Yay I wondered why there was a backdrop rush! Thanks all, it's made a quiet part of the year much better, keep em coming! There are more in the works and we're always looking for feedback on what sort of backdrops people want. It's made me super happy to see them making people appreciate their minis more by spending more time photographing and admiring them (the lego was ace too!)

The modern mindset of only playing on flat plains with ruins is something that bugs me. I'm really happy to hear people talking about doing something different.
In 40k it's largely because ruins only thing that has proper rules and keep lethality so that he who goes 1st wins automatically.
Legions has much more sensible terrain rules
I'm not doing either LI or TOW, but I love To4G and always enjoy listening to you chat about whatever game it is. Ian mentioned on Painting Phase that this isn't very popular, but I love it, keep it up!
Gary could probably "solve" the missing banner-bearer problem by scratch-building his own banner from wire and aluminium. Stick that on the base, and say the bearer planted it and then died. Maybe putting some roughly formed Green Stuff bits that look like space marine body parts littering the ground.
It's not a replacement for the missing model. But it would fill that gap in the command squad.
These guys has already painted armies and I have jet to receive the box I pre-ordered.
I'm all in on White Scars, so seeing Bobbie's progress was very helpful! I also have been playing AT for a while now, and have several maniples and knights already painted; however, I have an unbuilt Corsair maniple that I've been meaning to paint up in Legio Astorum colors, and since they were apparently buddy buddy with the Scars during the Heresy, I'll be painting them for LI! Thankfully I don't need to have the whole maniple done to use them!
GW have been doing the "return to retailer" thing for at least a year now. It's frustrating, but I suspect it's to try to make buying direct more appealing.
I'm very excited to see some Imperialis content pop up! It was definitely my most anticipated release of the year, but the delay meant that I've probably got to sit out until we see another wave of product releases. I've got my fingers crossed for Mechanicum/Chaos/Custodes in the future but I'm also a little frightened of how all that trim and wiring will scale down.

Heh, my gaming circle must be a group of weirdos in the crossover with Necromunda and WarCry.

My arty eight year old has no interest in models. That was until she saw Bobbie talking and has now done a 180 and asking about painting yellow😂.
I got the box and noone to trade with. I think I'll do old Epic Imperial Army. 40k and Armageddon are my preferred rules. Anyway Space Marines as elite mechanised guys, Guard or whatever as all the artillery, super heavy tanks, navy as fliers.
About returning to sale point, it is possible that GW are happy to send a new little mini,but want it to be trough the retailer. Possibly as a matter of logistics.
Contrast paints and washes are the key to getting your Epic scale armies painted and on the table quickly - like, just slop on the stuff over a white spray paint. Yeah you'll still have to do some careful painting of other bits, but you should do your main armour, clothing or skin (whatever covers most of the model) in a contrast paint or a wash. It'll pick out all the details and do a lot of the work for you. Then the rest of the colours should be a lot easier - but very repetitive.
Think you bit overestimate on how much release schedule was altered. Main box was delayed yes but the great slaughter(preorder 27.1) with drop pods etc might very well been january. There wasn't that many skipped weekends except in december 2.
Separate releases for starter box tanks and missing marine fliers might have come out by now though.
Tow was planned for november it seems btw but legion delay pushed it bit
there are no rolling green hills and grass its all been flattened for the industrial complex that is the imperium

Most likely I'm the first one in my country with a painted up LI army, looking at the hobby forums and discords ^^. But imperialis models are quick to paint, I painted up one boxset worth of marines in 3 hours.
39:00 there was a bunch of such situations with Warlord Games models missing parts, or huge miscasts. They have always send replacemnts without any issues.
I had the same thing from customer service with my kill team into the dark box. All the faces on the breachers were smashed in, and I was told “oh go back to Marionville models” about it. I think it’s another little thing GW are trying to use to position as buying from GW directly as better.
No it's just the legal responsibility is with the retailer, not the manufacturer, thats UK consumer law. I had an issue with a direct purchase LI rulebook, they fixed it right away no hassle.
Honestly I may be a wierd outlier. In that I have so much interest in Legiones Imperialis, but almost no interest in Old World.
A little note to say, you are not alone. I love the Old World setting but will stick to the TTRPG format for it!
You're not alone. I had a Dwarf army for WFB in the late 80's. I have zero desire for the Old World. Imperialis is now an extension of Age of Darkness2 for me.
Me too. If tOW had been Empire and Skaven, or armies that speak to the setting better, it might be different. But to me, Bretonia feels very uninteresting and generic and while I like the tomb kings, they're too far from where the setting is based i.e. in and around the Empire. That's where it's interesting for me!
Same. I have Song of Ice and Fire for my rank and flank needs.

Russ’ point is where I sit. Loved Epic (even 40K don’t hurt me) but Fantasy is my true love so money is going there rather than LI which is a shame. Hope that it’ll still be there in a year.
Think gw sells bases for our aerounotica stuff so we can have the thin legiones imperialis bases for our planes
It's good to hear other hobbyists going "Yeah, nah, there's no point doing all the tiny little details at this scale" - I'm doing my auxilia at the moment and even putting shade on them I'm having to wipe most of it straight back off or it'll swallow up what little detail there is!

Agree with you that photographing LI models can be difficult. Focus stacking is definitely the way to go. Louise Sugden has a good video on it. It’s not difficult but you need the right software to merge the images (either Photoshop of Affinity Photo).
I couldn't give a damn about Old World, I don't think the cross over is as big as you think (played Epic since 1989!)
From what I see Old World will be a flop or be a close one. The only people I hear about wanting to play it already have armies for them and don't need to buy much for it, but for someone to start from zero with OW will need a lot of models. Its the same problem old fantasy had.
9:20 I'm AoS player. Totally not interested in 40k & Old World as that itch is scratched. I got on board of Legions as those epic scale got me interested. 3d printing is helpful regarding the currently box shortage
I was talking to a guy who knows one of the Game developers. Apparently LI was a victim of bad luck with the original release delay and office politics. Someone iss puhing old world to be the 2nd major game system for 2024.

Does anyone play through the scales. Like Aeronautica to epic to Armageddon to kill team where where every turn conflict is decid3d through the various other games? The royal family could afford to play and maybe some Saudi princes, but I'd watch.
We used to do this with old epic and mighty empires 😊 A recent white dwarf had rules for doing this with LI and other games
Love this series and absolutely will continue to watch, but I am kinda hoping Old World doesn't get popular. I celebrated when they killed it. I had nothing but bad experiences with racists and pricks when I played fantasy and reading comments from WFB fan boys on AoS has led me to believe the community is still shit.
Only cool WFB person I met was the dude who taught me the game then went off to college.
And I just don't really care about imperialis. Looks fun, but I'm xeno player in 40k- and anything but humans in AoS/ Warcry.
Yeah I think we're mostly gonna be playing each other. Most OW groups seem to still be on Facebook and are bloody horrific!
I'm very much the opposite. I think the Malcadors look rubbish and only want the Russ. That said, I already have so many models from every previous edition of Epic that I really shouldn't get any of the new ones just because they're very pretty
"easy pr win". Well that's what gw used to do. And it got abused.
Luckily missing banner is least issue. Unless you spam the pioneer formation with min tacticals you won't notice. If you add any tacticals to detachment or use demi company you have command stand you can't use.
And if you play infantry heavy army even at 2k you are looking at 8 boxes minimum :)
