Transporting, Baiting, & Setting a Hog Trap!

- Heres a video of me and dad transporting, baiting, and setting a hog trap. This video was made a few weeks ago (sorry I’m late y’all!) and since then we have caught over 10 hogs from the trap. I was unable to get footage for a TH-cam video before we left for Kansas and had to set it off while we’re gone, but if you visit dad’s Instagram page @jeffbarron70 you’ll see some of the hogs from the trap! I’ll get more videos on hog trapping, the ones we catch, and how to build them when I can!

As a father and grandfather, I really enjoy watching you and your father! You're a great example of a father-daughter doing things together they love! As a life long New Englander, everything in this clip was new to me. The shovel with the holes in it has me scratching my head. I do notice how well built and squared away the trap is.... Jeff, you are an inspiration!
The Shovel is for digging in heavy wet clay soils. Helps break the suction that otherwise makes it hard to get the dirt off.
I'll tell you what, I could watch this lady all day long she is one of a kind

Great video with a gorgeously outfitted host! I’ve got a real problem with hogs here in North Texas; they recently tore up a 2 acre food plot for deer before the seed even germinated, so I have declared war! Moving a trap in next week and will set it up like this one. Thanks again.

Slide trap off truck and stand on end. Pull truck forward eight feet. Lay trap down. Method two. Load trap on truck upside down. Slide trap out end side up, pull down in place no need to move truck. I Love these videos Mr and Ms Barron!

Really like that trigger you put together. I was a combat engineer in Nam and put many nasty surprises together there. Sure wish I knew of this trigger of yours, it would have solved a problem or two back then.

We have to have an opening in the top of our hog traps here in Louisiana. Just in case a bear gets in, it has a way to get out. Fun to watch the 2 of you setting it though. I really like the trigger your dad uses.

This is so interesting and educational for me. You guys have such interesting content! You need your own show on TV! It is so much better than anything on any network. Hannah is a natural and dad is the perfect companion. You are both experts and this has nothing to do with Hannah’s looks. She is highly intelligent and a true expert at what she does. It actually pisses me off with all the comments about her looks. It may get the first clicks but looks like that are a dime a dozen. She has more and could do this regardless of what she looks like. You go girl!
Quiet. LOL Sometimes it is harder to not make noise than it is to make noise. I like the way the trigger works. Simple but very effective.

Alot of men around here have built traps but I see now they don't know how to set em. Now I have a secret. Lol. Hannah it does me good to see there's at least one man out there that don't feel like he has to mark himself up with ink to be a man. Same for you as a young lady. That's a first for me. Never seen hog trap made from wood. Guess when you work with wood all things are made with it. Always just stood one on its end when getting it out of truck. Drive off and let down. Souring the corn good way to keep the deer out of trap. Wonder if the sweet smelling bait will negate that?

Howdy Hannah from Australia ! Great to see you do so much stuff with you Dad. In Australia our pig traps have no floor. We just stake them down good. Thats a great trigger system. All the best for 2020.
You may have harder dirt down under.
If you don't have a floor or at least rooter bars on your traps here, the pigs will dig out under the side
@@ClintEastwoodenDoors Hi Mate. Correct, the ground can be like concrete, bit like most of our timber, be less hassle for the pig to die than dig.....
Get you a couple extra 2x6 8 ft long to let that trap slide down and save that shovel handle
Have you thought of some PVC pipe to use as rollers to move the trap around easier? Just a thought. Keep up the good work.

My father and uncles used to kill pigs for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years when we were kids for the family dinners. Pigs that my grandparents used to raise, with no chemicals or things that can't be pronounced. To see all those hogs your family catches just brings back memories of before we moved to the city and just got our meat from the supermarket.
