Scott: *Uses Thunderbolt on Magneton instead of fire punch* "I really should have equipped the przcureberry"
Kinda crazy to me that abilities weren't formally introduced until gen 3 but Venomoth already had a variant of Color Change in Gen 1 and 2
Color change? Nooo it had gen 6 Protean, your remembering it wrong (ok I lied it does have color change as an ability but pretty much everyone who uses it, uses protean venomoth)
@@ultimapower6950Does it really have Protean? That's honestly hilarious
What a treat, Elekid is the baby I was most psyched for! I have a feeling he's not just going to be the best baby, but maybe even an A-tier pokemon.
I still have my elekid pillow from when I was a kid. I loved the design of the baby poke
Elekid, Magby, and Smoochum are babies but they're definitely closer to the first stage of a 2 stage line. The remaining babies are definitely closer to the imagery that we think of when we say baby Pokemon.
I understand what they wanted to do by adding Sunny Day to Jasmine's Steelix to reduce water effectiveness but you're more likely to have a fire type for her gym.
They must really have wanted to double down considering the Thunderbolt Magnemite.
They repeat this in gen 4 with the elite four. At least in that team there were fire types to take advantage of sun
@@MrRandall171oh yeah flints dp team since he only had access to rapidash and infernape so they gave him lopunny, drifblim and steelix
@@bulbaa2241 it works thematically kinda unlike volkrine’s
With how well the elemental babies are doing, it makes me think that Magmar, Jynx, and Electabuzz are going to absolutely crush Crystal
Here i am, like an asshole, thinkin that baby pokemon would learn moves much earlier, justifying their existence. Electabuzz /starts/ with thunderpunch, learns it at the same level as well, and gets thunderbolt only six levels later!
With the overkill problem of GSC, I don't really know, but they sure aren't going to struggle haha
This makes me really want to see what electabuzz/back ported electivire are capable of in this game. Getting thunderpunch at level 9 and ice/fire punch before whitney is absurd.
Electabuzz is a God in game with the punches + Tbolt and Psychic. Electivire more than likely will fall off since it loses electabuzz's SPD for Atk
Edit: Electivire actually has the same SpAtk as Electabuzz so it'll probably be better than I'm expecting it to do
Gen2 with the lack of a ground type specialist really lets electric types shine as opposed to gen1.
Happy to see elekid do good, it’s my favorite baby pokemon overall
In RB none of the Gym Leader TM moves are learned via level up. Pikachu in Yellow and its Thunderbolt is the only exception. I'm sure if Blaine was an earlier Gym Leader (3-6 range) Flamethrower would have been the TM move instead and the Fire type would be significantly worse and probably learn Fire Blast about as often as the Electric types learn Thunder.
After you've done all the babies, you should reward the winner by giving their final evolution a try. Which will certainly be Electabuzz. With how surprisingly well the babies are doing, it'd be interesting how good Electabuzz will be.
Cleffa supporters rise up
I like how you talk about the boost you get for ice moves (and not fire)and how you have the NeverMeltIce equipped and then show yourself using Fire Punch instead of Ice Punch on Meganium
I like that in gen two they put trades and tms available to help defeat the gym leaders
Considering how Magby did, and it only got Thunderpunch for most of the game...
Elekid, with it's Punch Trifecta is going to absolutely *crush* the vast majority of the game, plus it's decently mixed stats means Return is going to be good on it late game as well.
Edit 1: Just remembered Psychic (at Pryce in the video), while a good move, considering Elekid's Coverage, Psychic won't really see much use, maybe for Janine but other than that, the rest of it's coverage should be more than enough for literally everything else.
Edit 2: Aight, yeah, Run 2 of Elekid absolutely dominated the game, good job Elekid, now imagine what you have to look forward to in Gen 4.
Ground/Ground Venomoth
ATV indeed
All hail Lord Helix and his dragon slayer ATV
Thanks for dropping these videos so frequently Scott, something to look forward to every day for me
I dont't usually comment, but I'm watching your channel for more than a year now and wanted to leave my thanks for the great videos here. I discovered your channel from recommendations, when you had only a handful of videos out, but the progress you made with the channel is so cool. You are among my dearest TH-cam channels.
my partner and i love watching your videos before bed! they are so fun but also very reaxing. keep up the good work!
