The Sudanese food and culture seems very similar to that of Somalia as well. The attire, henna, tea with milk, small injera like bread which they call anjero, laid back culture, etc. I think that all Islamic/Arabic countries have a lot in common, but also the East African countries, regardless of religion, share similar cultural traits to some extent.
By the way, that outfit and the color looks really nice on you. And we are missing your hubby. Keep the videos coming. You guys always brighten my day. ❤️

Somalia is farrrr from Sudan and stip the cap, y’all don’t eat injera. It’s not anjero u need to have teff in injera. 🤦‍♀️

Hello Zoya. I love Pakistani foods. Sometimes I love it so much, I tend to be very careful not to eat the plate that came with it.
I grew up in Sudan from the age of 7 years old to 13 and moved to the USA. I love Sudanese people to the core. I love their culture, food and hospitalities. What Amenia mentioned on the video, it is all True and more.

Hi Amena and Elias, I am a proud Eritrean that was born in Khartoum , Sudan. I miss it like no other. Bamya(orkra stew) and foul are one of my favorite dishes, including mahlahbeeya(no auto correct for that) and the sweets in Sudan cant be out matched. They say if you need an accountant, make sure he is Sudanese; a testament to the people. My childhood was rich b/c of my Sudanese neighbors. #onelovetomypeople

Well done! Thank you. Love these cultural videos. I met some Eritreans visiting from Germany and their jewelry was stunning! That 22/24k gold is gorgeous. There’s nothing like it. Even some of the more expensive jewelry here looks mass-produced. Hospitality says a lot about a culture. I’ve been places where the people didn’t even offer you a glass of water, after walking to their house, parched and out of breath (on a hot day!). SMH. Sudan sounds like an interesting place.

10:58 - Yes!! In Jamaica we call this plant and drink "sorrel." 🖤💚💛 Traditionally, around the end-of-year holidays, we make this drink with fresh ginger & brown sugar....mmmm...🇯🇲 🇯🇲 😊😋😋
Also, our Senegalese friend calls it Bissap. We find it in Latin-American grocery stores under the name "flor de Jamaica" (Jamaican hibiscus flowers). We love these cultural story-times on your channel. Irie!

Western and eastern lowlands of Eritrea have more or less similar cultures to the Sudan. As a citizen of Eritrea and having lived in the western lowlands for some time, I did not feel like a stranger in the Sudan. Food, weather, music and all is similar to my country. I picked up some Arabic while I was there and back at home. I enjoyed sleeping outdoors which is also common in Eritrea, eating one of the best ful I ever had. Shawarma and sheya served outdoors is also amazing which is something that I can't forget. And enjoyed the laid back nature of Sudanese people, their music and etc. Can you please send a link where you buy your Bhukoor incense in the US? I miss the Sudanese smell...Thanks for your video Amina!

I really wonder where that yelling during weddings comes from? I always thought it was a Cameroonian thing because we do that same yelling during our weddings. I've heard Congolese people and north africans do it during their weddings as well.

I enjoyed learning about Sudanese culture. Here in the United States, we don't get true images of Africa and the depth of its beauty in its peoples. Yes, I would love to learn about weddings. I know that they are huge in many parts of the world! I would also like to learn about the Ethiopian alphabet, as it is so different from that used in most western nations. A series based on that alone would be so interesting and enlightening to me. Thank you.

Greetings to you, Amena. I thoroughly enjoyed this video about Sudan. I'm a South African writing from Johannesburg. I wanted to say that most of what you say about Sudan is typical of most of Africans. Things like eating together, eating with our hands, and so on. Although most people in the cities have abandoned most of those practices. The sound that you say Sudanese women make during traditional ceremonies like weddings, you find all over Africa. We call it 'ululating' here. I look forward to more videos about Sudan.

Thank you for sharing info on Sudanese culture. I have only seen pics or TV on about Sudanese people. They were always very, very dark people. Are you the same people? a mixture & speak the same language? Thank you for your info.
