No worries Nell. Please take care of life and we'll be here when you have time to share something interesting in your shop. Thanks for proving SS won't weld AL. I've never tried that before, but now I know what the attempt looks like when I get hurried and mistakenly grab the wrong rod 😉
Sorry Joel, thought I'd replied. I'm not safe running machines the moment but promise to get back at it as soon as I can !! Thanks for coming by, Cheers Neil
Hi Matt ! Hope the idea helps you ! That's what I do, come up with ideas to help others. Thanks so much for the kind comment and watching. Cheers Neil 😊
Hi David, really appreciate you dropping by and also for the sub ! I'm struggling with mobility at the moment but hope soon to get back in the workshop and get some more videos out there. Olly is a great guy and I was so pleased when he came to visit. All the very best, Neil
Gday Neil, I really hope everything is ok there, the indexing ring for the rotary table is a brilliant idea and showing mistakes is a good thing in my opinion, we are all only human, Cheers
Hi Matty, I'm ok mate. I've got a brain disease that puts me out of action for months at a time. It's like a bad tempered dog. Its Ok most of the time but bites and wont let go when you're not expecting it.
Neil great to see you. Some clever items there. Likewise, I have been a little slow with content lately. I will explain shortly in an upcoming video. All the best Your pal Dan
That was great, really nice bracket for the indicator. I found you through my brother Dean at Retromeccanica. I thought I was subscribed but I wasn't, rectified that now. I just put up a film about motorising a rotary table with an Arduino that may be of interest to you. Take care my friend. Ps You were lucky to be visited by the Shed Dweller Paul, I think he is fantastic.
Hi Carl, sorry for the delay in replying, not getting notifications about comments again. Will go have a look at your video now. Sounds very interesting. The Shed Dweller is amazing. Poor bugger is having a rough time at the moment but hes made of rubber and will bounce back 😊. Thanks for the comment and sub. I will obviously do likewise! Cheers Neil...
@@NellsMechanicalManCave Thank you very much indeed, I hope you enjoy it. I really enjoy your content. I hope Paul Hopewell gets better soon. Like I say I was put onto your channel by my brother. I thought I'd subbed to it, but anyway I have now.
Spent my entire working life in different forms of Engineering, but despite the noble efforts of many who tried to teach me the art of welding, it was a totally lost cause. The only associated skill I picked up was braising. I literally lost count of the number of my welding attempts that were recycled via the scrap bin, and not forgetting the countless kilowatt hours of wasted electricity. Practice they say makes perfect LOL... Not in my case... Keep up the great work and consider a system for identifying your welding consumables and you'll probably never repeat that issue :)
Hi Paul, I always had an issue with brazing and to a certain degree, gas welding , I struggle to get it right. The rods are well marked and I can identify them easily just by feel mortally. I just had a brain fart on that day due to a lack of sleep 😴 Thanks for the comment and Watching ! All the best Neil
Interesting mistake on the welding. When you hit the first rod I could hear it was steel. Still, all's well that ends well. On the indicator set up, that's good but you do need to make sure you are at the correct angle to be accurate. (Either 90 to the centre line or parallel to it). Good work, interesting ideas.
That's why I was tapping the rods in the video 😊. It was the sound of the first rod hitting the bench that prompted me to go back and check an hour later! Unfortunately, my though processes are deteriorating due to sleep deprivation. Thanks for watching Ben 😊 Cheers Neil
Hi Neil, good to see another video from you, but don't apologise so much! I like the idea, I think it's really creative to kill the two birds with one stone. I am relatively brain dead, so I would more than likely drive the carriage straight into the indicator and out the other side! The rotary table ring is a nice touch too, I just wind it to 0 on the fixed scale before I set up! 😜

Guage holder.. what a fantastic project/tool!! I shall attempt to copy it.. immediately!.. Good to hear from you. Thanks for taking the time to share.

Some more nifty ideas Neil, take care of yourself.
Best wishes, Dean.
Cheers Dean.
Nice and simple, like me 😊
Now there's a couple of great ideas that I'm going to try.
Cheers
Hi David !
If it makes your life easier, then go for it !
If an idea benefits one person, I've achieved the goal I set for myself 😊
Cheers Neil

Hi Dan !
Hope all is OK?
I'm hoping I can get this back under control. Last time I couldnt leave the house for 3 months.
Take care,
Neil

sorry to hear you have issue's
as for the machining, we're all learning, just on different parts or the never ending curve!!
take care
Kev
Hi Kev !
Well, I suppose I should try and be accurate, Bodge it and Scarper ltd can't wing it forever 🤣🤣
Cheers Neil
Good mod Neil.
Keep well
You know me Dazz, cant leave anything alone 😊😊
Hello Neil,
Something like that would work well on my Unimat lathe... thanks for sharing...
Cheers.
Paul,,
Hi Paul.
Would of been nice to mount it on the chuck side but will still do the job.
Many thanks for Watching!
Cheers Neil

Bloody typical sparky 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Think you have a split personality, theres a mechanical engineer in there trying to get out.
Cheers Nell 👍
Just fit a DRO. A proper one. You will never regret it.
Wish I could Mike.
Perhaps in time when I'm able to earn a living. Soon I hope 😊
