We hated our high price trainer for a number of reasons that rollers appear to counter. Great roller introduction, tips, and for showing me its possibilities.

Not sure if you are still riding your alloy rollers, but if you are, consider adding a bar behind the rear roller with neodymium magnets attached. The force field created between the rare earth magnets and the non-ferous alloy rollers creates resistance (and some heat). You can make the bar adjustable to the distance separated from the middle roller to adjust resistance. These neodymium magnets are generally available in 1 in. diameter disks and are very affordable. My Kreitler rollers had 10 of them attached to a piece of angle iron next to the rear roller. You'll be amazed at how much resistance you can apply with this method.

Cheers man, I've been getting into fixed gear riding as of late, rollers are recommended for learning pedal efficiency. This video is very helpful, much love from Wellington, New Zealand.

Extremely helpful. I am a novice rider (off road mountain biking). Curious if my Jamis hard line bike is suitable for a roller. Other than that, this was one of the best resources I have found yet. Thank you.

My son just started on rollers and his rear wheel is bouncing all over the place when he picks up the RPMs. I'm assuming this is because of a choppy pedal stroke. Are there any suggestions on what to say or videos to watch to help him learn to pedal more circular?

Learning how to pedal in a circular pattern is an art. I don’t know how to explain it other than constantly try to make your paddling smooth. As the RPMs increase, you will tend to bounce and that’s how you learn, the negative feedback loop as time goes on, you get better at learning how to spin fast and then that translates to the road.
