- Checking off a bucket list moment, the Model Train Outsider goes for a quick swim in the Tasman Sea.
I know I am not posting train-related stuff, but....

Notes:
1. The Air temp was 58F/14.4C and the water temp was 68F/20C
2. I was supposed to just wade out a bit, but decided to take a dive, as Joyce predicts in the video.
3. There was a small riptide just up the beach and we could not risk going further out than about thigh-waist deep at this location. It was safe to do, and we had supervision.
4. I dove into the waves toward the shore, rather into them while heading out.
The Outsider makes his version of Baywatch 😂🏊♂. Good to see you ticked another thing off your bucket watch- Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏
Well, it might have been Baywatch if Joyce would have come with me, but she was not remotely going to join in... it was too nippily... I mean nippy. lol
Awesome love the ocean 🌊👍🏻😍👋🏻💯👌🥰😀🤗
As I do now, too.
As graceful as a sealion. Well done old boy. Awesome.
More like a clumsy walrus, especially on the second dive... but I did not trust the water to go further out.
So happy you for guys. 😊❤
Thank you!
Awesome Anthony! Glad u guys are having a great time 😊
We are! Thanks for checking in!
Looks like you're having an amazing time enjoy!
It's been amazing!
That was really cool! (Dave).
Wish I could have stayed longer, but it was a spur of the moment event before we headed off to the store.
Enjoy. My kids did the same thing when we were in Australia, on the Gold Coast one August. The water temp was about 60, which is freezing for Australians but we summer on Cape Cod where the summer time water temp is generally below 60 degrees. My kids had a ball and my cousins were on the dunes wearing ski jackets shaking their heads. They are definitely my kids as I swam for a Sydney winter swimming team: the Coogie huskies, we swam against the Bondi Icebergs
I was quite a good swimmer in my youth, and probably still am, although shoulder problems limit some things.
look like you have good trip on keep up the good vids thanks lee
Thanks 👍
Glad you were able to have a dip regards Greg
A very special moment, as silly as it may sound.
That was great to see you get in the water Anthony ... down my way in western vic. the water is even cold in summer...
I was so thrilled to go in. The second dive was a flop as I hit a high part of underwater beach.
Watch the sharks ! 😄🦈 Glad you enjoyed it ! UK ocean full of sewage sadly !
No sharks, but a pod of whales was in the area further out and heading up the cost.
love it! i woulda been right there with ya Anthony :)
Sadly, I just could not talk Joyce into joining me.
I would have......... held your glasses, lol
LoL. It was very cool, and not likely to find any sharks there, especially this time of year.
Brilliant! You looked like you were doing a Reggie Perrin at first.
Nope, no fantasies here... all real (no faking a self-harm, either). I had intended to just walk non-stop into the waves, catch a big one and swim back. When I got to the water, I felt the sand pulling away (hints of an undertow) and a strong pull at my feet, so I elected to proceed carefully, and only waist deep at most once I found a safe section. I also elected to dive toward shore rather than into a wave.
At least now you can say that you've been in the Tasman Sea.
Good for you.
Happy that you're enjoying your stay in The Land of Aus.
Indeed. I will count it as "Ocean" as it is still the same water as the ocean 20 miles north. lol
@@ModelTrainOutsider hence my confusion with the Pacific Ocean the other day.
Same coast...
Same water... 😅
Exactly! @@monsvillerailways5736
That’s pretty brazen of you MR Dodge. That’s Australia 🇦🇺 Those waters are infested with great white sharks.Glad you made it in and out,Before the shark Train came. The sharks down their are about the same length of CSX ES44.Just kidding around.Enjoy your travel down under. And watch out for Kangaroos.
Hi, Arthur! Tiger Sharks are more likely here... and hammerheads, but we were safe! Surfers were further out offering a more appetizing taste to the sharks. lol
Your safe as long as roy scheider not on the beach or a near by boat
LoL... I would be more worried if there was a Hal Holbrook executive walking around saying, "this is our busiest weekend, we have to keep the beaches open!"
