@Jeremy S. I highly doubt they will drop it, I am sure as the pain and anger in Perrin and all that struggle grows, it will get to a point where he has to let all that out and we get it addressed directly.

I've been reading the books of this series for 30 years, it's been a HUUUUGE part of my life in that time. Been waiting for an adaptation in all that time, and I adore it. I've not watched a lot of reactions to it, because I haven't felt the need - I love it, that's enough for me. But this is one of the best videos I've seen reacting to ANYthing. You guys have made my day. I've subscribed and am so looking forward to your reaction to episode 2!
This is what I love about reaction videos. It lets people like me who have read all the books and been immersed in the fandom for years look at this amazing story with a completely new set of eyes. The Wheel keeps on turning, but it's always someone's first time around.
It's nice having been with the characters for so long to see how they adapt it. But it is super exciting to witness the reaction of people coming into this franchise and how much they like it.
Alot of people say that Mat took them from a safe hiding spot, but everyone assumes that he would know that they will repell the attack. why would he know that. If they just butchered everyone in the village and started feasting for 1-2 days they would find them. So getting them out into the forest would be good.
I'm a big fan of this book series and have been waiting for this for 25+ years. You all are hilarious. You have NO idea about about the lore, the world or the plot and all three of you were spot on...on some of the things that were about to happen. The lightning, the party is over, etc. It was a LOT of fun watching your reactions. Thanks. I've subscribed and will come back to watch your next episodes, too. Thank you.

The river ceremony was just a coming of age ritual. By getting her braid and a little swim she became an adult woman of the village. Men probably have their own version that the women don't know about.
@@combogalis Mhm, joining the women's circle is, for the village of Emond's Field, the formal process of becoming an adult woman. Theoretically, you could not join, but that doesn't really happen. Even Laila was part of the women's circle, she just didn't attend their events or meetings it seems.

Love seeing a reaction from people who are unfamiliar with the books, and as a long time fan of the property it is interesting to see it from that fresh perspective. You guys picked up on a lot of really important details that are going to play a major part in the story later. These books are a masterpiece of foreshadowing and every detail could potentially be brought up later in a much more significant way. Thanks for checking it out, and I hope you keep up with it as the story only gets better from here. (They have to cram a LOT of story and character building into the early episodes, but it’s worth it!)
Wheel of Time is actually post apocalyptic. So it takes place in the our future, but after an apocalypse that set technology back to around the 1700s. So it’ll always have a not really medieval but still not really modern vibe.
Specifically, the apocalypse happened between the second age (the age of legends) and the third age (when the story takes place). The first age is what was implied to be modern day earth, although it may have also ended in an apocalypse or two.
That's also why the wheel of time is really diverse. The cultures we see are the descendants of groups of survivors of a fully globalised society which managed to survive that apocalypse
You have no idea how happy your reactions made me! As a long time reader we knew there had to be changes (and there are a LOT) BUT - from your reactions we can see you understand these characters a lot faster from it being done this way, and you really get the emotion that would hit you losing/killing so many people and your peaceful life being turned upside down - (this shit happens for refugees all the time - not the trollocs lol but the losses and displacement). As you all said, DAMN. Can’t wait to watch more of your reacts and will be sharing the heck out of them in our groups. Thanks for investing your time on this ❤️

This has by far been my favorite review. As a reader on my 4th reread of the series, it is so much fun seeing your first time reactions to the story. Just for clarification the braiding ceremony you saw before Nynaeve pushed Egwene into the river was to celebrate her coming of age as a woman vs a child.
The shape those sheep carcasses make, it's like a tear drop, keep an eye out for that symbol. Btw I love love love the review man I was crackin up, you got yourself a new 🇦🇺 subscriber and sharer 👍🏽 can't wait for the next ep review drop

Re: Perrin's wife... It's possible what was going on there was a recent miscarriage. In the first shot of them embracing, it almost looks like she's pregnant, but not in later shots, so it plants that idea. And in that scene, we learn she's being withdrawn and self-isolating (didn't participate in the big Women's Circle event), and that she's upset about something. We see there's a tension in their relationship right now, but also that she still loves him. We see them light a candle together at the river. A recent miscarriage fits all those hints.
What? She was visibly pregnant. Perrin placed his hands on her belly. The implication was clear. The invention of a wife for Perrin is the worst thing about the series so far, to me. Like - not everyone needs to experience trauma to have feelings.
@@mindyross8009 the issue with Perrin is he was always going to be a difficult--perhaps the most difficult--to adapt especially in the first books of the series due to the nature of his character and character development. They had to show something that would explain why he acts the way he acts. I think killing his wife who he was supposed to protect does just that. But that's just my two cents.

Moiraine and Lan are surprised the Inn has a communal bathing tub because that is a Borderlands Custom (the North) and this is much farther South than you would typically find anyone who was OK with that behavior. But in the Borderlands bathing in groups is done in essentially public pools like the Romans did. In their case it isn't a romance thing, it a cultural thing. And so far as *wanting* to be the Dragon. Its not really something you *want* as it means you're going to go mad and when the last dragon did he killed his whole family and broke the world.
Oh interesting! I thought the bath tub scene was them saying it’s surprising such a small village would have a bath like that (with like spices and stuff) at all. Because it came about when Lan brought up how the water could be warmer. I like your interpretation as well.
I haven't finished the video yet, so you could very well have resolved your confusion, but I wanted to point out that the Moiraine (the one with the magic) said she wanted to go to this village because she had heard of 4 20yo that fit the description but she didn't know which. At the end right before they leave, she says that the trollocs are after those 4 and would go wherever they were, therefore they had to leave home or else the village would be attacked again. I am glad you enjoyed it and you guys are hilarious.

