    I am a wildlife photographer and bought this 70-350 to go with my new A6700 as a lightweight walk-about setup and to take when out when with the family, or away on business. I also take as a backup to my Sony A1 and 400 F2.8GM when on wildlife trip. I am very impressed by both the A6700 and the 70-350 - produces great results even when compared to my top of the line full-frame gear which costs 10x the amount. I would highly recommend the A6700 and 70-350 to anyone into wildlife or sports photography

      I completely agree and was shocked at both the lens and the body in quality.

      Can the lens perform with handheld and low light though? I struggle to capture fast moving birds and forest interiors which is often darker.

    • @Jonathantuba
      @Jonathantuba ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@akirahojo2 can handle as well as any F6.3 lens, can in poor light. For fast moving birds use at least 1/2000 of a second.

    Very happy with my 70-350mm on my a6600. Tac sharp and fast. All my Sony lenses are outstanding.

    Just brought a bundle, a6700 + the 70-350 for 1949€, tax included. That is quite a bargain here in Germany. I'm looking forward to my next travels. In addition with the sigma 18-50 this will be my lightweight travel setup

      The a6700 itself continues to amaze me! I just got back messing around with it at the beach and it will even handle birds in flight decently. Glad you got a good deal.

    Also happy with 70-350, if it only could do magnification ratio at least 0.3x instead of only 0.2x, it would be superb. AF works even better than with 200-600. Sharpness @ 350 isn't outstanding, but it is good for its super compact size/weight.

    It’s amazing how sharp and he modern lenses are.

    • @MatthewCuda
      @MatthewCuda  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most new glass does tend to be much sharper than they were only 6 years ago. Part of that is due to the advances in lens design and part of it is because they had to make better glass to support the new camera resolutions.

    I went to see the Elk for the first time last year. That road in is a little sketchy. I only took my 70-200. It wasn’t long enough for most of the day. This would have been ideal.

    • @MatthewCuda
      @MatthewCuda  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I agree, the 70-200 is a bit on the short side for Cataloochee elk. I always liked the 70-200, but I find that I almost never used it for wildlife.

    I have both Sony A6600 and A6700, I recommend this lens if you are shooting from a long distance. For short to medium distance the 70mm is a bit too long for me. For me, for a general walk-around lens would be a Sony 18-135 or 18-200. These 2 lenses are specifically designed for APS-C cameras which are lighter, shorter, and less expensive than their FX cousins because the image circle is smaller. I like zoom lenses

  • @EmotionalTrance

    Maybe a noob question, I want to buy the Sony 70-350mm is the equivalent 70-350, on the A6700 or x 1.5? It's an aps-c camera lens so I hope it is 70mm on the wide.

    • @MatthewCuda
      @MatthewCuda  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The 1.5x crop factor still applies. The reason it is an APS-C lens is because the lens itself is designed for an APS-C camera and thus it is typically less expensive to make. There is some misinformation on the net in this regard. So effectively the 350 becomes 525. The focal length of a lens is never changes and the crop factor is always applied.

    Good for moon photography? Has anyone used it for that?

    • @MatthewCuda
      @MatthewCuda  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have not tried it for that, but I don't see any reason it wouldn't be. The effective focal length would be 525mm. Depending on what type of moon photography you want to do, it still would need a fairly good crop. If it is part of a scene with clouds, no problem. If you want shots of the craters, you would need a heavier crop.

    • @MatthewCuda
      @MatthewCuda  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MGTHUNDER Yes, this is designed for crop sensor camera such as the a6700. You would have to go into crop mode to use it and thus you would lose a significant amount of pixels cropped away.
