A few things learned about ponds from watching letsdig18 videos: having a pond is expensive from installation to maintenance, don't discount the importance of clay, contracting with an experienced earthworks professional (with reliable equipment) is crucial, older ponds have dam problems (pun intended 😉😍), ........etc. Happy Holidays, Everyone! ☃🎁🎄🎅
Just look at Dirt Perfect, one of his employees had another outfit build a dam and it utterly will not hold ANY water.. it cuts right through the bottom creating voids, and never filled. Upon cut through testing, they found sand layers in the dam walls too... so they are simply removing the entire thing, creating flat yard area, and lightly sloped yard. Total fail, no clay lining, porous non structural soils in the 'walls'. and bottom.
I know where the is a 70 year old dam that has no problems. It was built in the early 1950's. It holds back almost 2 acres of water up to 20' deep at the deep end.
I understood WHY you did what you did regarding the sand and... "Gray Slime"... you encountered in that dam, after Mike's "Mission Impossible" video yesterday. I became aware of both of you when you did those shows working together. I've gotta tell you, Chris, I've learned a hell of a lot from both of you... things I hope I put to work on subsequent trips back to my nephews ranch. Thank you, my friend...........
WOW, that was some hole. Losing the truck put the size into perspective! I too got a package from my favorite excavation team! Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 to all.
Nice job as always Chris...and "Organized Bomb" or not...after 4 years of watching you all work...I can already see a nice maintainable slope... a wider road on top, and a hay field pit all regraded with original top soil, then a trailer full of straw blown over a freshly seeded base...collect check and go to another one!! PROs from A to Z!!
Great video as always. I love the way you pivot to plan “b” if plan “a” doesn’t work out! On a side note of the personal kind! Thanks for proving that my wife of 40 years still loves me! I picked up the mail today and she had a nice package addressed to her from you and I pretended not to notice. I decided to let her surprise me😀 Janice knows I watch your videos but doesn’t quite understand! I did get her to watch your most viewed excavator recovery video and she was impressed with that one for sure! Thanks for all you do and have a merry Christmas! I know I will!
And even on a cold December morning the Pond Master & crew are doing their majic. I know you hate ash clouds- they are hard on machine filters. Hope you have something nice to show us for [Chris]tmas.
That was a lot of mud y’all moved, looking great Chris. Just in case you don’t post anything before Christmas, I want wish you and your family and friends a safe and bless Merry Christmas
You were right that hole didn't look that deep on the video until I saw the haul truck stuck in it. Merry Christmas to you and Uncle John, and the rest of your family. Also to the other 550k subscribers
Damn. The borrow pit looked kinda small and shallow. Then you show the haul truck in there and it looked like a Matchbox toy. Took a bit of material to fix that dam up for sure.
When they sell, property owners should advertise their ponds and such were excavated by Chris/ Letsdig18-eventually, if not already, his reputation is bound to increase property values.
Informative and interesting video, as always. Thanks so much! Hope you make time to enjoy the holidays! You deserve relaxation and fun after so much work all year! May all your wishes come true🎄
Chris you Work always so Perfect, to find a Place where is the best Material for the Dam, mak a Hole and to take the Earth and repair the Dam. And then have you the Place for the Mud. Good Work this Day. I glad me on the continuation. Then all Pond and Dam building is different. 👍
Chris….I just had a good idea and it involved you sending some of that good clay to dirt perfect……so maybe he could use it on building Matt his dream dam or fixing the large crack running through the bottom of it and I would like to wish both you and all of the people in your family a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
I was hoping for a vid today from Chris so when I saw one posted I saved it to watch as I eat my supper. His abilities to save ponds has become legendary.
Well see anther pond dam you working on you do nice work on them. Marry Christmas chis to you and your family. How is Winston doing haven't seen him in a while.
Well Chris I’m glad to see you and John get back to that job and get it finished before Christmas so anyway brother if I don’t talk to you anymore this week you and John and yawls family have a blessed and merry Christmas and happy new year brother it has been a great year following you through your journey of working every day. So another great video my friend so you and John and yawls family stay safe and I hope we get to see another one tomorrow
Lordy I had forgotten about this one - it sure has a way of reminding you though. The land on this job just never stops coming up with things to throw at you. 🙄 Be well Chris. 😉
Hey Chris !!! Yepper !!! Doing what you like best ,,Playing in a mud hole !! HAHA How's Betty doing as have you found the parts for the transmission cooling pump ??? Have a good week & Enjoy the Holidays ahead !!
Getting it done !! Man, that ramp down into the borrow pit looked like it was slick as snot , when you was pushing Unk out !! lolol... Great as always Chris,, Have a Great Evening , and On too the Next !!
It wasn't a failed pond dam it had more to do with the lack of good clay in the area to fix the fissure in the bottom of the pond between 2 stone types and after looking for clay they dug the dam to see what was there The water just vanished down the fissure before it had a chance to fill the pond
That blue clay is sentiment from the large lakes and rivers that used to run through the mountains when they resembled the Alps. Floods would wash the sentiment both organic and clay down the mountains forming the Carolina flat lands. The sentiment holds water and expands when wet. The clay dose not. Over millions of years the sentiment washes out of the clay and collect under it. Thus the blue color. That high rise in San Francisco that is leaning. The pillions are sitting in blue clay. And a ten year old airport in Utah. Had to shut down and be excavated to remove the blue clay it was built on. Because the airport was sinking.
You made ne laugh, Chris! "It looks like a bomb went off, but it's an organized bomb!" I've said that a few times with some of my projects. But usually the last part is MY reply, when my wife says the first part. LOL Haha Plan your work, work your plan! That's you Chris, the man with a plan.
"Dirt Perfect" just had a good example of a friend "Mr Millennial" going a little cheap ($15k) to build a pond and having it not hold water (not enough good clay) and the builder not telling them so. 😢😢😢
I used to cultivate corn in my sleep at nite. I wonder if you run the excavator in your sleep some times. Concentrating all day not to plow up corn got too me sometimes.