Really enjoyed your reaction. I think this is my fave nonreader reaction so far. You guys get really invested while watching and are very expressive which made it very entertaining. And some of the things you picked up on were either spot on or very close to it.
To clarify on the braiding ceremony for Egwene (girl dumped in the river), that was essentially just a coming-of-age ceremony for women, and also her joining the Women's Circle. The way this village, and many others, work is that there is a male ruling body and an equal women's ruling body, which is called the women's circle, so she basically joined the town counsel. Also she didn't get any powers from the river, Nynaeve told her when she pushed her to trust the water and relax instead of fighting it, which is actually real advice for getting caught in rapids like that. It really works like how they showed it. also a wisdom is a town leader, can listen to the wind, and also treats sick and injured people.

There are little animated shorts available with each episode that shows some of the lore and backstory. For those that have not read the books, I would say that the shorts are required viewing.
This will trip you out! The 3 of you exist in this world! This isn't an old medieval setting. This is our post-apocalyptic future. We all get spinned back into the wheel.
About the intro with the guy. So yes you will see him more in further episodes. The Showrunner and writer said that the character was one of his faves so he decided to just flesh out that character a bit more than what's in the books. So there are both men and women who can channel, who can use magic. But a long time ago an event happened which made the magic that men use tainted by the Dark one. So now, any man who can channel magic is doomed to go mad and crazy just like the guy who thought he saw a man who wasn't there. And now that you know what Moiraine could do with throwing fireballs, call lightning or just split a guy in two, you can understand that you don't want someone who can do all that run around thinking everyone is out to get them, or think people are attacking them! So the job of those Red sisters is to track down any man who can use magic and block their ability to use magic (or if need be, outright kill them). Magic is very addictive though so suddenly being locked out from it can drive a man insane. Imagine a heroin addict that can constantly see a bag of heroin but cannot grab it.

Re: Perrin's wife... It's possible what was going on there was a recent miscarriage. In the first shot of them embracing, it almost looks like she's pregnant, but not in later shots, so it plants that idea. And in that scene, we learn she's being withdrawn and self-isolating (didn't participate in the big Women's Circle event), and that she's upset about something. We see there's a tension in their relationship right now, but also that she still loves him. We see them light a candle together at the river. A recent miscarriage fits all those hints.
I think she is dark friend. Look how she hold hummer at in the end. She was gonna kill him
What? She was visibly pregnant. Perrin placed his hands on her belly. The implication was clear.
The invention of a wife for Perrin is the worst thing about the series so far, to me. Like - not everyone needs to experience trauma to have feelings.
@@mindyross8009 the issue with Perrin is he was always going to be a difficult--perhaps the most difficult--to adapt especially in the first books of the series due to the nature of his character and character development. They had to show something that would explain why he acts the way he acts. I think killing his wife who he was supposed to protect does just that. But that's just my two cents.
@@mindyross8009 She would still look pregnant for some time afterwards, depending on how far along she was. It might even have been a stillbirth.

Moiraine and Lan are surprised the Inn has a communal bathing tub because that is a Borderlands Custom (the North) and this is much farther South than you would typically find anyone who was OK with that behavior. But in the Borderlands bathing in groups is done in essentially public pools like the Romans did. In their case it isn't a romance thing, it a cultural thing.
And so far as *wanting* to be the Dragon. Its not really something you *want* as it means you're going to go mad and when the last dragon did he killed his whole family and broke the world.
Oh interesting! I thought the bath tub scene was them saying it’s surprising such a small village would have a bath like that (with like spices and stuff) at all. Because it came about when Lan brought up how the water could be warmer. I like your interpretation as well.

I haven't finished the video yet, so you could very well have resolved your confusion, but I wanted to point out that the Moiraine (the one with the magic) said she wanted to go to this village because she had heard of 4 20yo that fit the description but she didn't know which. At the end right before they leave, she says that the trollocs are after those 4 and would go wherever they were, therefore they had to leave home or else the village would be attacked again. I am glad you enjoyed it and you guys are hilarious.

Really enjoyed your reaction. I think this is my fave nonreader reaction so far. You guys get really invested while watching and are very expressive which made it very entertaining. And some of the things you picked up on were either spot on or very close to it.
To clarify on the braiding ceremony for Egwene (girl dumped in the river), that was essentially just a coming-of-age ceremony for women, and also her joining the Women's Circle. The way this village, and many others, work is that there is a male ruling body and an equal women's ruling body, which is called the women's circle, so she basically joined the town counsel. Also she didn't get any powers from the river, Nynaeve told her when she pushed her to trust the water and relax instead of fighting it, which is actually real advice for getting caught in rapids like that. It really works like how they showed it.
also a wisdom is a town leader, can listen to the wind, and also treats sick and injured people.

Most of the 90 million book readers were male. The first season emphasizes the strong female characters but there are a lot of bad ass men as well.

About the intro with the guy.
So yes you will see him more in further episodes. The Showrunner and writer said that the character was one of his faves so he decided to just flesh out that character a bit more than what's in the books.
So there are both men and women who can channel, who can use magic. But a long time ago an event happened which made the magic that men use tainted by the Dark one. So now, any man who can channel magic is doomed to go mad and crazy just like the guy who thought he saw a man who wasn't there. And now that you know what Moiraine could do with throwing fireballs, call lightning or just split a guy in two, you can understand that you don't want someone who can do all that run around thinking everyone is out to get them, or think people are attacking them!
So the job of those Red sisters is to track down any man who can use magic and block their ability to use magic (or if need be, outright kill them). Magic is very addictive though so suddenly being locked out from it can drive a man insane. Imagine a heroin addict that can constantly see a bag of heroin but cannot grab it.
