in the US and here in the UK. I couldn't help but think of the pain , suffering and pain these guys suffered

      @@davewarrender2056 I totally get this and it’s so sad to see animals being hurt especially reptiles but even though they are lots of people out there who aren’t properly caring for these creatures there are even more who have a passion and love them I live in the uk so sadly I don’t have many native reptiles but even though there’s only six native reptiles almost all of our snakes are endangered so again it is sad and let’s hope there are more people out there who will help these creatures
