  • PIP is broken down into sections and preparing food might be relevant for you if you suffer from chronic illness, for example:
    - Depression
    - Anxiety
    - PTSD
    - OCD
    - Eating disorders
    - Dyslexia (not sure if this counts as mental health - sorry if I categorized this wrongly)
    - ADHD
    ⏱ Timestamps
    00:00 Intro
00:21 Do you score points for supervision and assistance regarding preparing food?
02:10 Are you prompted to prepare food?
07:06 Are you able to SAFELY, CONSISTENTLY and RELIABLY prepare food? (& important info)

    WHO AM I:
My name is Charlie and I am disabled. I live with chronic illness, I have a severe form of Psoriatic Arthritis and its crap! I am in pain all the time and always battling fatigue. BUT, I will not let it win. I love to learn and to laugh (even though it hurts my arthritic rib cage LOL). You will often see Ollie (she) my black Labrador. She is currently my trainee assistance dog! We are together, literally ALL the time.
As there are a number of awful people who target us - the vulnerable - here is a link to my personal LinkedIn account. You can literally see the past 25+yrs of my career, people who have recommended me (as a Logistician as Disability Specialist is very new for me).

Hi Charlie. I had my video pip assessment today. It lasted about 75 minutes. Nice lady. I was surprised because some of the questions I expected she didn’t ask. I told her I was voice recording. She came out with the usual threatening bit at the beginning.
I tood her I only shop once weekly and due to fear of having a seizure I only strip wash and change my main clothes once weekly. I have back trouble now too but I walk normal pace. I get the bus to go shopping only a few stops, which she noted. Im convinced I scored 8-12 points, possibly more , because I also told her my oldest son visits once a week to help. Obviously there are things I can do , but I only manage 3 1/2 hours sleep daily.
She asked if the neurologist said my fatigue is related to my epilepsy, to which I replied I studied nursing for 2 years and her as a health professional assessing me will know that Epilepsy is correlated to Chronic Fatigue.
I used some really good KEY words and I wasn’t embarrassed to talk about my incontinence nor the fact Im also too tired to have a bath and that’s why I have a strip wash.
Want to thank you for your tips.
I will let you know how I get on.

Hi Charlie it’s very refreshing to hear your knowledge on the subject. I currently receive the standard rate of pip but was prescribed anti depressants 3 months ago which wasn’t part of my pip. How do I go about letting them know about this new condition and is it worth the hassle? Anyone’s advice will be greatly appreciated Thank you

Hi Charlie. Ive had my pip assessment brought forward to 5/3/24. It was at 9am on 11/3 but I called them to tell them due to my fatigue so they changed time to 11-15 which works better for me.
Im telling them im recording it.
It is an online assessment and Ive got my neck aids and magnetic back aid to show them, plus my food containers I put meals away in.
Im telling them some days im too tired so i order takeaways, which is true.
What are my chances of the award please? This doesn’t include my incontinence problems and setting my alarm to remind me to take my meds.
Im hoping to get at least 12 points

I don't think the post are losing the mail, I think it is internal to DWP. I've also had a number of forms go missing that were sent via the Job Centre (I thought it would be better than the post at the time!). Recorded delivery is the only way I use these days. I've not had a successful PIP claim because I have a terrible problem with phones and tend to just say what I need to to end the call as soon as I can. Capita don't like dealing with me. I asked to have the call recorded the last time but they never sent me the recording, and just ignored my emails after the call. I would rather go without PIP than go through all that again. I have an advocate who will help me next time, if I apply again. She thinks I should.

Don't take it personally.... which I know is an oxymoron... but PIP / DWP is a business first and foremost ...
They work backwards from most other businesses.... they try to minimise the number of customers they have on the books. And someone, somewhere figured out that a high percentage of applicants give up and stop applying when they receive a rejection letter... and so that became the business model... "reject practically everyone in the first instance for as many applications as possible = save a fortune"...
It's wrong on so many levels.... but it is the way it is... we just have to deal with it... stick with the process and try not to take it too personally... which I know is hard, but application and refusal are just step 1
      Good luck 👍
