I purchased two and love them Both in black. I did get TI on the second run. Happy with ensso anyway. Only one I never was unhappy with and I own several. Thank you DB!
A very neat, sharp looking stealth pocket pen. For a fleeting moment I almost thought it was my superb little Stipula Passaporto pocket pen. The resemblance jumped at me for a second or two. Not least because of the same all-stealth black finish. I like several things about this Ensso Piuma. The color & finish, the large nib, the excellent, easy screw to post, the long section, the width of the barrel. Give me a broad (wet) nib, and this pen will be mine, in a heartbeat. Thanks, bud, for showing this. Not surprised you’re excited to have this pen in hand. So would I.
The Moonman Wancai has been an outstanding pocket pen for me for over a year now. I eyedroppered mine and it hasn't spilled a drop in my pocket in all this time.
Its my little buddy that I take with me everywhere. Kinda like "My Buddy" from the 80's, just the equivalent for adults with fountain pens LOL th-cam.com/video/nmwF-zy2Ypo/w-d-xo.html
I really enjoyed that, I'm a great fan of short stubby pens because I have short stubby hands. I actually use the Kaweco sport unposted quite comfortably. Also, LOVED Hearing your 5 year old daughter has one and likes to write and do drawings before bed with her fountain pen. At this point in time, you are teaching her a dying art! ✒💙
Fabulous pen fabulous video. Looks a really practical solid pen. A pen for jotting scribbling doodling like this would get a lot of use from almost any penthusiast. Brilliant almost flawless design reminds me of the Faber Castell E Motion. D
Like you, I've leaned heavily towards large pens (size large glove) for years but got interested in pocket pens over the past few years and came across this (mine in titanium) and absolutely LOVE it. My two favorite pocket pens are this and the Schon DSGN Six. I find the threads (for posting) on the titanium version a little more demanding; gotta be sure I'm even
Yeah cutting the type of thread they use on titanium is a bit tricky. But the raw Ti is great as its extremely durable and will hold up to whatever is in your pocket.
@@DoodlebudI like to challenge my preferences. For several months I favoured my smallest and skinniest pens and explored what the most comfortable grip on them would be. Today I brought out my giant Wing Sung 690. To my surprise it (I) wrote better than ever!
So cute. So lost after a week. I wouldn't be able to hang onto this little thing. And...I just wouldn't pull it out of my pocket in front of some people because, uh, what it looks like...Pretty popular though. They're sold out of brass and titanium.
Trying my best. Bedtime is my favorite part of everyday. Get to hear from them, what they think about, teach them new stuff, read some books, draw an octopus or something and color it in... best hour I can spend each day.
Indeed! He’s become quite the penfluencer. He’s already influenced me into some purchases 😂. I love his videos and his engineering approach. Can’t help it- my inner nerd is drawn to it 🤓
It looks like the perfect pen, some note taking during calls that you can also fidget with! But I would not pay attention to the caller, and tinker with the pen instead
Random vocabulary factoid: the horizontal bar diacritical mark (like the one over the e in ēnsso) is called a macron. Although usually a macron indicates a long vowel sound in English. So here I think it’s more like the umlauts (or diereses) in Mötley Crüe, just invited to the party for its good looks.
Cute little pen ! I’d have liked it more with a clip.. BTW, I’m also on a Pocket pen purchase spree - bought my first ever Kaweco Sport, a Kaweco Sport Clone in Brass and a vintage Pilot Elite recently !
No clip with this one, definitely a pocket pen so it doesn't roll away on you. A clip is practical, but with this one and the design it just wouldn't look right .... just my thoughts.
I got the brass Piuma. It's really chonky but it's so much better feeling than the plastic kaweco that doesn't weigh anything. Had some problems with the nib being abit too tight so had to shimy it abit too get a proper flow.
Strange Bock doesn't have a process in place to check the nib gab on each unit. Can be automated or have a worker do it manually. Simple Go-NoGo gauge check on the gap at the tip. The ones that pass go through, and the ones that need adjustment go in a bin for someone to check and adjust every now and then.
Pretty little thing. Pocket pens are kind of magic - a giant deep cap turns a tiny pen into a regular pen when posted. For those with tighter budgets, similarly designed pens are available for much less; I'm thinking of the Moonman/Wancai Mini and the PenBBS 471, though surely there are more.