17:26 This battle was even closer than it looks. Jynx gets a burn here, and that's what saves you. It cut the power of Doubleslap in half, leaving Elekid with just enough health to tank Exeggutor's Psychic.
I try not to back seat game to hard but at 16:39 I believe Ice Punch was the play with the never melt ice. That said I doubt it would of changed anything (I didn't run calcs.) Either way great video and thank you for all the content you post.
You can get their relative strengths readily by taking the ratios of the two defense stats with the two attacking stats
The sheer amount of content you're putting out right now is amazing and so fun for my days off. I hope you're getting to take some time for yourself too and not get burnt out!
Just wanted to say thank you for releasing so many videos and for your plan to release even more in december. I am currently not doing so good and your videos are so comforting to watch.
Dude I am so happy that you have grown so much watched clear back when you did magmar versus electabuzz
Never thought I’d want a Electabuzz vs Magmar vs Jinx Crystal video. But here I am
Mantine is so cute in your chart at the end! Just blissfully flying with its whittle friend Remoraid. (Or maybe it’s swimming… idk lol)
This trio did so well! It's a shame Tyrogue didn't have access to any good punching moves, but pure fighting types always have challenges..
You know who else gets Mud-Slap when Gligar can't? Mantine. The water/flying manta ray can when the ground type can't 😂
I'm beginning to think there is a conspiracy against Gligar..
Love these back to back videos man you are killing the Pokémon solo run genre!
Easily my favorite Pokémon challenge channel on TH-cam! The level of effort you put it into the runs themselves on top of all the video editing and programming is truly awesome. As a data analyst and programmer (and gamer when life allows 😂) this channel just speaks to me! Keep up the great content!
Hope you like the graphs :D
@@Harry-mf6rqI’m a math guy. I think I’d rather read and interpret a graph than I would read a book. 🤣
@@PojoLoneWolf me too. That's why I made the graphs 🤣
@@Harry-mf6rq Now let’s confuse nearly everyone by incorporating some calculus into those graphs! (No. Don’t. Please no! 😜)
Elekid seems like it's running for the finish line in lighting speed .
I didn't know that could learn all of the elemental punches, that means that it's a powerhouse for sure . One thing is for sure though, Electabuzz is going to be a high A tier pokemon for sure.🤔 I wonder if you'll ever do a back port versus video with Electivire and Magmortar in gen 2 to see who is going to be the better out of these two.😊
I wish you goodluck with Cleffa and Igglybuff ,and most importantly with Pichu.😊
"However, I survive on Red."
Scott, that battle's only halfway done!
I absolute ADORE Elekid's design and I thought their sounds in the anime were so damn cute. Glad to see this little guy did so so well.
A baby pokemon being the same level as Red's team and sweeping on a first try is wild.
I remember loving Elekid the most because of a toy I had of it. It's one of the stronger babies out of the ones that came because of not just stats but because of the move pool and typing. It only has 1 weakness. Elekid's going to knock this one out of the park, though I wonder how Electebuzz will perform by comparison.
youre finally a big enough youtuber to get those fake account scams pretending to be you!
Yeah, they replied to me last video
Honestly, having access to multiple elemental punches really helps out Pokemon in gen 2. Most that can learn 2 gets decent coverage and many that get all 3 can get a free ride to Red.
Oh wow! I'm very impressed by Elekid! I thought it would be a tad slower than magby but he managed to hit it out of the park and win the price. Great work on this one ^^
It’s crazy to me how early it gets good. You would assume all the babies would be trash until much later. The move sets are the best determining factor for times so far I think
I knew eleckid was going to be the best baby. If you remember me in magbes premire live chat. I called it then. The electabuz was one of my favorites prior to gen 3. So im happy to see the little kid do well.
From three pretty strong baby Pokemon to three of the weakest ones in a row. 38:52 Stay strong, Scott! I hope they are somehow significantly better than Tyrogue...
