    *bike rollers are safe as long as you dedicate yourself to learn how to ride them. Just like you would have to learn to ride a bike outside, be careful and use your own judgment to make sure you are safe and won't hurt yourself.

    Since having only spent one hour on my rollers, which I received two days ago), I really need to learn to relax my grip! I’ve been road cycling for 10 years but the rollers put a different type of fear in to me, despite potentially only falling a few inches! I did notice intuitively that you can control the bike with your hips, especially when moving yourself from the wall while pedaling. Even though it’s gonna be a learning process, I can already feel that it’s more beneficial than the turbo - it requires much more concentration, helps maintain cadence and finally, bike handling skills.

    Thx Andreas. Haven't ridden rollers 4 30yrs. And they were 4.5 inches diameter. Easy 2 ride. Have been waiting on Elite Nero2 Rollers 4 7months from Italy. They r still on the work Bench due 2 Covid19. 😭😢 Have been waiting on a cheaper set 4 3.5moths. Arrived early last week. Played with setup on Tuesday & Saturday. Saturday was better but still not happy. Played with setup on Sunday morning. Haven't ridden on them as yet. Been suffering from debilitating Headaches and Migraines from car accident 41months ago due 2 Whiplash & concussion. 24hr a day headaches and migraines. So not ideal 2 ride rollers. However Andreas my final set up is within 0-5mm of what U have shared on youtube. Haven't tried them as head pain 2 much 2day. Thanks for sharing.. Has really helped. Gr8 2 find nice folk within the cycling community sharing there knowledge. Merci

    I can't thank you enough, Andreas, for producing this video. That one piece of advice to place your shoulder against a wall while basically riding as normal was an essential starting point for me! Because of your wise explanations, I can look forward to many happy hours training on my new rollers.

    Learn how to ride on rollers in less than one hour, this happened at Marina Del Rey bikes in Los Angeles around 1970. I was hooked! Nothing like them. Keep at it oh, because they are worth learning how to ride. To me one of the major Keys, is relaxing your hands and arms so that you and the bike and the rollers become one. I know it sounds corny, but it's really true.

    I just started riding rollers regularly for a month now. I enjoy the workout and skill needed to do them successfully. Although I still get distracted at the beginning or end of the ride which can lead me to a fall. The more I use them the better I get and my skill will be carried out on the real road. Videos like yours help me to tune in my rollers and bicycle set up. today after watching your video i brought back my front roller so that it was closer to my hub but not directly under the hub. maybe that will help my front wheel from traveling side to side. Spinning at 80-90 rpms keeps the front wheel from moving left to right. I enjoyed your different angles of video and noticed you also used two different trainers. maybe i will get the e- motion brand to upgrade from my standard rollers. everyone that masters the rollers say they get more fit and balanced on them compared to a stationary trainer. hope you make more videos. Thanks.

      Rider Hi! Thank you for your comment!
      Great to hear that I could provide some helpful information to you.
      You are right, if the front roller is too far you will constantly need to steer left and right to stay straight. You seem to have the whole thing pretty dialed already.
      Keep up practicing!!

    Well done. Keep in mind Kreitler rollers (the best in the business) are available in various sized drums, up to 4.5" (roughly 11.5cm) in diameter. The larger the roller, the lower the rolling resistance. However, the largest drum makes getting on and off the bike that much more difficult. I find mounting and dismounting the rollers the most aggravating. I do not ride them during the season, so after a long break it's like I have to learn all over again once the weather turns. The video was excellent. Now, can you please make a video showing how to mount and dismount with no wall available?

      Hi Richard, thank you 🙏🏼
      Shifting is a skill to master eventually. Most beginners struggle with that aspect of riding the rollers. I have a short video explaining how to shift on the rollers (you can find it easily on my profile)
      I tend to start on a harder gear, that way it is easier to get momentum and balance. I hope it helps!

    Do you use the inside ride rollers for Zwift?

    • @AndreasIhm
      @AndreasIhm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally yes. They are more adapted to virtual riding and for specific trainings (like sufferfest, traineroad and similar training platforms)
      Because the offer the possibility to sprint and also because they offer different resistance settings (I have the base model).
      It would still be possible to use the kreitler rollers with zwift. I’d probably do shorter rides, like 30min.

    Re: setup, most roller manufacturers recommend that the front roller is slightly in front of the front hub, not directly below it.
    When first learning how to ride rollers, better to set up in a doorway, with the sides of the doorway even with your shoulders. If you feel that you are not stable, keep your hands on the bars and use your shoulders to balance or 'bump' you back into riding position.

    • @AndreasIhm
      @AndreasIhm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your input.
      I totally disagree with the doorway technique and I have seen and heard about many negative experiences of beginners following that method. I hope my technique inspired many to persevere and learn how to ride the rollers.
      (Maybe you should check my other videos... I think I know a thing or two about riding rollers)

      @@AndreasIhm Doorway technique is recommended by many roller manufacturers. What negative experiences have you heard of? Have you heard of negative experiences with riders trying to ride rollers against one wall - because there are plenty of youtube videos of folks falling using that technique? I don't necessarily think your technique is bad or won't work for some riders, but doorway is generally better - shorter learning curve and safer, especially because you can keep your hands on the bars.

      @@AndreasIhm Here is Kreitler's set-up video (you use their rollers in your video). They say "what you're looking for is having your front drum just forward of your front axle" , not "the front roller should be under your front wheel hub, dead center if possible" as you say
