The fact is, many southern Canadians, especially people from Toronto, do not speak like that at all. That accent is more profound in Atlantic Canada and more north. That being said, on a sketch tv show, Americans need to emphasize the fact that it is a CANADIAN newscast and do so with the accent, albeit politically incorrect and false.