If I were to have one built I would have him do it, hands down. And get logger wade to clear the trees for Chris 😂
and when these folks build their home they will have a house by a "dam site". Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all 🎄

water storage lowers you homes fire insurance rate..... whether it is a storage tank or a pond.

Never a Shortage of Dam Repair Jobs. The Dam is obviously the Most important part of a Pond. 👍
Happy Christmas to you, your family and to all my co follower's! Best wishes from Norway 🇧🇻 🇧🇻
Good morning to you, great way to clean out the truck.
Its always interesting when the big equipment and big John is involved 👍

Damn spit out my beer when I seen the truck in the hole! It didn't seem that big! Very entertaining video Chris!
WOW, that was some hole. Losing the truck put the size into perspective! I too got a package from my favorite excavation team! Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 to all.
Amazing! That hole didn’t look that big until the truck was in it! 😳
You are a highly skilled drain surgeon.
Looking good Chris.
...looks like another good fix, keep safe..

Certainly this would be a selling point!

I was surprised too ! Looking from Chriss' cabin can be deceving. 😳 And by his calm tone, you necer know.
What in hell does it take to impress him !?
Chris you Work always so Perfect, to find a Place where is the best Material for the Dam, mak a Hole and to take the Earth and repair the Dam. And then have you the Place for the Mud. Good Work this Day. I glad me on the continuation. Then all Pond and Dam building is different. 👍
At 17:39 the reflection of your hand in the window on the bucket woke me right up, it looks like you dug up a hand!
Chris….I just had a good idea and it involved you sending some of that good clay to dirt perfect……so maybe he could use it on building Matt his dream dam or fixing the large crack running through the bottom of it and I would like to wish both you and all of the people in your family a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Putting dirt in or out of trk Chris is 👍👍👍👍
Merry Christmas, and I’m loving the Tshirt and stickers! Thanks!
Always enjoyable to watch! 👍
I was hoping for a vid today from Chris so when I saw one posted I saved it to watch as I eat my supper.
His abilities to save ponds has become legendary.
Wow it really does look a mess but with your touch Chris all will be well.I keep rewatching lol 👍🏻
Yeah it’s going to look good when you finish Chris, no doubt brother! Thanks for sharing 👌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
The haul out of mud looks to have damaged the dam, but I assume that more clay will be add so no problems. Have a wonderful day.
Dig a hole, lay a pipe, keep fingers crossed, then Hire Chris to fix it and Make it Right! Merry Christmas !
That 250 can move a lot of dirt in a day.
The Ole 250 it's nice to see it again
The truck never got stuck that much when Timmy was driving!😉
But with a broken glass ! 🤣🤣🤣
Well see anther pond dam you working on you do nice work on them. Marry Christmas chis to you and your family. How is Winston doing haven't seen him in a while.

