  • If you have a Solar powered Seiko Watch from 2017 or later and you have a problem with the watch suddenly stopping then this could help you. When the battery starts to fail in these watches the seconds hand will start to tick twice every other second. But when the movement has a binding issue the seconds hand will just come to a stop at random. This video will show you how to possibly fix that problem.

    Wow, my Seiko V158-OADO was stopping just like yours and never did take 2 second jumps. I installed a new solar battery, charged it, but it still would stop a few days later. I was never able to find information on the lubrication points until I saw your video. I lubed it with watch oil and now it runs like new. I reinstalled the original battery and it still runs like new. I have another V158 Seiko and I will lube it to prevent future problems. Great video, thank you.🙂

    I bought two solar watches (Seiko SNE049 & SNE107) a couple years back. About a year and half later, the SNE049 started to stop and go. Eventually, it just stopped altogether even while exposed to plenty of sunlight. I was pissed at having to throw it away since serving was going to cost more than the watch. Wish I'd known about this and how to remedy it. The SNE107 still runs fine though.

    I have an eight year old Seiko SNE102 with the V158 movement that was stopping during the day/date change. I changed the solar battery but it did not make a difference. I was about to retire the watch when I saw this video. I followed the lubrication instructions and the problem went away. Thank you so much for the information.

    Brilliant! Manage to fix a Seiko SNE498 (V157 movement) by following your tutorial. Other ways have to send it to Seiko and get it repaired for £110!

    Great video, thanks for the lubrication instructions. Have you ever tried to remove the dial on a solar Seiko? I'm about to start a project but can't find any info on dial removal.

    Thanks. I have a V158 watch and it stopped working for several weeks which I put down to the battery/capacitor runnning out of charge, but it started working again a few weeks later. It has been ok for a couple of years now but I might try your method.

      If the movement has a low battery it'll tick twice every other second. If it has the issue mine had it'll just stop randomly.

    Most useful and informative, mahalo! Have my Dads solar and it is ticking twice as you described. As in the below do you recommend a lubricant?

      If it's working fine just charge it.

    Did you take apart the movement to oil it or simply put the oil in the places you pointed to?

    • @RobertNES816
      @RobertNES816  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just put oil in the places I showed. I don't think these movements are actually serviceable.

    I have one of these. What has happened is, the stem can be removed without any resistance with the back still on and the watch has stopped even though it has been in daylight every day. Do you think it is something to do with what you are saying. If so what lubricant do you suggest as the amount I would use is miniscule?

    nice one for showing these instructions thanks.I got one as a gift a few days ago, but i need to replace the crystal, so that means taking out the movement, not sure where to press to get the crown out though or if there is a button or another way, i have seen on other dive watches like the seiko v158 oaeo , there is a dimple somewhere at the end of an arm.

    I have a SNE245. V158-0AE0 and it’ll move with sunlight charge, but will stop immediately out of the sun. Thoughts?

    • @RobertNES816
      @RobertNES816  ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it doing 2 ticks every other Second when it's in the sun? If so that means the battery is just dead.
      If it just starts to tick once in the sun then it's probably in need of lubrication.
      With mine when they were locking up from friction they'd only work normally in the sun. Although sometimes they would still stop.

    Nice video, I have the exact one on the right with the canvas band, never had a problem with it stopping but it doesn't keep track of the days/date, any idea or insights please?

    • @RobertNES816
      @RobertNES816  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably because you're not setting it correctly. The date changes every 24hrs so your have to set the time up accordingly. When you set the time in the morning turn the crown so the hands, go once around and if it doesn't change that's "am" if you go once around and it doss change then that's "pm" .
      Also never adjust the date between 9 and 3 o'clock because that will damage the movement.

      Hi Sr thanks very much for the vid.@@RobertNES816 Do you think using a tiny bit of W_D-4O could go well ? as a lub, it is thin enough, but unsure if long lasting, or most important, safe for the mechanism