I'm only getting to this video now (life has gotten in the way) and I haven't watched the full video yet, but I will predict that he will have an excellent run if only because of his excellent move pool. I've never really thought too much of Elekid or its evilutions, but Chuggaaconroy's playthrough of Black 2/White 2 has changed my mind woth how well his has been doing, so I'm expecting a similarly dominant performance!
Elekid really did a good job putting the elemental punches to use. I can’t wait to see how the evos in Magmar, Electabuzz, and Jynx will do.
Now that you mention it, Elekid do be sporting OG Final Fantasy 7 Popeye arms.
Oh wow, I'm kinda surprised you're doing Elekid now. I sorta figured you'd wanna space em out and do like a "good" baby mon followed by one of the "bad" ones. So Like Magby and then Igglybuff and then Smoochum and then Cleffa. Something to kinda space em out cause I feel like the next few are going to be a totally pain in the butt.
I like it this way, it makes the comparisons easier
This makes me excited for the 3 way race between their evolutions
elekid in the anime is a f'ing beast love the way he spins up his arms to use mudslap
I love the electabuzz line! I'm so happy it managed to beat Magby!
With Elekid doing so well, I can imagine how good Electabuzz would do in Crystal! Especially with it starting with Thunder Punch as a Level 1 move and identical TM / HM moveset plus Iron Tail, Hyper Beam, Strength and Rock Smash as options even if these moves are not that useful.
The way you pronounce Elekid is scratching at my brain in a bad way. But your videos are too good to skip any!
Your content is amazing mate. Be proud of yourself, and all people that you gathered around helping you with the video's.
I’ve always liked Elekid the most out of the trio it’s in, so this was especially rad to see it perform so well! Also, shoutout to the dapper gent Pryce for his badge giving ya a useful boost throughout the later parts of the run 👍
Commenting before the video as usual. I THINK we may have our winner out of all the babies here, I'm genuinely not sure, but I seem to recall that this little dude has all the elemental punches, plus really decent speed. We'll find out!
Gamefreak is CRACKED for giving Elekid Thunderpunch at level 9. And giving it all three elemental punches. Just bananas.
Pokémon stadium 2 had a level 5 cup mode and Elekid could boss that entire thing nearly single handedly. Thunderbolt, Fire Punch, Ice Punch and Psychic is amazing coverage.
I've been waiting for this one. In out original playthroughs of gold/silver I got elekid and she got smoochum
Me before I started following Scott's Thoughts: "Ugh graphs and stats are boring, it takes away the mystique of Pokémon!"
Me now: "Give me more graphs and optimization. More maths!"
This is gonna be a fun one. I've always looooved elekid since his arrival into pokemon. Electabuzz and magmar are 2 of my favorites, so it's just so nice they both got babies. Really fun and cool ones too! I think this guys gonna give magby a run for it's money, but I don't think it'll beat him
Incredible. I'm not bitter...I swear
Holy Crap the fact that it gets Thunderpunch at level 9 is insane. Also the fact that it can learn all of the Elemental Punches is =just silly.
Really impressive, I think the typing and move pool are what carried it the most. Curious to see how well Electabuzz and Magmar would do but I think the same scenarios will play out.
Elekid was definitely my favorite baby pokemon. When I got Elekid I never wanted to evolve mine!
16:40 I'm curious if ice punch would have gotten a OHK on meganium, the badge boost plus nevermeltice gives that extra umph!
I find it hilarious that in this game, a baby plug is way better at using the elemental punches than a professional boxer 😂
If not for the fact that Elekid and Magby didn't exist in generation one, it feels like they would have very naturally been a standard three-stage line. It's not surprising they've done well here. =)
Elekid is one of my favourite Pokémon. When I was a kid it hatched from the egg and it looked like a right trouble maker so made it a permanent member of my team. Never let it evolved either and ran wild with it 😂
This is the ultimate nerd. I am right on board. How many hours I spent in this 8 digit world? Too many? Yes.
