You’ve given me the knowledge and courage to get out in my garage and create. Thank you for all the lessons along the way.

nice video. These days such stuff in steel on youtube is commonplace but Bill does it with composite!

I understand that vacuum bagging requires more work. Is that the reason you don't use that method? It seems like doing a vacuum infusion would make for a cleaner process and better overall product. Thank you for doing these instructionals, I've found them very useful.

Vacuum bagging and vacuum infusion are two different things. Bagging describes placing the laid up, resin impregnated job in a plastic bag then putting it under vacuum to withdraw all air bubbles. Infusion is where the unlaid job is placed in a bag, with tubes to supply & withdraw the resin . When vacuum is applied and the resin input hose opened the resin flows through the job. This method removes all excess resin, and is used in the F1 and aerospace industry where the tiniest weight differences are critical (not the case in club level race cars). I don't demonstrate vacuum bagging normally (although I have done so once), as you need more equipment and skills, and I am trying to encourage beginners to have a go at composites, and also to debunk the industry myth that you ALWAYS have to use vacuum bagging with composites.

It's also more time consuming & costly process. Bill shows how regular people can produce whatever they want without the hassle and additional costs of obtaining all the supplies necessary for the process.
Racecar parts vs showcar parts. Function over form type of thing.

@@estewar03Exactly! I never got beaten at racing because the other guy had vacuum bagged his parts and I didn't. 🤣
