    I’m a KC native and just got back from living and working in Salt Lake City for 3 years. I’m so happy to be back. There is so much more to do here, better places to eat and the people here are community minded. KC has emerged to become a very special place to live.

    I am 64 and was born and raised in the KC metro area. I never wanted to live anywhere else!!! I've traveled to various countries and have seen pretty much most of the US and no matter how great those trips were, I could never wait to get back to my KC. It was a well kept secret for many years but I am thankful that old KC is finally getting the recognition she deserves! Great video.... I almost got a little teary eyed seeing all the places I've loved and still love today! The NFL Draft was excellent, now it's on to the World Cup....YAY!!!

    Great video! some of these things I had NO idea where coming to KC. The South Loop, Pennway Point, Rock Island Bridge and Current Stadium are most exciting to me; I live in LA now and think about all the potential KC has and these are great moves! My only wish is they'd let the street car idea end after this expansion and look into skyrails. Street Cars just add to traffic.
    But if the Royals end up downtown we'll have a real special city on our hands! I'll be wishing for Arrowhead to replace the downtown airport at that point. Which would also allow the city to build up.

    We live in North KC, and I gotta say, we love it!
    very excited about the Rock Island bridge over the Kaw, seems like a cool idea. hopefully it helps turn that area around, Kaw point is cool but kinda sketchy. it would also be nice to float/kayak down the Kaw to Rock Island and not have to leave KC for a float trip.
    im glad yall will get to enjoy the streetcar shortly, it really is a game changer. There's been talk of it coming to NKC, but idk if its gonna happen.
    i really hope that KC leans hard into the 15 min city concept. with the advent of E-bikes its very doable, i hope more people look into them and that the city develops more places for bikes and trail junctions.

    We had a fully functional street car system in the 1960s when I moved to Kansas city that went all the way acrossed south of the river Kansas city mo, what is needed is one to points in joco, cheifs and royals stadiums kci airport and areas north of the river. Becuse we have never had good parking downtown.
    Crown center was charging 50 bucks a car to park, thats routragious to anyone who lived on the north side of the city.
    Id like to see some horse drawn stuff on tracks. Not just the train we have now. Remember this is Cow Town. Ranchers drove cattel to the stock yards to auction off, many of the west bottom businesses were decated to that industry, now a lot of its shops set up with old items and art. There are still vacant buildings in the bottoms
    Its been dead for years most the businesses have left in some buildings you can see flood lines in second story rooms from the flood in the 1950s if you know what your looking for.
    Kansas city is starting to have a very large night life it only had in Westport or the city market areas but now its every part of downtown.
    Just north of the river by the downtown air port is an area thats Kansas city mo, not quite north town. It should be fixed up becuse its on the north banks of the river.

    It's a great city, it sounds like it's going to be even better. Unfortunately, due to the weather, I couldn't live there even if my home was free. I can bundle up and be careful on ice, but humid sticky summers are hell on earth. That's a darn shame because homes are incredibly affordable (compared to the lovely, temperate weather place I live) and it sounds like the city is adding a lot of wonderful amenities.

    Hopefully they can extend the rail transit all the way south to 435. The right of way is there and should be used for this purpose. My thoughts on the 15 minute city is that until cities openly embrace mixed-use properties the type of high-density urban populations won't happen. This wasn't an issue up until the 1950/60s. Then the suburbs started and municipal inspectors got lazy with single-use permits being much easier to administer.

      @@movingtokc My kids have been out of school for 20 years, but they went to Raytown C2 district. We moved out of Kansas City because of the schools. Kansas City has many things to offer but you should be more candid about the situation with schools and infrastructure. Also the property tax issue over the last few years is driving people out of Jackson Co. They have raised my property tax 75% over the last 4 years. If we got some benefit out of that I would not complain, but the sewer system is in desperate need of repair. Roads and bridges are a problem. Crime is as bad as I can remember in over 60 years and its now dangerous to go to the Plaza on a Friday or Saturday night. The city council is more concerned with the Power and Light district than the rest to the area. I'd say KC have more negatives than positives at this point.

    • @mattsmith7490
      @mattsmith7490 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@loganleroy8622 That is true. Their tax base is pretty high income so that makes sense, which I think is a problem in and of itself. I might be splitting hairs, but JOCO is not Kansas City. People that are not familiar with the area need to know that. Yes, it's right next door, but an important distinction should be made. In the 1980's Johnson County was a fraction of its current size. The Yellow Freight building was the only building over 3 stories on the Kansas side of the 435 corridor.
      Places like Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, and even Wyandotte county became attractive places to relocate outside of Kansas City, and or, Jackson County. People also moved out of Kansas City to Liberty and Lee's Summit on the Missouri side. What motivated people to move 20 miles from where they were living? What drove this migration was the absolutely awful school district and the city and county taxes. Kansas City is one of only six cities in the country that has a "City" income tax in addition to the state and federal income taxes. We also have a very ineffective form of city government with a mayoral office that was designed by law to be weak. For the 50 plus years I have been paying attention, nothing has changed.
      I believe the funding of public schools needs to be completely overhauled. I would like to see schools FUNDED at a state level, rather than local taxes. Keep the school boards and let them run things just as they do now but change the way they are funded. Combine all the school taxes across the whole state into one big pot and divide it equally based on the number of students in the different districts. That would ensure poorer neighborhoods and richer ones would be funded identically. If your district has 5% of the students in the state, then you get 5% of the money. Kansas City has a lot to offer and is great for many reasons, but I also believe in fully disclosing its issues as well.

    Kc needs stronger republican leadership. More law enforcement and less woke leftist politicians. Crime is bad in the city under dem leadership.

    • @benkeith2077
      @benkeith2077 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know if it needs stronger Republican leadership, I am not aware of really any Republican leadership here. Lol. I’m not going to recommend one party over the other but real leadership from one from party or another would be welcome. I do like it here a lot, but anyone that knows the way the city is run, knows that the city government here is deeply corrupted.

      @@XTRABIG what a foolish thing to say, you have NO IDEA how much I travel. I am currently responding to this from my hotel in Osaka, Japan. You and everyone else who are literally asking for this captivity are clueless as to why it is being promoted as such a HUGE convenience. It is to reduce end eventually ELIMINATE travel. Enjoy your “convenient” prison you fools. I personally like the freedom of travel.

    What a joke there is no place to park Downtown and if you happen to find a tiny lot somewhere you have to walk for blocks. And take the risk of being attacked.

    Kcmo is mostly detached single family homes and suburban sprawl with low density; more so than Overland Park and Lenexa. And over 50% of the metro areas office space is in Johnson county Kansas. Johnson county Kansas is the most densely populated and wealthiest county with over 613,000 people. Johnson county’s median household income is 96,059$ and kcmos is a saddening 60,042$. Theres more people living within 5 miles of downtown Overland Park than within 5 miles of downtown kcmo. Johnson county Kansas GDP is higher than Jackson County Missouri. There has been decades of white flight and urban decay from Kansas City Missouri. kcmo has a terrible crime problem.