Thanks for the other pens to check out. I'm always a fan of metal parts turned on a lathe. Was my favorite conventional machine to run in the shop. Something about the visual, mechanical, and auditory feedback while making a part becomes very engaging. Getting the fitment of parts just right, cutting the thread the perfect clearance, and having two parts become concentric😊 drool.... A different form of creating art. Fun to do when making a few parts, but not so fun when you have to make 100 of the same part 🙄
@@Doodlebud Ignore my two mentions, they are both plastic. I do share your love of metal pens. I wish more people did, so there would be more choices. I guess that swirly plastic is just too hypnotizing...
I should buy one telling my wife I got her a special present for her. But then when she gets it & finds out its a fountain pen instead... Free pen for me!
Your surprised? Chuckles I'll go for being astonished. Handy pen. Good dimensions. It's actually 32g capped on their website for the aluminium version. The much larger Diplomat Aero with its thick chunky body is only 10 grams more. I wonder where it gets the weight from? Can you comment please? I do like it though. Thanks for this great review.
Keep in mind "only" 10g is a 31% increase in weight. 10g on its own isnt much, but on a relative basis it's significant. Section sizes are about the same, cap length is similar, pen diameter is similar, just the main body is shorter. Think the Piuma has a greater material wall thickness and also the diplomat has material removed along the length of the body to give that scalloped look which reduces overall mass.
@@Doodlebud That makes sense. Good observations. Thanks. If I were to go for a pocket pen this would be it. Esp. given that nib. But, I'm more prone to tossing a Lamy Al Star into my bag when the going gets rough. (I always carry some sort of shoulder bag, even if it is a small one.) It's so good to see this level of design and quality of manufacture, even if it's an old idea. Again thank you for this review.
I love the way it shuts. I’d be playing with it all the time 😂. But, I tell you what, my favorite pocket pen ever, is my absolutely stunning Pilot μ or mu or murex 90. The one I have in medium is an absolutely amazing writer. You must of course post it, but I think despite your preference for larger pens you would enjoy it. Sadly, Pilot has stopped making them. The Elite E95s is nice, but nowhere near as beautiful and, it doesn’t have the fully integrated nib of the M90.
@@Doodlebud So I take it that the material of the titanium pen is not thinner than that of the aluminum to take advantage of the additional strength. Good information that you provide here, or I would have chose the titanium over the aluminum expecting it to be lighter. At least the titanium pen should have twice the crush depth of the aluminum one. 😁
I like it! So Doodlebud… Are you sure it doesn’t take batteries?… You like a little girth do you?… Is that really a pen in your pocket?… Keep writing on!
I'm super bummed that this wasn't an option when I got their XS minimalist pocket pen! I still love that TEENY thing but it's quite thin in comparison.
I have that one to review as well. But yeah, the Piuma pocket pen is a really good little pen. In my pocket everyday since I got it. And a bonus feature of people wondering what the hell yoy just pulled out of your pocket or purse 🤔

@@Doodlebud So is Kaweco, and yet clip is an option. Although I am not sure a clip on clip like that would work here, as the cap is too rounded, so it would slip off without some groves being machined in. Perhaps in a future model.
This and Schon Design are cool, but overpriced for what they are. I'll stick to Kaweco metal pocket pens for now. At least until Moonman/Majohn pulls out the "we copied you" reverse card again...

To be expected at that price point, at least it serves a purpose on a pen (looking cool and being visible) unlike gold plated TOSLINK cables which serve absolutely zero purpose* * exception being mini TOSLINK which is often doubled up as a 3.5 mm headphone jack, gold contacts actually can make sense in that specific situation. Love this - I have the Kaweco Al Sport, but would entertain this Ennso. My biggest problem is the slipperiness of metal section pens.
The anodized finish helps with that. The raw titanium has a machined finish which makes it grippy

This is a very similar concept to the Schon DSGN Pocket 6 which is highly customizable and is available in a variety of Jowo nibs.
