Lyrics:
Seven times I left the world in heresy,
I would've notice, but I killed it in my sleep,
And it took you seven glances just to notice me,
I'm not quiet, I'm not broken, but it's all a mystery
Oh nobody knows, how long I've been waiting for death
Nobody knows, how long I've been waiting for death
This night ain't any different from the other ones you've seen,
A pretty girl in plastic and abandoned courtesy,
And this heart no it ain't broken, I noticed that last night,
As you walked out of the bar, with a man on your side
Oh this whiskey, every day and every night,
Oh these pills, every day and every night,
Make me feel, like I'm running out of light,
Like I'm running out of light, and state of mind
Well I packed my pipe with rum,
and I only left you some,
So we got no time to waste,
Cause' I ain't living if I ain't drunk
Oh nobody knows, how long I've been waiting for death
Nobody knows, how long I've been waiting for death
So we got some troubled times at last in Roanoke,
I spent my summers there but I'm not meant to call it home,
And for the record I was just about to run away from home,
But these jeans is gritted through, and this mind ain't meant to roam
And you said you can't believe, how I could just choose to be mean,
But you caught me in the deep, it won't last I'll be down on my knees
Oh this whiskey, every day and every night,
Oh these pills, every day and every night,
Make me feel, like I'm running out of light,
Like I'm running out of light, and state of mind
Well you said you think you're ready,
To be an actress, well I said it,
Life's just a rolling movie, and we're all waiting for the credits
Oh nobody knows, how long I've been waiting for death
Nobody knows, how long I've been waiting for death

Neither would I
same

What can I say? I'm a sucker for a glibly contemplative hootenanny.
And its on the music streaming services now
"Life's just a rolling movie and we're all waiting for the credits" has to be the best nihlistic one liner I've ever heard.
It's definitely my fave line. I just love its "no free will" vibe.
Though I'm not so old and cynical (or at least not the latter) to I think most people are just sitting around waiting for the credits. Most people are watching the movie. A few know it's a movie, most don't; but we're all watching it... Not waiting for the credits, just hoping it will get better.
Though, I got to say, yesterday was a good episode; plenty of action, good food, and a bit of drinking.
Why is EVERY song in Abi's end credits always such a freaking banger?
tbh I would join the philosophy tube patreon in a heartbeat if Abi shared some of her spotify playlists on it

I didn't expect "modern hipster falsetto bluegrass" to be a genre of music that speaks to me on this level, but holy SHIT.
That falsetto is actually fairly traditional for high mountain bluegrass.
Ah! So TRADITIONAL modern hipster falsetto bluegrass. Awesome!

Let’s try not to drown out the original lovers here too! Tbh their opinions are probably more interesting than us who came from PT. Everyone knows where we came from, let’s talk about how jiggy this shit is
Wise words!
I cried listening to this when I heard it on Abigails video. I'm a recovering addict and the song speaking about booze and pills n waiting on death was to real for me but I love this song . Knowing that state of mind isn't forever even tho I do think of death alot! Love anyone listening to this in a bad spot n just know your so strong just by waking up n not giving up.
All the best to you, Josephine.
Congrats I hope you’re journey to recovery and health is a smooth one, and even if it isn’t, I believe you can have the strength to endure! 🧡
mighty bold of you to assume some of us have a way out.
some are just doomed to live and die in misery.
I got sober in 1987. I really love this song. Even now, all these years later, I have no desire to drink or use, but I really feel this song in here...
@@DomyTheMad420 hello lovely human. or carbon based life life form. I am proud of you - for being strong and brave with the eternal doom all around you. it has clearly threatened to usurp you of leaving and in that way your life has been under siege in this world. a sage who is called Abigail once helped me understand the importance of names. and how they can come and go in any condition. and so in that spirit, my 'misery' (in your words) feels like an 'abyss' - if i were to visualize my personal and lofty relationship with misery. when i choose stare into the abyss, i must choose to feel my misery. in the process of this - i try to remember that if one can still feel the wind on its flesh, then you can trust the world around you will change. and you can begin to feel the misery. no matter how bleak it seems with your eyes opened or closed. if you can still feel, you can assume a lot of things and more importantly you can learn how to come and go. i try to say into the abyss, that if my physical form is left unprotected too long and alone, i will begin to change too. i tell this to the abyss but really because i am afraid. i do hope you have with you in these threatening miserable times: a warm drink, a snuggly blanket, and someone you trust with your survival. and some where soft to lay your weary head while you live or while you die - because yah, what is the point in looking away? i believe everyone deserves more than what i see and what i feel. and i trust that the life that i can feel around me in any form it takes will conspire alongside all willing life forms and formless lives/ and what we do from there is where the fun begins! my point with this and im sorry if its none of my business dear stranger: what all people feel is important. whoever you are, never let anyone take that from you. i wouldn't try. and when you're ready to see or feel something else, when you can give yourself the attention it needs: so much life in this world will still be here. and will also have ceased to be. and you have been and always will be worthy of deciding to go when and where you are damn well and ready to be shown the door. you deserve to say how you leave misery. i'm sorry if it feels hopeless and overwhelming. i'll be on the American South Eastern (not my words) worlds for perhaps another 40 years if i can continue to defy expectation, play in joyful care, and learn more about barriers to all life. i don't like it here all the time, but i can feel the wind and i am reminded of my skin. we can talk whenever you like about anything at all. take good care of yourself there, dear human.

just a little reminder to you. Come hear again
i know this comment is super old but i actually also like both rap and country, but thats not weird i dont think. At thier core both are trying to get at the same thing in a different style. Theyre both just like "I'm gonna tell you how I feel and I ain't gonna bury it. Not under some funky synth, or under metaphor, or anything." Artist in both genres are just up front and personal.

Way ahead of their time - jamming socially distanced in the woods.
Thank you, Abby!
This song is just...the experience of suicidal depression, set to a sick banjo riff. I don't know what else there is to say about it. It is exactly what it set out to be.
Nice song, I'm here from Philosophy Tube.
main chord prog is A - B7 - D - Dm.
“oh this whiskey” is F#m - D - A, with a few extra repetitions of D - A at the end, then a E7 and back into the main prog

Here Bc of Abigail?
THANK U!
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Aye sorry to nitpick but its F#m-D-A ×3 D-A-E7 for the whiskey bridge. Dead on on the rest though
I don't usually try to figure out chord progs. Thought I'd try my hand with this one. Nice call on the E7.
