Over on Instagram, I’ve been asked a few times to share what I'm packing for Paris.
I’ve been asking what to pack for Paris in the fall, and so I’m ten tried and true, sharing ten ideas with you. Packing for Paris is so easy because a classic style goes a long way. It’s about comfort, temperature, and style. What I’m packing for Paris is more simple than you might think, and I hope this video becomes a resource for you if you are wondering what to pack for Paris in the fall or what to wear in Paris in the fall.

I always bring an empty bag when going overseas!!! I’m glad you brought up about the purse cos pickpocketing in Paris is really bad! And the more you stand out the more you are a target. We watched tourists get attacked not violently just harassing them! Thankfully I blend in so only once did someone approach me and he got an ear full lol and backed off, that’s the Brooklyn girl in me 😂 And i also packed three colors, red, black and white to make packing easier and you can switch outfits easily.

I/ve been to Paris every year for 20 yrs (except 2020). Glad you're leaving the backpack at home. A flight attendant friend once told me that she can get in any restaurant in the world with a pair of nice black slacks, a nice white shirt, and a pearl necklace. Then one can add a jacket, scarf, and purse and voila!!!
Enjoy your trip to France! I used to go to Paris twice a year, once in the late spring and again in September, for my job. I also often was asked to give a demonstration on how to pack with only a carry on for one week -- ? I would choose my basic color (black, brown or navy) and pack a pair of tailored slacks, and a sleeveless scooped neck dress of that color, plus a pair of comfortable flats. Then my pjs and a change of underwear. Next one each of a sleeveless top (tank top), a short sleeve dressy T, and two 3 quarter sleeve Ts (white for black or navy, cream for brown). Any of these tops could be worn under the dress to change it up. A light weight dressier sweater and that was it other than a bit of makeup. The hotels provide shampoo/soap. A fold up shopping bag plus a collapsible nylon suitcase (IKEA) would also go in. Then on the plane I would wear jeans in my color scheme, t-shirt, lightweight sweater and a short dressy tailored raincoat (mine is a deep brown and I wore it with whatever color scheme) footies and tennis shoes (slightly dressy tennis shoes). Once in Paris, I would pick up scarves, a pair or toe of shoes, underwear (the underwear shops have incredibly beautiful bra and panty sets that wear well), perhaps a blouse, some fun jewelry and these would be my souvenirs that I would truly enjoy for a long time. Any other items purchased would be brought home in my extra suitcase or packed in my carryon which would be checked this time. I have found that brocantes and thrift shops will provide bubble wrap and tissue paper and will often be happy to wrap it securely for the trip home. I keep the shoe boxes and have packed food items in glass jars in them, tucked in with my dirty laundry. I usually went for 2-3 weeks and I always packed for one week and washed items and rewore them. Paris ladies buy good items that fit well and are flattering and wear them over and over rather than have a huge closet of clothes. Most of my favorite clothes/shoes were bought in Paris and most I am still wearing many years later.

You have worked so hard these seasons and you deserve every bit of fun, glamour and relaxation you can find. I am touring my favourite Vintage shop tomorrow and will be thinking of the wonderful adventure you will be having! Enjoy it ALL!

A small tip; there are luggage scales that are much smaller than the bathroom scale you have. They are inexpensive and you will not have to leave it behind.
Along with the empty suitcase and bubble wrap I also pack a bunch of giant rubber bands. They hold the items in the bubble wrap well. Have fun in Paris!

Have a wonderful trip! Everything looks amazing on you. Smart to bring an extra case full of bubblewrap. There are small little luggage scales you hand your case from.
Good tips! FYI There are small luggage scales available that lighter than a scale...also, the "pleather" would be my last choice. Have a great trip.
I thought the "pleather" looked tacky.
I put my cross-body bag on first then put my jacket or coat on over it. The strap can't be cut or yanked, and I can slide the bag slightly to the side under the coat, so it is not as visible. Wishing you much sucess at the flea!

Another tip when you're travelling is to put your telephone number with country code on an A4 piece of paper and put it on the top inside your suitcase and on the outside an A4 piece with your flight numbers , name and Tele no in between the plastic wrap on your suitcase. I always plastic wrap to protect contents and case. Hope this helps

Beautiful! I love high necked sleeveless tops, but they do not flatter my very broad shoulders. Both lbd’s are perfect, and the second one just gave me the inspiration for what to make with a large piece of navy fabric I have, and a pattern that’s nearly identical. Have fun, make sure you have plenty of tissues for when you tear up after you arrive, I can’t wait to see all your photos!

The variety of clothing works well together. However I would love to see how you get all those clothes and shoes in your personal bag. The last time I went I took one pair of Merrells which I wore everywhere which were so comfortable and saved so much room by not having in my suitcase. I always carry a bunch of zip lock bags in different sizes. The idea of filling the main suitcase with bubble wrap is genius. Some of us also mailed our used clothing and travel guides back to the states giving more room for new items.

I live two hour drive from Paris, and I have to say- it's already pretty cold in the mornings and evenings- that you do need to have a light coat. In the day it's usually nice, not hot at all. Enjoy the city!

Can't you buy a cheap scale once there? I recently emptied a storage locker and got a cheap scale at Target near the location so I could weight the boxes of items I wanted to ship home to myself. But I guess since the scale doesn't weigh much if the rest of the bag is filled with bubble wrap, it might not matter and easier to find the scale here in the US.