Hey Chris !!! Yepper !!! Doing what you like best ,,Playing in a mud hole !! HAHA How's Betty doing as have you found the parts for the transmission cooling pump ??? Have a good week & Enjoy the Holidays ahead !!

Chris love your uploads please upload a movie long video.Would love that.Merry Christmas To You And Yours 👍🏻🎅
what did you make of dirt perfect last video on failed pond dam.
It wasn't a failed pond dam it had more to do with the lack of good clay in the area to fix the fissure in the bottom of the pond between 2 stone types and after looking for clay they dug the dam to see what was there
The water just vanished down the fissure before it had a chance to fill the pond
That cab must feel nice and warm after you did your P.M.s. Wow what a mess you're dealing with.
That blue clay is sentiment from the large lakes and rivers that used to run through the mountains when they resembled the Alps. Floods would wash the sentiment both organic and clay down the mountains forming the Carolina flat lands. The sentiment holds water and expands when wet. The clay dose not. I would love to have a pond.
You made ne laugh, Chris!
"It looks like a bomb went off, but it's an organized bomb!"
I've said that a few times with some of my projects. But usually the last part is MY reply, when my wife says the first part. LOL Haha
Plan your work, work your plan! That's you Chris, the man with a plan.
That pond is so shallow, it looks like a big mudpuddle!
Honestly! I live in KS and I've seen fields that could hold more water! 😀😃🙂🙃
Haven't had a chance to watch you lately chris been extremely busy but did share a lot of your vids but still love what ya do
Got up to 7 deg F today at my house in eastern ND.
The wonderful world of 'dirt' and how it can be transformed.
Well the owner of the pond has got the right one to fix the leaking pond dam
Nice job 👍🏻🇺🇸
good pond video
Right Chris roll out the next one.Im waiting lol 👍🏻
Good job you got the 250
Love you're videos, miss da life. 😃
27:10 Called a Smart Bomb.
Merry Christmas for uk
The wife came in all concerned when I said "HOLY CRAP!" out loud after seeing the truck in that hole!
Hi Chris great entertainment happy Christmas. Have you seen the vibrating plate dirt boss used on the mini. Some job but limited use
Sticky wicket there now. One those dump tires fill up, thats it. They look pretty old also.
🏴found a way to stop adverts👍👍👍👍👍👍
The spring has sprung brother
I love you and your videos.
As always Chris, true professionalism. Although, never seen you call before you dig. LOL. Just kidding.
Question; how come you didn't dig out all the Grey layer in the left and right of the dam wall?
Which is more efficient? The 250, a touch slower or the 220. Smaller but faster. Love to watch a project come together.
Wet soils/material i.e. mud is certainly not the contractors' friend is it!
Super 👍
Well between the weight of the truck and the load its sure packing down that dam for aure
"Dirt Perfect" just had a good example of a friend "Mr Millennial" going a little cheap ($15k) to build a pond and having it not hold water (not enough good clay) and the builder not telling them so. 😢😢😢
And DP told him he wouldn't recommend it -- the subsurface cracks and sinks were such that no amount of clay would have sealed them for long
I used to cultivate corn in my sleep at nite. I wonder if you run the excavator in your sleep some times. Concentrating all day not to plow up corn got too me sometimes.
