    George, you had a ‘crawl’ go by about designers. It mentioned the Eames Brothers. Charles Eames was married to Ray Eames, a husband and wife team, not brothers.

    Great video George. You have inspired me to visit The Henry Ford Museum again. I live in the area so it’s easy for me to get to. The next time you are in the area, consider visiting Pewabic pottery if you haven’t already done so. They have tours. You would like it.

      Oh it’s on my list! There’s actually a ton of good Antique and vintage attractions and shopping in Detroit area

    • @richkroberts
      @richkroberts 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheAntiqueNomad There are a number of good antique stores and malls in the area. For someone like yourself who is looking to resell, I would recommend the Junque Shop Antique store in Detroit. Great deals to be had. It’s not in a good area, but I go there all the time. Don’t be scared off. 🙂

    My parents had an Edsel station wagon around 1960. The back glass rolled down. We were at the drive-in, watching cartoons on the other screen, and my little sister fell out. She scraped the skin off her nose, and my parents rushed to the emergency room. I was mad at her because we had to leave, but after she was patched up, we went back to the drive-in.

      That’s right the rear roll down window! They kept that in the Mercury for a few years, seemed like a good idea but apparently not

    Neat that your grandfather served in the House, and along with your father's military service in the Navy and your own fascinating story, you, George, have great subject matter for a second book!! On a different subject, I regret that my barn finds never turned 40 bucks into $4,000. Damn.

    George! I love watching your videos and learn so much from you. Today, i researched a stoneware cat that i picked up and found out it's by Pottery Craft. So then i had to research Pottery Craft and was directed straight to your book. :)

    I used to work for an agency that produced the membership magazine for the AA in the U.K. (Automobile Association) formed in 1905 and they have a museum associated with early motoring They were/ are famous for their maps and route planning that my dad and I would pore over before our trips to Europe in 1970s Their key thing is roadside assistance and in the early days patrols - a surprising number of whom were women - used to drive round on motorcycles and they would salute members recognisable from bumper membership badges They would also try an alert members to speed traps ahead - and they got severely reprimanded for this so it developed that if a patrol very obviously DIDNT salute you then there was a speed trap !
    The museum is fascinating and has a whole section on continental travel - no car ferries in those days and offered help in getting your car freighted abroad - ah to be a fabulously rich car owner in the 1920s

      That's funny to hear about the speed traps! I'm very curious to see the AA UK museum when I eventually can get to England, it sounds right up my alley

      Yes, he was admin assistant to a congressman who died in office, they decided my Grandfather was the only one who knew enough about what was going on to replace him on the ballot at the last minute. He defied the odds and won office
