As someone who has 1.3k hours in the game and is rank 114k i feel like I literally can't improve and i rarely have fun playing, but its like an unhealthy addiction and i can't quit playing.
@@uniter343 playing on and off might help. I remember randomly being able to stream 180 when i came back to osu after a break and it stayed like that. I have 2.6k hours and I personally decided that it was time to quit w. Enjoy yourself, enjoy other things and you may be able to get past your wall one of the breaks you may take. HF with osu.
I am someone who Naturally doesent improve fast. I used to compare myself to tournament teammates. I was demotivated and didn't enjoy the game so I stopped for a long while. I got my interest rekindled after watching a video that got me back. I went in with a new mindset and now i feel like everything in the game is fun. Find that mindset that helps you have fun. It's not easy but you won't regret it.
I have similar hours and after 6 years of playing almost continuously I managed to basically have a whole year of no osu (like 500 playcount over a year). For me taking a small break turned into a much bigger break because when I came back I was complete shit and didn't really get good very fast, so I gave up and thought about returning some other time. When I did return I was even shittier than before lmao and ever since then I just started playing casually every once in a while when there was basically nothing else to do, and honestly its much better this way.
Great video. I too was in the same spot but on a different game. Now, I just enjoy what I play and have fun picking up skills from multiple genre of video games. No longer trying to reach ranks has been mentally healthy for me.
top players didnt have a "natural apitude" and I think saying stuff like that underminds how much effort top players put into their craft. I took longer than average to improve at beatsaber, it took me months to beat an expert + level and a year or two to beat something even like overkill I have 4,000 + hours in the game studying and improving and ive played since I was 11 year old. I was a top player but not out of natural skill or anything like that but out of sheer effort and practice
A big reason why I play osu! is because I'm not "talented" at it, it's much more rewarding to me to do things which don't come naturally. Also, what type of person is more inspiring, somebody who does what they find easy then becomes good at what they do simply because they followed their intuition, or somebody who had to struggle, experiment, and learn lessons along the way to achieve their goal?
This being recommended to me after starting again after a 6 year break feels like an Insult. 🙃 Dropped it because i didn't get better, joined back because i missed it. Only playing when i want to play a bit, getting better comes by itself. Taking a break really can make a difference, especially if you had time to play games like Battle Royales, where you were mad after every round and stuff. So yes, osu! is a waste of Time but then also: what part of gaming isn't. It's there to waste countless hours doing what you love to do, some cases even can do best (at least feels like that somedays)
I mean its a waste of time if your trying to be the very best, but if your playing just for fun its not a waste of time since not only osu but many games our a waste of time.
Nah but fr can everyone leave this kid alone he just didnt know how to get his point acorss that playing to be the best is a waste of time because unless it comes natruly it most likely wont come at all
If osu is a waste of time, any game is a waste of time, any hobby is a waste of time. Please precise "trying to reach top1/top10 is a waste of time" not "playing osu!".
the question of "is osu a waste of time" is for the players who play for the sole purpose of being good or rank (majority) not for players who actually play for themselves and enjoy game (minority)
Way better video than AryN. Both have the same topic, but this video explains the topic way better. Not trying to badmouth AryN, at least he apologize and realized his mistakes.
Yes it is, and almost no one outside of osu! gives a shit about osu! and who's good at osu! especially anyone higher than top 50.. so.. stop taking the game so seriously, grind, enjoy music....

thanks frenz for single handedly saving the 4/5/6 digits hope for enjoying the game instead of dropping it because they're not #1

But hear me out: What if the time we wasted was the friends we made along the way.
Bro jump scared us with the "but not for the reason you think"
I play mania but imo, it's that I don't wanna be the best. I just wanna beat my brother, who just so happens to be incredibly good
Everything is a waste of time. We waste time living when we could die instead, which we will eventually

I find it very funny that we as a community have to have this discussion.

The time is definitely not wasted, but it is incredibly demotivating to improve so much slower and hit a ceiling so much earlier than most people.

you must have seriously done something wrong if you arent improving no offense.

really good knowledge and wisdom i gained from this, i will use this to hopefully climb the ranks in GD and osu!, thanks dude
Dude this isn't related to the topic but your voice is so calming that I would've watched this video even if I didn't know shit about osu!.
I think the difference between top players and the rest of us is that they have fun playing while we have more fun thinking about playing well
