@macleod41069. You'll don't need an app. You just need iOS 18.1 Which is scheduled to be released Monday October 28, 2024. Here is a sneak peak of the step by step process- th-cam.com/video/O9H37I0Dh-w/w-d-xo.html
Thanks you for your sharing. The Airpods Pro 2 hearing aid is the adjustable wireless speaker and it is not real hearing aid. without iphone or computer or any smart phone, the Airpods pro 2 can hear nothing -- please correct me. Thanks
@smyrnatennese2711 You're absolutely right! The AirPods Pro 2 can offer some hearing assistance features like amplification and noise cancellation, but they aren’t true hearing aids. They rely on an iPhone or other Apple devices to access these features through Live Listen or third-party apps. Unlike traditional hearing aids, which are standalone medical devices specifically designed to treat hearing loss, AirPods Pro 2 need a connected device to function as a hearing enhancer. For people without access to a hearing healthcare professional, these can potentially help them hear better, but they are not a replacement for prescriptive hearing aids. Thanks for pointing that out!
Not true. Once the AirPods Pro 2 are setup they will act as a hearing aid, even in the absence of an iPhone. I know. I bought a new 16 Pro Max and AirPods Pro 2. Looking forward to the official release of the Apple software.
AirPods Pro2 can add background sounds now (even before this hearing aid update) A choice of 6 noise types with variable amplitude. It’s in accessibility settings menu.
The AirPod Pro 2 are not new. The ability to utilize them as hearing aids or enhancements will be available in an IOP software update. I’m excited about it too as I have mild hearing impairment and tinnitus. The other downside to using them in this fashion is the limited battery life of about 6-8 hours per single charge.😊
On the upside you can buy 4 pairs for the cost of one hearing aid. I have hearing aids and they cost over $1000 each. The Airpod Pro 2 are $249 for a pair. The downside is possibly that they are very visible.
What app do you use for the hearing test

Yes you need a device to first adjust them then you don’t need to continually have that device with you for them to work.
If they can have some type of white noise to help cancel out some of the chronic tinnitus, that would be amazing.

@@ThePrawlin it’s not the same as hearing aids that can target the sound I hear. It’s rain and whatever other white noises.
@zwall8474 That would be great. Maybe that will be a feature they’ll add in the future like how some prescriptive hearing can or biofeedback therapy.

Correct @janetstanley3645. They don’t last as long like some prescriptive rechargeable hearing aids that last 51 hours on a single charge.
@raywelch6954 🤣 true.
