  • In this episode, I am using the Carolina rig to target multiple inshore game fish. I'm letting the Carolina rig and circle hook do the work while I continue fish with other artificial methods. Detailed description of my Carolina rig is in the video. Please subscribe and give a thumbs up if you find this content useful and entertaining. Thanks for watching.

    Another great Video. Glad I found your Channel. Now just got to find a spot around here like you have around the Pamlico. Going to go through ALL your Video's looking for one's like this one and the last showing catching fish from the bank. Not everyone can afford a boat. Thank you for thinking of people like me. God Bless You.

    Man, those hook sets. 👊🏼
    When "Rodney" is doing the work a circle is the way to go for sure. I like the old L042 for flounder, trout and drum when I'm holding the rod but you've definitely reminded me to get back to those circles. I used the Owner Mutu Lights when they first came out and had great success with them.
    Awesome video! And, gracious sakes, I love this Old North State.

    Hahaha What an intro! The struggle is real, bro!
    I was a believer after your other C.R. video. My go to for my wife and kids.
    I'm going to switch to circle hooks for sticker trout this winter. Thanks

    Wow! Incredible nonstop action! Makes me want to get out and try that myself, but you have to know how to find the fish and be able to get to them!

      Thanks Joe! Man I've got a pond with tons of big carp in it. If you are ever traveling thru Eastern NC we need to hook up. I need you to show me how to catch them!

      @@haltysalty7537 I would be happy to! They are big, strong fighters--one if the reasons I enjoy fishing for them!

      @@joescarpadventures Agree! I've caught a few in there and was surprised how strong they are.

      @@haltysalty7537 You can get into them easily with simple methods. Get a few cans of sweet corn. Toss half a can's worth as far out as you can by hand. Load up a #6 or #4 J hook with sweet corn kernels. Add split shot to enable to you to cast the desired distance. Cast out into your baited area, put your inshore spinning outfit into a sand spike, and set the drag so they can run (otherwise you might just lose a rod/reel!). When your line moves off with authority, set the hook and hang on! I've never tried circle hooks with carp; their mouths are like a circular suction cup, so no real corner to pull into. Let me know how it goes!

    Ok, I have to admit I laughed out loud in the first minute or 2 of the Video when you took a plunge. That so reminds me of my luck and my buddy Jared who I fish with. The funniest thing is I have on earphones in the living room watching the videos and scared my wife and daughter to death. Good stuff! Glad it got better for you! Hey man where are you based out of? Town wise.. I am in Creswell.

    I’ve never had any luck with mud minnows in Louisiana or Tx. They much prefer mullet or shrimp.

    Nice bro, how far can you cast them on a Carolina rig when the baits are nose hooked ?

    • @haltysalty7537
      @haltysalty7537  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can't launch them, more like a lob. I can get a few cast before it's time to change bait. Mullet last the longest, they have a tough mouth. With the set up I'm using I can probably cast 30 yards

    You might consider bolting a 2ft section of angle iron to your rod holders

    • @haltysalty7537
      @haltysalty7537  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol, not a bad idea. I tried one recently with the pre-built aluminum angle iron, a big red bent it in half😂

    How loose or tight do you set the drag for Carolina rig? Thanks in advance for all the good tips you give out on all your videos 👍🏻

    • @haltysalty7537
      @haltysalty7537  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I set the drag just like I would if I was casting a lure. Hard enough for the hook to sink in, but not so tight that good fish can't take some drag. Thanks for the support!

    How do you work artificial in current on a Carolina rig? Nice video, thanks

    • @haltysalty7537
      @haltysalty7537  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're referring to like a soft plastic, maybe a gulp behind a Carolina rig, if the bottom is somewhat smooth, you can't just bounce real easy creating some action in the bait. The current will do most the work. However, I'd definitely prefer fresh cut bait or live bait sitting still.

    Quick question, how do you determine which marsh land or grass patches to get on and walk? I kayak fish and want to get out and bank fish sometimes but the entire area is similar to the one in the video.

    • @haltysalty7537
      @haltysalty7537  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. You want to look for some kind of anomaly. A point, a depth change, moving current, maybe all three. Look for live bait moving on the Shoreline, no live bait is usually dead water (no fish around). Also what is the bottom surface-Oyster, grass, root mat, mud are usually better than straight sand. Hope this helps.

    What length and size rod and reel do you use for your set up when using a Carolina rig ? A 7’6 medium heavy ? , medium?

    • @haltysalty7537
      @haltysalty7537  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      7 or 7'6" both work good. Medium heavy works pretty good. I like a rod with "fast" action. Pretty much any rod you would use for trout or redfish works well for carolina rigging. Thanks

      You could use a twenty foot telephone pole with a ten ton winch to reel them in .

      I typically use 40lb mono on my Carolina Rigs in the areas I fish.

    What hooks were you using?

    • @haltysalty7537
      @haltysalty7537  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      gamakatsu 1/0 and 2/0 circle hooks. If the live baits are smaller go with 1/0, bigger go with 2/0
