I'm learning on Bass. I want to learn Combustion, Electric Red, Bleed, Lethargica, and Obzen and play them as one piece. I've already learned Lethargica. The one thing I've learned is that Meshuggah is cheese masters and their songs are simple but written in a way that makes them seem insane
I started with Lethargica. i'm at the point where I can comfortably play 100% with the song but I'm doubting right now whether I can play it from memory. The 'verses' throw me off when trying to count them. I'm going to learn ER > Obzen > Combustion > Bleed
Honestly the note to finish with an upstroke unlocked this for me. Now I’m doing it that way I cannot understand why I was trying to do it the other way - I was almost there on speed but it was effortful and hard to maintain endurance. Piece of cake with the upstroke by comparison

This video helped me a lot! It also helped me for plectrum gallops kinda and other similar
I found out practicing this riff that I prefer starting the main riff triplet on the upstroke and finishing it on downstroke. I don't know why but switching the first stroke and after that just alternating like in video is much much easier to me.
@@TheImprovisations When a guitarist says "triplets" in the context of a riff like this, they are always talking about gallops. Reverse gallops like in this song or Raining Blood or Battery are notes played in groups of 3 as 32 32 16 notes, regular/"foward" gallops are 16 32 32.

Can you play it full speed? I see you have a circular movement of right hand pick, which makes it very difficult to play like that. If you look at original Meshuggah's session video, they play it with a straight wrist motion. I found it much more stable and powerful. I've also been playing with a circular movement, and have to learn the new way of doing that.

I find as I'm trying to learn this that I really emphasize the first downstroke to help me keep time. However, I almost feel like that's sacrificing some of the speed as I'm overexerting my wrist. Should I keep all the notes at the same emphasis and be more relaxed to help me get the riff up to speed?
Hello. I tried both. I prefer the relaxed way, even if the 1st note "punch" can help. Maybe you can alternate between both when you feel you're losing speed or stamina? Thanks for watching and your comment.

You're very welcome bro! Don't hesitate to subscribe, it means a lot to me! As for the EMGs... meh... I don't like them... they are too fizzy in the high end. Try to lower the gain on your amp settings or plugin. Meshuggah - Bleed lesson part.2 is also available in the same channel! ;)
Push the mids hard, turn bass and gain down and amp presence up. Treble wherever it starts to bite and articulate. Meshuggah use Lundgren pickups which are super tight and punchy for single string rhythms but they separate tones hard and don't sound as buttery thick and delicious for chords like EMG'S will. Everything is a compromise.
Can you tell me about your M80M guitar? I want to order one but a little suspicious of the build quality since its Indonesian. Hows the fretwork? Is it smooth and even and not sticking out of the fretboard? Hows the sustain. Does it keep tuning well? How low can you set the action? Overall, does it feel like a quality guitar?

Actually I can't answer you because I never had to touch the trussrods. The neck NEVER moved! I know there are 2 titanium truss rods. I didn't notice a particular key. Anyways, every "goodies" is included (solid gig bag also). I tell you, if the QC is good, this is the BEST 8 strings you'd put your fingers on ;) Ask your shop to check it before they send it.