This is the only baby I've ever actually used, I remember not even being in a rush to evolve it. Electric types hit a few walls in Gen 2 but when you have a team for those things they're really powerful.
Got an elekid from the dizzy punch egg in crystal thankfully since mareep doesn't exist was a big help that playthrough
In my mod of Crystal, Bruno is now a ground-type specialist to fill the ground void and make Chuck stand out more. Donphan gang rise up!
19:55 - not every day that the first reset is *Bruno* lmao
Elekid looks like if Kirby ate a power plug
11:33 - decided to fight no optional trainers between Morty and Chuck. Shows himself fighting a swimmer earlier 😅
Just finished smoochum! Very impressive!
Love your content! Please show me heracross and Snorlax gen 2!
He’s already done the snorlax rum actually.

Scott: I hope you tune in to these videos, they are gonna be really fun.

Can’t wait to see how the fighting/fighting venomoth takes on the next set of baby Pokémon.
Did this same run after breeding a shiny with Rolling Kick and Cross Chop. Then I taught it Thunderpunch and Ice Punch. This little guy can hit for sure.
Elekid gonna smash
Elemental Punches go burrr
03:20 alright, guess now we have 2 moves that have victims to bullying: Gligar with mud-slap and Raikou with thunderbolt :D
Elekid is a great Pokemon. It gets Cross Chop via Egg Move, which _significantly_ improves it. Crazy to think that these playthroughs aren't even Elekid at its full power!
ground ground venomoth crazy to think game freak was thinking about tera types all the way back in gen 2
I had a little plastic Elekid toy growing up, and it’s plug head could be plugged into a standard wall socket. Thankfully I was smart enough to not try that out, but I feel like that was a major design flaw.
Thats my boi my favorite pokemon line doing it the best. I will say that withiut those punches i dint think he would of gooten the best baby time
excellent work with the 0 reset run for Elekid!
This is the first time ever I have had back to back ads... I literally clicked to skip ad and another one started
I bet a certain someone thoroughly enjoyed that first reset.
If you think he didn't have enough coverage, Elekid and magby can also learn cross chop via breeding them with machops.
Meganium also is a 3rd stage evolution with much higher base stats… That could justify putting Elekid ahead of it
Elekid, the only figurine I got as a kid and tried to shove its head into wall socket. Good times 😂
Oh! Also would love to see legendary dogs playthroughs, but names after the eevvees!
Yea I agree with you about elekid design, gen 2 introduced the weird stuff
I can’t wait till I got off work and watch this while I eat
A fun challenge could be "How fast do the legendary teams beat their game. so gen 1 Mew and Mewtwo, (or the birds) Gen 2 could be Lugia and Ho-Oh (or dogos) and so on and so on. you could rank them as teams for their speed and consistency. :)
Would love to see a follow up series of all these baby pokemon grown up. Would love to see how their evolutions correlate with the baby forms on a tier list.
When you start to question if Scott is doing all the baby pokemon to announce something new in his life 👀 👶...
In Red and Blue, in fact NONE of the gym leader TMs can be learnt by level-up. At least I think that's the case. I can't think of anything that learns Mega Drain, Fissure, Toxic, Bide, etc, either.
Top tier gen 2 mon and excited for this for sure.
In Gen 1, I believe no Pokemon learns Gym-TM-Moves via level up (besides Pikachu in yellow).
That's true in Gen 2 as well, if I remember correctly.
Banger video as always
Elekid, Magby, and Smoochum are nothing like the other babies. They aren't lesser forms to already unevolved Pokémon and so they are more like first stage Pokemon, pretty good first stage Pokémon at that with their moveset diversity.
The elemental punches are quite broken in Johto, especially given how early you get the TMs. Elekid's stats (and early access to ThunderPunch and Thunderbolt) really help it too. Igglybuff, Cleffa, and Pichu... well, not so much. I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 were slower than Togepi.
I can’t wait until we can get a Scott’s thoughts live nuzlocke
Hmm, would it be worth skipping hidden power if it isnt that mandatory? But I liked the vid, great as always, best poke contentuber!
