Read now the apartments are about 325 square feet with 3 rooms. 10 family members each building. They were introduced to gas lights and running water in their apartments. Middle class felt bad because of how bad the immigrants conditions were. Hopefully that helped with your work (NOW SUBSCRIBE)
Thank-you. My father lived in a tenement in Harlem during the 1900’s. He said his mother would kill the rats with a broom, and the bathroom was shared by all down the hall. He also had asthma and the treatment was to sit outside on the roof.
There were (are) three privies out in the back yard. Where the pump for drinking water was also located. No piped water to the "apartments". It's one of the "must sees' in NYC and indicates how far living conditions can progress. Especially when living on the Lower East Side had significantly different connotations.

Now the rents are so high people can't afford them and living in cars
who would watch this of their own volition? of course we are all here because of school, its just fact.
I'm watching of my own volition.
I'm here because I was looking for it. Some of us are interested because it's part of our history.
I bet its disappointing to them to know that majority of the people here are here because of school and not because they wanted to watch it
Now with section 8 a single mom with three kids lives in a 1500 square foot house :/
