Simple life Manhattan: a 90-square-foot microstudio

- By choosing a studio that measures just 12 feet by 7 feet, Felice Cohen can afford to live in Manhattan's Upper West Side where apartments rent for an average of $3,600 per month.
She pays just over $700 for her 90-square-foot micro-studio. After a bit of adjustment, she now loves living smaller, simpler, and cozier.

Well said 😂
I cannot imagine being quarantined in this apartment.
Me neither, I was thinking that this is why NYers wont stay inside.

Exactly I'm going insane just looking at this
I'm surprised she had her own bathroom! Usually places like this you have to share.
Agreed, using a communal bathroom & kitchen is a BIG no for me!!

I THOUGHT THAT WAS ONLY FOR DORM SITUATION SMH
@@ratso69ful81 I could maybe handle a communal kitchen, but NOT a communal bathroom.
I was surprised she had a bathroom. A lot of NYC apts this size have shared facilities in the hall. So actually, this isn’t that bad, and she has the right attitude to make it work for her. The city is her “living room”.
The city is her “living room” lmao
Crazy that her bathroom is almost the same size as the rest of the apartment!
You can tell she is trying so hard to convince herself that this is a great idea
so right. and she didn't convince me she likes it. so sad and sloppy.
Yes. She was talking herself into it the whole time
It's human nature to rationalise their suffering
Or maybe she's just explaining how she rationalizes it because she understands that others would have issue with it.
Hahaha so true.

You live in an Irish farmhouse? How could you not appreciate that you ungrateful hag? Those things are amazing.

You can never really predict which random videos will have an awesome comment section. This is one of the best ones I've seen in a while
Wow landlords did a really good job of convincing hipsters that living in a closet is cool
And New York politicians did a great job trashing the real estate market in New York so that demand runs way ahead of supply, driving the cost of apartments to these skyhigh rates, thus encouraging the creation of such apartments in the private sector.
And useful idiots who wouldn't know a bad idea even if it punched them in the face with a stamp that says, "Bad Idea" elects these politicians and encourages them to make these bad policies.
Landlords did that or the economy?
Ha!
I think this is more about the price. Most people don’t even live in New York for a long time, they just there to have fun for a while
Hipsters = young people that want to live in the city ? If there were other options, people wouldn't choose to live in a closet... Trust me.

I seriously don’t understand how living in the city could be that important to live in a house where you cannot cook
So many people are obsessed with the idea, your surrounded by a hole strangers in big cities
it's not the living in the city it's just people and city opportunities and New York is perfect for that
Or sit bolt upright in bed.
if i lived in new york i dont think i would cook
Some people work a lot and being a few minutes from work is more than worth it. People like to say taking a train to Manhattan from Queens or Brooklyn is 20 mins. It is not... I live 7 miles from lower Manhattan in Brooklyn and sometimes it takes me over 1.5 hours to get to work via train. By car it's no better either if there's traffic and you get stuck for an hour. If it takes me 1-1.5 hours to go each way for work that's almost 3 hours out of the day spent on commuting.
It was this video, and a few others on this channel that kickstarted my obsession with Tiny homes, and dwellings all those years ago. Despite my issues with this space, she makes it into a very cozy, humble abode. On a side note, the lives of artist, writers, and creatives in general, will always fascinate me.
“But, uh, it’s worth it”
*awkwardly smiles at the camera.
No, it’s definitely not worth it.
Many people are camera shy. It's like how polygraphs are inaccurate because there are people who tell the truth and still show signs of lying. There are people who, once they have a camera on them, forget their own name.
@Rocky Croods She has had a few books published and seems to have a decent career. She's not a financial mogul living in a sprawling mansion these days.

So not long after this video went viral, this woman's landlord ended up seeing it and found out that she wasn't on the lease and promptly evicted her. After she left the landlord then doubled the rent on this place to $1200. Insane.
Is that true or are you just making things up?
@Duck Beanie They raised the rent to $1400, and it's probably more than that now. This video is 11 years old
To sublet without landlord's approval is not acceptable, if that was the case. She did a fantastic job utilizing the limited space. Good luck to her in her new place.

That bathroom looks amazing. You actually have your own private bathroom and bathtub. That is a major bonus in a small space like that. I'm envious. Kudos! The way you organized the space really works.
I thought my 200 sq ft apartment was small but after living here a year I’m actually more used to it than I thought I would be. It doesn’t even need to be 10x the size to be waaaay more comfortable. I’m a student (in Finland) and me and many of my friends live alone comfortably in studio apartments that are 2-3x the size of that. But even the single person ”dorm rooms” I’ve lived in weren’t that crammed and were of larger surface area in temselves, and then I had separate regular size community bathrooms and kitchens etc. 😂
New York is worth it
Muhilan Selvaa No, it isn’t.
My little city of 10,000 has restaurants, parks, and gyms. We also have big houses, big apartments, a lake, a river and clean, fresh air. Syracuse, a big city with sports, theatres and malls is only 20 minutes away. And it's still in NY State... you couldn't pay me to live in NYC!
Cool apt. And saving the money for what really matters. By-the-way many countries have apartments like this. Your back yard is big. Only problem is during covid you had to stay home.
You do you girl, keep going and living life how you want to. I’ve often thought it would be a cool experience to live in NYC but budget is always a problem and also what to do for work. Best of luck 🤞 live your best life !!
