- Best of Olga Smirnova, born in St. Petersburg, Russia. She graduated from Vaganova Ballet Academy, Lyudmila Kovaleva’s class, in 2011, and joined the Bolshoi Ballet as a soloist the same year. She was promoted to first soloist in 2012 and to leading soloist in 2013. Smirnova made her debut with American Ballet Theatre in 2014 dancing Nikiya in La Bayadère.

Comparing to Maya Plisetzkaya or Ekaterina Maximova Mlle Smirnova is close to nothing.

you are not kidding? She can be very nasty as she is from a family of "have it all". I have never seen anything really remarkable that she ever performed.

She's so good that Bolshoi recruited her straight into the rank of soloist right after her graduation from the Academy. That is quite literally unheard of. Not to mention by the end of her second season she was promoted to leading soloist. I believe she held that rank for three years before being promoted to principal.
...and now she's joining the Dutch National Ballet!

Most superior brilliance of a ballerina I've ever witnessed on screen! One can have a dream, but I hope to see her in person perform before I pass into the next realm of life. I've seen Maya Plisetskaya, a privilege.
Try to witness Paris ballet. Or Royal. Or ABT. To see the difference.
@@lenaecklund3832 Russian ballet is the best. Russian, French, British, then American is the order. If you follow dancing you should know this and the consensus is pretty clear. I agree, it's fun to watch the difference because you can appreciate how Superior the Russians are
I'm Russian. Born and raised in moscow. If ballet was not corrupted like many other aspects of life in Russia, Russian dancers would be competitive. Smirnova is in ballet because of her father. She is hard working, but she's a mediocre dancer like most of them.
Olga embodies each role with great passion ( and countless hours in the studio) and has a brilliant technique. Also, she is a real "jewel" in the diamond variation-stunning. Again, thanks for all of your amazing videos. ❤❤🌹🌹💞💕
"small" thing: good technique is missing. Bolshoi is a joke of a ballet. They have turned into a privileged cabaret for political leaders and collective farmers long time ago. Now dirty Russian money spread "talents" all over the world. In this video, I saw little real challenging ballet, though she can be pretty: what else?

Then the long shot - - of the large area of the film setting. It has set up - - a fantastic overall look - - to your Best Of Smirnova story❗Which consequently makes your work of art - - an excellent Montage story❗IMHO Smirnova is a greatly talented ballet dancer❗ And her - - Bridesmaid dance - - is one of my favourite❗Thank you @ DLB for posting.

she doesn't have good technique at all, world standards are not for Bolshoi. Bolshoi is the company with almost no talents.

@@yachanyauqan6186 ballet technique. Not a sequence of pretty simple moves, but the technique of the high art. Lower standards are in a cabaret.

It feels like she’s always behind the music.
This may be a hallmark of the Russian "legato"-infused style - where the upper body reflects the melody and not the beat. For me, I find this style of dance more expressive but understand that others may have a different taste.

Is it only me? She is top and very talented..but I feel there are many artists of the same capabilities that bring interesting interpretations of the roles. Maybe she was just at the right place at the right time. Do not find her superior to eg Ulyana Lopatkina
