Are the Piri peppers similar to that of Peri peppers used in Nando's Peri Peri sauce? I love the South African/Mozambique flavors! Thanks for all of your recipes and inspiration.
Yes and the sauce is based off using the African Birdseye Chile but I sub out for Sambal for a close flavor profile and ease of most folks finding it. Such a fun recipe to play around with. Thanks for watching🤙🏽
Chef, noticed that you used a garlic chili paste but ingredients just list chili paste. I think I might use some of your technique to make chicken satay as well.
Awesome. Yep, use garlic chili paste, chili paste, sambal...... it all replicates the African Birds eye chili, sooo good. Great method for satay for sure. Thanks heaps for watching my friend 🎯🤙🏽
Made these for a Christmas party. We had so much food. The first thing gone…piri-piri. My friends requested them again for Christmas party 2.0. I serve with mini pitas and a yoghurt garlic sauce.
Great recipe but the tenders are usually breasts and those dry out a bit. Next time I might use thigh/leg cut into skewered chunks. Stays juicier and more tender. The marinade is delicious and that glaze at the end really cuts through the chili paste, calms it down and creates a delayed effect taste experience: citrus at first that is followed by an afterburner. Nice…Thanks for posting.
The African birds eye chilies can be hard for a lot of folks to find. Always better when you have them but the garlic chili sauce is a great substitution for a lot of folks at home. Good eye Gee⭐🤙🏽 Happy Grilling
@@ChefEricGephart maybe I’m lucky that I live in the southwest but here both the Hispanic and Asian markets carry. Not to mention almost every regular supermarket has Nando’s Piri Piri sauce (from South Africa) in the hot sauce isle. 🌶
Question: How do you keep your neighbours at bay? Suggestion: Yesterday I made a steak pizza. Maybe you find time to show us how you would elevate a pizza with a steak.
Ha, I pay the neighbors with food not to mow their grass while we shoot😂 Sounds like you have thr elevated pizza down! Check the KJ Instagram for yesterday's live pizza class🤙🏽
Love this dish for it's simplicity and big bold flavor.
That stack method is a "grill-estate" life saver🎯

How important is it to add oil to emulsify with the marinade? Can it be added just at the beginning?
Hi Eric, would this recipe work with sparer ribs etc. Looks great!
Would Thai Kitchen, Curry Paste Red, work?
Must be the best job on earth being your camera man. Looks tasty.

Is there a good source for a Piri Piri paste rather than the good ole Viet version you used? LOL, certainly a nuance lost on my two teens.
Order or grow African birds eye chili's and you will be good to go🤙🏽
